[edit]Ecoletage's RfA
[edit]I removed your refactoring of my comment, and came up with a much simpler implementation. The bolding and insertion of your signature just made the whole thing look choppy and added emphasis I didn't intend. Your formatting was also off as you didn't complete the bracketed wiki-markup and instead inserted an extra set of parenthesis. I understand why you did this, but don't appreciate not having the chance to do so myself. I'm a fairly active user, and if you feel something I've said needs refactoring or clarification, I'd appreciate the courtesy of at least a note on my talk page telling me you've changed my comments. Thanks. AniMate 19:29, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
That's another reason why we use Google translations to assert the quality of foreign language articles. While babel fish is horrid, I've seen more than a handful of Google machine translations, even from Chinese, that made a lot of sense. Also, there's no corresponding entry on the Korean Wiki. Anyhow, I've put this up at Pages needing translation, let's see what comes out of it. De728631 (talk) 09:14, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

[edit]Can you tell me why you deleted the entry for my cricket club the Eccentric Flamingoes?
The reason given was Patent Nonsense!
Are you trying to suggest we don't exist?
Here's our homepage on the net http://www.geocities.com/hitoutgetout/
A reference to a match reports from one of our regular opponents Blog link
2 mentions on the fixture list of another Edinburgh Club Edinburgh club

Hope we can clear this up amicably

- No but the article was nonsensical and made no assertion of notability. It will need a total rewrite in any event. Look at WP:MOS, wp:v and WP:N. These will guide you in your editing. I will restore the article, based on Google book hits. Looking at the sources you quote, geocities and blogs don't count as reliable sources. Mentions on your webpage or your opponents do not. Mere existence does not suffice for an encyclopedia article-- subjects must meet notability requirements. The paucity of google news hits argues against notability based on significant coverage by third party sources. Google books hits argue for it. Cheers, and happy editing. My RFA
[edit]Thanks for voting on my RFA, although it was unsuccessful, I do appreciate the feedback; my lowered activity since my last RFA was certainly a valid concern. You’re also right in saying that policy has changed; I think I’m up-to-date, so hopefully I can see you around Wikipedia and perhaps sway you :D. Thanks again for the vote regardless of what it was, and I truly hope that I’ll see you around.--danielfolsom 03:19, 8 September 2008 (UTC)

[edit]Hi, just need to know what makes my deleted article "Carpool One" more unsuitable than articles such as eMusic. I'd like to provide information about this free service in Wikipedia in the correct format, so it is not treated as spam but rather as a useful information about the service. Super Mario for MegaZeux
[edit]Hello there editor. I was wondering how contributors can improve on a page after it has been flagged for deletion. A lot of programmers have been talking about this simple fan-made game, in chats and forums and it received a bit of popularity for a while for its use of ASCII graphics to achieve the look it has. However there is no real place to find complete information about the game. More contributors I'm sure will make their edits but not if it has been deleted.
Thanks a lot and any help you can offer would be fantastic. I'd like to contribute to other articles in the future too. Editing articles is a lot more easier than creating one I've discovered.

I'm kinda new to Wikipedia,
but is it not enough that I stay away from the articles and article dicussions until I learn some stuff:
I also have to keep away from user's talk pages,
and/or that you savants are permitted to edit other peoples user talk pages?
As for spam, the sites I cited are MediaWiki types, a few that have interests not too unlike Wikipedia's.
So I guess the Sarah Palin Barack Obama John McCain pages will remained locked,
perhaps un-editted until after the election when a few of them won't matter a fraction as much.
Today, I was going to spend a few hours working on a catagory for Wikipedia,
but with guys like you around, why bother?
Seems like it's not a lot of things.
Might I add user friendly?
What other ways do you kill people's interest in Wikipedia?
Hope the both of you have a far more pleasant day than I'm having.

About my 16th articale
[edit]I believe you where asking about this "16. The administration has favored me, much more then the rest of you have. If they wanted to they could have banned you all for life just for messing around with me or they could have banned me long ago. Since administration have shown me good courtesy, then even if you guys still have problems with me, then go to my talk page and tell me all about it."
That part of my comment was directed at the lower ranking editors if you didn't notice. Gnfnrf responded to the entire articale.
I got just one simple question, do you know the user who originally authored The SNES game maker? I think he or she might be able to get me in contact with Mr. Johnson. The guy who is said to be incharge of developing the software. If you don't know who the original author is then can you aquire the information for me because I still need to talk to this person no matter what your desision will be. The rules of wikipedia don't have to read as if they came out of pages of college books, I heard somewhere that a law was being preposed that would require credit card companies to re-write their terms and conditions to where they could be understood on an 8th grade reading level. I didn't have time to read over all the rules, my real problems was trying to format the articals correctly because I'm so use to basic html code. Besides the question that I have for the original author is if I can be given a way to contact Mr. Johnson myself and convince him to provide more information about his software so that software can be posted on wikipedia. If I where to contact him then I could request that he set up a website to give more details about the software and post beta versons of the software.
I would also like to know how the rules here can be written and re-written officially.

