A tag has been placed on File:WindSeeker Canadas Wonderland April12011.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button that looks like this: which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. File copyright problem with File:Knotts Windseeker Concept 2.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Knotts Windseeker Concept 2.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright and licensing status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Themeparkgc  Talk  01:27, 28 April 2011 (UTC)

File source and copyright licensing problem with File:Knotts Windseeker Concept 2.jpg

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Knotts Windseeker Concept 2.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 20:05, 28 April 2011 (UTC). If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. Fair use rationale for File:Knott's Windseeker2011.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Knott's Windseeker2011.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. A tag has been placed on File:CW WindSeeker.jpg, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

the file is a non-free image with incomplete rationale but claimed as fair use.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Themeparkgc  Talk  04:12, 31 May 2011 (UTC)

  • I am prepared to believe that you took this photo. So why on earth did you apply a fair use tag? I suggest that you re-upload it to the Commons, properly identified as your own work and selecting "Multi-license with CC-BY-SA-3.0 and GFDL". — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 10:00, 31 May 2011 (UTC)

Outdated message on Talk:WindSeeker

Please read WP:ARCHIVENOTDELETE. Messages on article talk pages should not be deleted without archiving, and the size of the talk page doesn't warrant archiving at this time. If the message no longer applies, then just make a new comment under my reply saying that it no longer applies. You can also strike the message out like this if you want (edit your talk page to see how I demonstrated that). Thanks. jcgoble3 (talk) 21:13, 1 June 2011 (UTC)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Liam Gerrad requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, but when you add or change content, as you did to the article Psyclone (ride), please cite a reliable source for the content of your edit. This helps maintain our policy of verifiability. See Wikipedia:Citing sources for how to cite sources, and the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you.  Chzz  ►  04:34, 2 June 2011 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on File:Sledgehammer 2003.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Just because a website does not explicitly state that images are copyrighted, this does not mean that they can be used on Wikipedia. They must be explicitly released into the public domain to be used on Wikipedia. Themeparkgc  Talk  03:25, 4 June 2011 (UTC)

Windseeker

Someone has night shots of WindSeeker and he says he can upload some of them, just tell him which ones:

Giggett (talk) 17:41, 20 July 2011 (UTC)

They are night shots like you want, and as long as he uploads it, he has all the rights and there is no problem Giggett (talk) 17:45, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
Just ask him which picture you want or tell me, I'll add it to the article. I won't be here next week or will he Giggett (talk) 17:48, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
Okay then :) Giggett (talk) 17:53, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
You're the one who said that wanted more images, and even though they can still be used in a new gallery. Giggett (talk) 18:08, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
File:Kings Island WindSeeker at Night.jpg Here is one, and he said that he removed the copyright from the image

And here's the other 2:
Giggett (talk) 18:23, 20 July 2011 (UTC)

AGT Season 6 Round Chart

Hi; Even though we did do the chart that way last year (where we colored and bolded in every contestant), it sparked a discussion months later over the article's accessibility. It turns out that the editor who posted that was right, because we overused color highlighting per the policy WP:COLOR, and also overused bold text per WP:MOSBOLD. The multiple colors are also not very good for people with color-blindness, and for people with e-readers and some mobile devices. It also is a strain on the eyes.

I'm suggesting this year we do a more Britain's Got Talent (series 5)-like round chart. In my opinion, the chart done in that article looks cleaner and is accessible to everyone. Gamer9832 (talk) 15:54, 21 July 2011 (UTC)

Re:BioShock 2 GAN review

Hi, I just saw the review that you left for BioShock 2. While I agree that the article is not GA-ready, I have a few concerns about your review: First, plot sections in video games and other media generally do not have references- they are implicitly sourced to the game/media itself. Second, "A few more pictures" will not help the article pass GAN, as pictures are not a requirement there or anywhere. In fact, for most reviewers it would stand out as a problem, as all BioShock 2 images are copyrighted, so using them as decoration would be a violation of fair use laws. Thirdly, I'm surprised that you only raised those issues, given that the Gameplay section has a huge tag on it, Multiplayer goes into excessive detail on the modes, Development has a big table of hardware requirements for no reason, Music is a single sentence, and Reception has a longer table than prose (and has a cite-needed tag). Those are issues that I saw just by scrolling down. You reviewing articles for GAN is really appreciated, but it's not helpful to nominators or their articles to not tell them about the serious issues. --PresN 17:02, 4 August 2011 (UTC)

Promotional material uploads just changes what the fair-use rationale is on the image page, it doesn't change the fact that the image is still copyrighted. Wikipedia fair-use rules are pretty straight-forward: if the image is copyrighted, you need a good reason to include it. Most video games should have 2- the infobax image to identify the subject, and one really good gameplay image to show what the game looks like, the ui elements, etc. You can sometimes get away with another if there's other aspects of the game that need an image to explain (like the characters), but you can't just throw in images and say "oh, this image shows this area of the game, and this one that". Do remember, though, that at WP:WIAGA it says that images are not required for a GA; you should just have them if they're easy to get and are needed. --PresN 18:06, 4 August 2011 (UTC)

