T G Purvis[edit]

Your first article, on T G Purvis was actually very well done. As a new article reviewer, I am going to tag it as an orphan (no links from other articles), and needing more links to other articles, and needing more categories. I encourage you to create other new articles of like quality, with links to and from the article and more categories. Also look at the talk page I added to your article, which is much like talk pages I added to Montague Dawson and Nicholas Pocock, British marine artists whose articles will provide you with other categories for your article. Adding appropriate templates to new articles is something I do as a reviewer, but I am always pleased when I see a new article with good talk page templates already there. I've edited the article trying to take account of all your points - please have a look and let me know what you think.

The worst perhaps is the "orphan" status. The only existing page on Wikipedia that mentions TGP is the one on his son Tom Purvis. I have added a link from that to TGP. [I should like to do some editing on the Tom Purvis page later ..]

The reason I wrote the article is that there is plenty of interest in (and sales of) TGP's paintings on the web (a Google search just now gave 2390 results), but no or very little accurate info on him. His correct dates of birth and death are only out there because I told the National Museum of Wales and one or two others about them some years ago. So I think an article on him on Wikipedia will be supplying a real public demand.

When you reply, use colons to indent, and use the signature (fourth icon from the right on the top edit bar) to sign your reply, which goes where the cursor points. Orphan status is easily corrected. Tom Purvis already has a link from the Purvis surname disambiguation page, so add TG, and TG's birthplace has a list of residents, just add a link there, too. I leave those for you, and after you add those two links, go ahead and remove the Orphan tag. Dear Gaia

I am well aware of the possibility of a conflict of interest. That is why I flagged up that Patrick Mollison was my father. And also why I've restricted my suggested edits to details of fact. They are pretty minor details, but as an enthusiastic supporter of Wikipedia, I do like its information to be correct.

I would have thought it more positive practice, rather than deleting corrections made in good faith, to ask for supporting evidence if you think that necessary. I didn't go into detail because these are just minor matters of fact.