You are probably right.... Bearian (talk) 22:58, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
- thanks for your note. I'm really frustrated by trying to determine notability with Indian subjects. The further from sleepy li'l ol' Largo a subject is, the harder it is. I once ran into some real trouble when I nominated a Russian pol article for deletion. If sources are in Cyrillic or Hindi, I'm lost. Then you have people contributing who speak a different dialect of English. A lot can get lost. BTW, the blog referenced the character she plays rather than the subject. Cheers, and happy editing. - Even if you are notable per WP:BIO, which I doubt, you should not write about yourself per WP:COI. So Dlohcierekim did just fine. Cheers. The Rambling Man (talk) 14:22, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
- As a matter of fact I did. In no way did I see any assertion of the subject meeting WP:BIO. Candidates for state office are not notable inherently. I also went to the subject's campaign page. There I found no indication that of him meet WP:BIO. Then I did a Google News search, in which I found surprisingly little media coverage. The lack of assertion of notability in he article was sufficient to speedily delete under WP:CSD.
- Now we come to the matters of conflict of interest and autobiography. Writing a Wikipedia article about oneself creates a clear potential for conflict of interest, especially during the run-up to an election. Autobiography is generally discouraged, though if one can remain a neutral point of view and carefully cite reliable sources from third parties unconnected with the subject with verifiable information, it can work out. One must also remember that Wikipedia is not a sopabox or a stump. Certainly, if you review WP:BIO and feel that your subject mets it meet it, and if you can provide reliable, verifiable sources you can recreate the article.
- My advice would be to create a test page at User:Heneghan/test to work on the thing. However, bear in mind that Wikipedia is not a webhost, and if it appears you are using Wikipedia for promotional purposes, even in your user space, the content will likely be removed. If you wish to appeal the deletion, leave message on my talk page. i will restore the article and send if for discussion at WP:AFD.
- I should have left you a welcome and a deletion notice at the time I deleted your article. Must have been getting sleepy. Please see the links in the welcome above, as they are helpful. Cheers, and happy editing. Dlohcierekim 15:33, 19 September 2008 (UTC)

[edit]I hope you didn't misinterpret what I was trying to say before. [edit]Hello, I do not understand why you delated this article. - Bigfoot is encyclopedic based on the verifiable] information found in reliable sources. There are thousands of scholarly works that talk about it. There are thousands of news accounts about it. There are [millions of web pages. Google count does not equate to notability, but there are sufficient reliable sources that talk about it. A search for "Rimoniscusplatypus" finds-- nothing. - The problem is not that this is not a real person-- there are many real people who do not meet notability requirements for articles about people. The first problem is that this was not in English-- articles on the english Wikipedia need to be in English. That in itself would not lead to deletion, however, someone who understands the language it was written in indicated there was no assertion of meeting WP:BIO. A further problem was the lack of verifiable information from reliable sources. IF, on reviewing the guidelines for notability and reliable sources, you feel the subject does meet these requirements, feel free to recreate the article in English and with references. Cheers, and happy editing. Dlohcierekim 21:34, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

One of the advantages of not having many supporters at your RFA is that there are fewer people to thank at the end. Thanks for your support and your willingness to look at my complete record. I'm going to try to interpret this resounding defeat as a statement that I should choose my words more carefully in the future, and remember that every statement I make gets recorded forever, just waiting to get carefully transcribed onto my next RFA. I would go insane if I believed that it was repudiation of what I truly meant: that no editor should consciously and willfully ignore guidelines and policies, and editors that repeatedly do so should not be rewarded for or supported in doing so.
I'm sure I'll get back to full speed editing soon, because, after all, , every day, and in every way, I am getting better and better.—Kww(talk) 05:26, 9 October 2008 (UTC)

