Undiscussed page moves[edit]

Db500, I've reveiwed and reverted most of the page moves that you've made in the past few weeks. All of the pages I reverted were already at the most common name for their topics, as far as I could tell. Please read Wikipedia:Article titles carefully, and be sure that you cite specific reasons according to the guidelines for any page moves that you make. It would probably be helpful if you would propose a change to an article's title on its talk page first, and get a clear consensus to move the article, at least until you gain a little more experience with Wikipedia's article naming conventions. Hi Dinglebat500, you'll need to go through Wikipedia:Requests_for_adminship instead of approaching an administrator directly. If you can't find any vandalism, you're not looking hard enough. Undiscussed page move of Shamli district[edit]

Dinglebat500, I see that you've moved another article without getting a consensus through discussion first. You moved Shamli district to Shamli District without giving a valid reason. From looking at List of districts of Uttar Pradesh, all the district articles in Uttar Pradesh state appear to use the uncapitalized form "district". The community has given you some leeway because you're new to Wikipedia, but you need to stop making undiscussed moves. If you believe an article has the wrong title, for whatever reason, please discuss it on that article's talk page first. If a consensus is reached that a new name is needed, then the article can be moved. Pretty sure he only made 1 edit, and he probably just didn't know any better since he was a newbie. You know what they say, don't bite the newbies.

He attempted significantly more vandalism than that, but those were blocked. And no good faith editor would have attempted those sorts of edits. If he wants to be unblocked, he's free to request an unblock. You cannot request one on his behalf. It's very likely any such request would be declined at this time, though. More information about page moves[edit]

@Dinglebat500: I want to give you some more information about how most people on Wikipedia expect moves to work. This information comes from the page Wikipedia:Requested moves, specifically the section #Requesting controversial and potentially controversial moves. (You will see that another editor, Siuenti, has now followed these steps for the article you tried to move at Talk:St Mary's Island (Tyne and Wear)#Requested move 8 June 2017. They are trying to help you get this page moved.) Here is how to request a move, step-by-step:

Open the talk page for the article you wish to have moved. For example, Talk:Spike Island (Cheshire).
Click "New section" at the top right of the page.
Don't bother filling in a title for the section (our next steps will do it automatically).
Paste this template code into the edit box:
{{subst:Requested move|NewName|reason=Place here your rationale for the proposed page name change, ideally referring to applicable naming convention policies and guidelines, and providing evidence in support where appropriate. If your reasoning includes search engine results, please prioritize searches limited to reliable sources (e.g. books, news, scholarly papers) over other web results. Do not sign this.}}
Replace the template parameters with details about the move request. Be sure to include at least one reference to a Wikipedia policy or guideline. For example:

"Haitian Standard French"[edit]

Hello, your recent move from Haitian French has been overturned. This is a nonexistent term when describing "Haitian French"; unlike the standard Haitian "Creole". This move was swiftly overturned by editors. "Standard French" is taught in school as well as spoken in Haiti. A variety while spoken is not officially standardized to be able to bare such a title.
