General sanctions alert

[edit]
This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Due to past disruption in this topic area, the community has enacted a more stringent set of rules. Any administrator may impose sanctions—such as editing restrictions, bans, or blocks—on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on these sanctions. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Suggestion

[edit]

Dingle, I read this essay yesterday and this essay earlier today, and I would suggest that you read them too and close the ANI. I created this account on the urge to right something that I felt was wrong, and while it hasn't been hugely successful in the way I went about it, I believe I have achieved my overall objective, and I trust that other editors who understand the science, as well as WP Policy, will pick up where we left off. While they often act obtuse, our contrarian friends are slowly coming around to realizing that the lab leak theory wasn't quite what they first thought it was, and if you listen in on their conversations (here), you can see some cogs starting to turn in their heads (they're past the second stage of realizing that the leak doesn't mean "Bioweapon + Trump + bleh", but they are still a bit before the final stage of understanding the risks posed by certain gain of function studies). Let's meet up again at the Village Pump. ScrupulousScribe (talk) 19:04, 24 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

February 2021

[edit]

Your comment towards Joelle there is a borderline personal attack, in reply to a very accurate comment she made. Since your only activities are to promote and complain, this is a warning that unless you move-on I'll unfortunately have to report you as not being here for the encyclopedia. The community has its processes and policies, including WP:MEDRS, WP:PRIMARY, WP:SPS, WP:PA. Ignoring them leads nowhere. Thanks, —PaleoNeonate00:36, 15 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please remember to assume good faith when dealing with other editors, which you did not do on Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Draft:COVID-19 lab leak hypothesis. Thank you. Doug Weller talk 19:37, 18 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Of canvassing

[edit]

Just some general information to correct misconceptions like expressed here: posting a notice at an official public Wikipedia noticeboard is not WP:CANVASSING, unlike inviting selective specific editors. Another related policy is WP:FORUMSHOP where if unsuccessful at a noticeboard it's rarely appropriate to restart over multiple others, or to contact multiple administrators in a row if the outcome isn't successful after contacting the first. —PaleoNeonate07:36, 19 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Notice of noticeboard discussion

[edit]

Information icon There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you. —PaleoNeonate08:05, 19 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

April 2021

[edit]

Please stop attacking other editors. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Comment on content, not on other contributors or people. Calling community guidelines special in "sarcastic quotes" and telling others they have a lack of basic reading comprehension are not acceptable. If this continues, I'll request a topic sanction under the general sanctions you were notified of above. -bɜ:ʳkənhɪmez (User/say hi!) 18:30, 1 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
