Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Dmillerrevlocal, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one of your contributions does not conform to Wikipedia's Neutral Point of View policy (NPOV). Wikipedia articles should refer only to facts and interpretations that have been stated in print or on reputable websites or other forms of media.

There's a page about the NPOV policy that has tips on how to effectively write about disparate points of view without compromising the NPOV status of the article as a whole. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, click here to ask for help on your talk page, and a volunteer should respond shortly. Below are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Questions or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome!  —C.Fred (talk) 14:17, 30 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Information icon Please do not add commentary, your own point of view, or your own personal analysis to Wikipedia articles, as you did to Southside Christian School. Doing so violates Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy and breaches the formal tone expected in an encyclopedia. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. Articles should be based on independent reliable sources. The article should not just parrot the subject's website, especially when doing so glosses over significant events that pertain to the school's history.C.Fred (talk) 14:20, 30 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Dmillerrevlocal. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the article Southside Christian School, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. BillHPike (talk, contribs) 14:54, 30 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

April 2018

[edit]

Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to add soapboxing, promotional or advertising material to Wikipedia, as you did at Southside Christian School, you may be blocked from editing. Wikipedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view. Pulling information from the school's website in a direct manner renders the article unacceptably biased and with an almost promotional tone.C.Fred (talk) 19:42, 9 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Almost? Never realized you were a Minimalist, C.Fred. Glad this is on an administrator's radar. The change in question was almost promotional in the same sense Octomom was almost pregnant. John from Idegon (talk) 20:44, 9 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@John from Idegon: The same way it almost violates copyright of http://www.southsidechristian.org/why-scs/history/, now that I look at the school's website closer. —C.Fred (talk) 19:44, 10 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Important, non optional question

[edit]

I've noticed every contribution you've made to Wikipedia has been to remove negative, but 100% true and properly referenced material from Southside Christian School, a segregation academy located in Greenville County, South Carolina. Are you employed by the school or any organization connected with the school in any way? If not, what is your relationship with this intitution, and why exactly are you trying to hide true, verifiable facts about it? John from Idegon (talk) 20:34, 9 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Multiple accounts

[edit]

It is obvious that you are connected to Pear.M. Both of you have added the same content to the same article in a matter of days. Please review Wikipedia's policy on multiple accounts. BillHPike (talk, contribs) 19:22, 10 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Sockpuppet investigation

[edit]

Hi. An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Dmillerrevlocal, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community.

Volunteer or paid representative?

[edit]

In this message at my user talk page, you declared yourself to be a representative of the school. Can you please clarify if you are a volunteer (e.g., PTA member) or a paid representative (e.g., staff member or trustee) of the school? While you have a conflict of interest either way, the restrictions and required declarations for paid editors are more stringent. —C.Fred (talk) 14:35, 11 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

C.Fred Technically a paid representative. I handle marketing for Southside Christian School while not directly affiliated with them. I've never edited on Wikipedia before, so this is a new experience and all you have said and the guidelines make sense to me. The other person attempting to make edits is a Representative from the school and I have instructed them to stop and informed them of this conversation. Also, I have not attempted any edits to the page as I see I possibly violate the conflict of interest policy, sock puppetry policies. Dmillerrevlocal (talk) 20:36, 11 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
If you are editing Wikipedia for pay (and that includes working for a PR firm who has the school has a client), then you must disclose that fact and the name of your employer. See WP:PAID for more information. —C.Fred (talk) 20:38, 11 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
in the interest of playing by the rules, you are also probably aware of the status of the editor with the username you have been accused of using as a sockpuppet. If they work for your firm, they need to disclose also. John from Idegon (talk) 22:38, 11 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
