CKOO-FM

Just for future reference, you should not actually have moved CKOO-FM Old in advance of the conclusion of the move discussion — what you really should have done is list it as a supplementary part of the move request, with a proposed new title for it that it would get moved to when the discussion concluded. And our normal naming convention for such stations is to disambiguate them with a parenthetical "(defunct)" rather than just adding the word "old" to the call sign. But in this case, that's actually all neither here nor there, because what I've actually found is that the "old" CKOO-FM in Broadview SK is actually a station that was licensed but never verifiably launched at all, and simply had its license expire unbuilt. Accordingly, I've listed that article for deletion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/CKOO-FM Old, because we don't keep articles about failed stations that never actually went on the air. So if you'd like to come weigh in on that discussion, you're welcome. Thanks. Bearcat (talk) 23:14, 4 February 2018 (UTC)

Yeah, "slipped through the cracks" is about the size of it. We actually undertook a concerted project last year of trying to get rid of any lagging articles about radio stations that got created off the original license approval but never actually made it to air for real, but CKOO-Broadview didn't get caught in the process because a problem editor who was trying to undermine that process (he didn't think we should ever get rid of any article about any radio station, even hoax ones that don't actually exist at all) removed the sentence "however as of 2015, the station has yet to be launched and Kahkewistahaw Radio Station had not filed any renewals or applications to the CRTC", which would have gotten it canned on sight, before any of the responsible editors got to it.
And yeah, it's not a big deal in this case — since the article's going to be in the trash can within a few days, it's not worth actually fixing the title. The clarification of our actual process for name changes was just in case you come across another call sign swap in the future, so you'll know what our preferred practice is. I've also already repointed the CKOO-FM redirect back to the CJUI article, so that anybody who searches for it while the move request is still pending will actually get to the right place anyway.
