Probably the most important piece of advice is don't try and write an article about yourself - personal autobiographies are not supported on Wikipedia. You might feel that you are notable enough to have an article on Wikipedia about yourself, however in most situations that isn't the case. It will generally be interpreted as being self promotion. If you are considered notable then let somebody else make that call, not you. Dan arndt (talk) 06:29, 24 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for getting back to me, Dan. And thank you for the advice. I'm not writing the article. Some of my fans are writing it. I'm sure you're correct that most people who think they're notable enough to have an article in Wikipedia don't really but I've been a notable figure in broadcasting for over 30 years and I'm referenced in several Wikipedia articles. Anyways I truly appreciate you getting back to me. People love to cast doubt on the veracity of Wikipedia saying stuff like "anyone can write anything," but that's a bunch of bullshit. You guys run a tight ship. Also Elon Musk is a dick.

Tips
  • Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
  • It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
  • If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
  • Always use edit summaries to explain your changes.
  • When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
  • If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
  • Have fun! Your presence in the Wikipedia community is welcome.