Hi, Dlohcierekim. I know that you deleted this page in good faith, and thanks for bringing it to my attention. I created it more than two years ago. I request that you restore this page. I'll address some issues here:
- Quality: The text that is in the cache is not terribly well written, but as we both know, that's not a reason to delete it. We need someone to give it some work. I'd do it myself but I'm up to my neck in other articles right now. The article could also use more sourcing. Sources do exist, but again, I'm not in a position to work on this article right now.
- Notability: Bon Levi has undoubtedly been the subject of multiple newspaper reports over many years in the US and Australia. He has also been the subject of many prosecutions by the ACCC, which surely would be enough to make someone notable. His fame/infamy waxes and wanes, but he's as notable as you need to be to have a Wikipedia article, I should think.
- Db-attack: I assure you that I did not create that page to disparage the subject. Only the first four sentences are based on what I created. The rest has been awkwardly added to by others. The result reads fairly negatively, but I do not intend for it to be unfair and I don't think others do either. Bon Levi has been found guilty by a jury of his peers of everything that has been written about him. If he comes off sounding like a criminal, that's because he is one. I do have a forthright way with words, though. A couple of my articles on paedophiles have been deleted by AfDs after being nominated for being attack pages, but whenever they've been deleted, it's been on the basis of notability rather than db-attack.
Anyway, I ask that you restore it. We can send it to AfD if you are concerned about it. - Richard Cavell (talk) 10:58, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
Thank you

Page move
[edit]I notice you are online. PLease could you move Leicester Lions (speedway) over Leicester Lions redirect. It was moved unneccessarily in March and left many links to the speedway pointing at DAB. DAB to the other article is on speedway page. Thanks

[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from The Barraki, a page you have created yourself. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, you can place a {{hangon}} tag on the page, under the existing speedy deletion tag (please do not remove the speedy deletion tag), and make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. Clubmarx (talk) 01:50, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

Hi there. It looks like you deleted the above article. I was going to close the AfD for you, but the deletion log shows the rationale as being the AfD, which I assume isn't right as it (the AfD) just was opened today. Was this actually a speedy? Thanks, Xymmax So let it be written So let it be done 16:27, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
Günter Deckert
[edit]Hi Dlohcierekim. I created Günter Deckert a couple of years ago in a probably misguided attempt to supplement WP's coverage of Holocaust denial by translating information from the German WP. I consulted no external sources, and though I'd be lying if I said I had no stake in seeing the article survive, it does concern a living person so I have no objection to a speedy deletion if necessary. I actually created several such articles, which I could list if it would be any help. These people's notability is not in question but I shouldn't have gone about it in this way so I wouldn't oppose deletion as long as they are archived. Thanks. Lfh (talk) 19:19, 20 October 2008 (UTC)

Line of Succession to the British Throne trimming proposal
[edit]An editor recently boldly trimmed Line of Succession to the British Throne. Another editor objected. Please contribute to the discussion to determine if there is a consensus to support this bold edit. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 15:43, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
Talk:Line of succession to the British throne
[edit]Suppose, hypothetically, that there was an official British-government publication or official Crown publication that listed all known people in the line of succession. This list would be an estimated 6-10,000 people long. Assume the official list was published with the caveat that "this list is updated monthly and is not guaranteed to be accurate. Corrections and hardcopy supporting documentation should be mailed to ...."
Should Wikipedia have an article that has a subset of this list beyond the Royal Family proper, and if so, how big a subset and why should it be that size and not smaller or larger. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 17:00, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
Speedy delete of ArcaneKnite

[edit]Thanks for the WP:Salt on the Darth panda page! Hi Dlohcierekim, yes the article is in Spanish. It basically says that George Wirth is an artist who likes to draw "male members", and it talks about how many "members" he's drawn over the year. Unless there really is a George Wirth who does anatomical art, I'm pretty sure this is just an attack/vandalism. SheepNotGoats (Talk) 01:56, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