-Thank you for your time and effort on the review, it is appreciated! Mordecairule 14:11, 8 August 2011 (UTC)

Hello Dom. You will have noticed that I nominated some of your images for deletion. You should read (again if you already have) Wikipedia's non-free content criteria. Images that are replaceable, like a rendering of a roller coaster track from Canada's Wonderland, are completely replaceable by a photograph of the ride, and therefore are not eligable for use on Wikipedia. The same goes for the nightly Starlight Spectacular. If you can take a photograph of it, a fair use image of it can not be used here. If you have any questions, let me know, I would be glad to help. --kelapstick(bainuu) 06:42, 21 August 2011 (UTC)

Re: WindSeeker A-Class???

I'm not too sure, since most wikiprojects don't really use A-Class. One thing I would say for any further article improvements is to either go through a copyedit at WP:GOCE or to put the article up for peer review at WP:PR, or both if you're looking at FAC in the future. Wizardman Operation Big Bear 20:50, 29 August 2011 (UTC)

Whoa, I can't believe it! The park is actually getting a WindSeeker! :D Sorry, I barely noticed, I stopped watching the WindSeeker article a few days ago since I thought putting Knott's was gonna complete the article, but who knew that 2 more parks are going to get the ride? This is great! Giggett (talk) 15:46, 1 September 2011 (UTC)
I think these will be the last 2 Windseekers... for Cedar Fair at least.--Dom497 (talk) 15:48, 1 September 2011 (UTC)
Not really, we still have valleyfair, great america, world of fun, etc. Pretty much in the future I see EVERY cedar park having a windseeker, that way a windseeker can be a symbol that its a cedar fair park Giggett (talk) 19:58, 6 September 2011 (UTC)

Hey, I pasted this code to the top of the image you had uploaded to nominate it for deletion... usually the bots pick up on this stuff pretty quick so I generally don't bother adding the template (although I probably should!)... and sadly, I'm not an admin :(

I tried to look somewhere else that say that the ride cycle is different but youtube is the only place I can find. I know I am not wrong but the ride cycle is a major difference that we should point out, but there can't be a better source that a video of the actual ride itself. Giggett (talk) 19:45, 6 September 2011 (UTC)
Well I don't have my speakers working right now but just by looking at the video, you can see that the swings don't start going out until the ride goes higher than Silver Bullet. This is one of the modifications Knott's has added to the original ride cycle the other 3 have. Giggett (talk) 21:24, 6 September 2011 (UTC)
I never said anything about rotation. I said that the swings at Knott's don't start expanding outward until it reaches the height of Silver Bullet (about 100 feet or so), unlike the swings at Canada where they start to expand as soon as the ride grabs speed. Also, the swings at Knott's only stay at the top for like 20 seconds or so (you can see this on any youtube video), unlike the swings at Canada where they stay at the top for a full minute. But like you said, who cares anyway. :P I'm just glad that the article is up at GA class, I can't even get my own articles up to B class. Giggett (talk) 05:20, 7 September 2011 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Tantrum Design/Editnotice, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect to an article talk page, file description page, file talk page, MediaWiki page, MediaWiki talk page, category talk page, portal talk page, template talk page, help talk, user page, user talk or special page from the main/article space.

If you can fix the redirect to point to a mainspace page, please do so and remove the speedy deletion tag. However, please do not remove the speedy deletion tag unless you are fixing the redirect. If you think the redirect should be retained as is for some reason, contest the deletion by clicking on the button that looks like this: which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the article's talk page directly to give your reasons. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Your request for rollback

Hi Dom497. After reviewing your request for rollback, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! FASTILY (TALK) 07:52, 16 September 2011 (UTC)

Your GA nomination of Article

The article Article you nominated as a good article has failed ; see Talk:Article for reasons why the nomination failed. If or when these points have been taken care of, you may apply for a new nomination of the article. I stopped part of the way through due to the issues that I found, I think that quite a bit of work is needed to bring this up to GA level. Sorry, I know that it's frustrating when you've put a lot of work in, but the issues are certainly not insurmountable it will just take a bit of time. Deadly∀ssassin 11:19, 21 September 2011 (UTC)

Xtreme Skyflyer

Hi Dom. I noticed you were creating an article on the Xtreme Skyflyer at Canada's Wonderland. I just thought that maybe the scope of the article could be expanded to cover the other Xtreme Skyflyers at other Cedar Fair parks in a similar way to that of the WindSeeker article. According to the Skycoaster article the parks with an Xtreme Skyflyer include Kings Island, Kings Dominion, California's Great America, Carowinds and of course Canada's Wonderland.