All the obscurification aside, and with grave concerns of the SPA appearance of "modestprotest", I had some thoughts myself early on that, COI aside, the article might actually have been improved to remove POV and make it encyclopedic. I hesitate to even consider such now. SInce you have been wise in trying to keep the AfD discussion focused on the article and not the events, what might you opine? Is it even worth wading into the process of attempting improvement? Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 22:31, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
- I am a real stickler for reliable sources and WP:V. I did not find anything that would be significant coverage by third parties. The reviews were mere blurbs. I saw no RS for biographical information. Unless/until significant coverage exists, I'd not try to rescue the article. IF on the other hand, I felt the subject met notability, I would add sourcing and indications of significance until the AFD closed as delete. I would also make mention of any improvements a the AFD so that my improvements were taken into consideration. My natural reaction to the stridency of the deletion attempt was to attempt rescue. I was unsuccessful in finding anything helpful. You might check with User:DGG. He's better at rescue and at swinging discussions to keep than I. Hope that helps. Dlohcierekim 22:43, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
- Taking another look at the thing, I still have a sense of it being promotional as well. There's a fine line between promotion and listing accomnplishments, though. Dlohcierekim 22:46, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
- Short answer in light of your Barnstar-- yes Dlohcierekim 22:49, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, thank you... I will check with DGG. I myself learned from this very first edit ever diff, that modestprotest was themselves a SPA with a mission. I hate such muddy waters. Time for clarity. I will do some deeper digging and I can satisfy your concerns for WP:N and WP:RS, I will let you know. Thanks. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 22:48, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
It was a total pain-in-my-butt to weed out the fluff and find proper sources. I think he might now been seen as having a very minor notability... once I pulled his own HUGE ego out of the article. I can do no more, and my fingers are tired. I will accept your opinion, as I now have to get to work. Best, Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 20:03, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for your response on my talk page. I am in agreement with you in that I have done all I could for the article in the face os SPA accounts nominating or defending. If it survives, it survives. If it goes, it goes. Thanks for your neutrality and fairness. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 21:46, 29 October 2008 (UTC)

CSD removal
[edit]Sorry, I see you removed the csd tag on my subpage User:Jock Boy/Favorites/Jock Boy Page. It was created by a vandal in the namespace after I warned him, and I originally thought it was an attack page, so I asked J.delanoy who deleted it to provide a copy of what it looked like, just out of curiosity. I read and noticed that it wasn't very mean, but I still archived it in my /Favorites section. I forgot to remove the CSD tag, and didn't realize that it would ping the category of csds. Thank you for your consideration to inform me of your inducement to remove that which I added. I was a little disappointed at first, I must admit, but I realized, as you said, that the information which I added perhaps made the summary too complicated. I believe that your article is well written, and it instantaneously captivated my attention which is why I believed it necessary to add more information. Upon further reflection, I do not retain the similar belief now. Thank you once again for your consideration, and I hope that you will correspond with me in reply to this.

[edit]re: Fuck it / Naked Lens
[edit]Hi, Dlohcierekim. We've never met, so you couldn't have been aware of my history of AfD-hating... so I apologize for the outburst. I had retired just because of this idea that we delete articles which are not up to snuff regardless of the "notability" of the subject, without making much effort to source them first. Fine, if this is the way Wikipedia works, it's just not the place for me. I've been editing at a small, subject-specific Wiki for a few months, and find it a very happy place to engage in this hobby. The server there has been down for the past few weeks, and I had a severe case of editor blue-balls, and the author of the article had been an editing-friend of mine here. He doesn't seem to be active anymore, so I worked on Hex as a favor to him, and to satisfy my urge to edit. Anyway, yes, I feel many of the articles up for deletion, which are deleted, are salvageable if someone just takes the time to work on them. The other Wiki server is operational since last night, so I'll be doing my editing over there for now, and bow out here.

Re: The Article Rescue Barnstar
[edit]Thanks for the barnstar, Dlohcierekim. I couldn't very well sit by and watch it go after all the discussion... But it seems to me that deleting articles on notable subjects unless someone steps forward to improve the article is a hell of a way to run a ship... (I assure you, I'm no expert in cannibalism :) I just took the time to look for sourcing, and to put it together.) Anyway, maybe I'll eventually find a way to get over this deletion-complex of mine and come back full-time. Thanks again, and take care. Dekkappai (talk) 14:25, 7 November 2008 (UTC)

[edit]Thank you very much for your support in my RfA, which closed as successful a few hours ago. I was impressed that anyone took the time to actually read the userpage and find the Rescue Barnstar, which is also the one I'm proudest of as I actually argued to delete the article at AfD, then was forced to swallow my pride and do the resuscitation work to get it into a saveable form.
The admin reading list demonstrates how many foolish newbie mistakes there are to be amde, and no doubt I'll make a few of them so feel free to pass on any advice along the way, or gently let me know if I've done something dumb. Thanks again. Euryalus (talk) 10:45, 12 November 2008 (UTC)

Your deletion of
[edit]Article before deletion: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=2010&oldid=253764414
Why did you remove it? Seeing just how much sports-references and less important happenings are included in the article I see no reason why important happenings in comics should be excluded. Comics are enjoyed by millions of people all over the world just as sports, and even though it is an unsourced claim, it has been picked up by a publisher in Norway (Egmont) and has been in development for quite some time now. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.191.68.231 (talk) 13:39, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
