You've violated 3RR several times over reverting Blackdragon6 (talk · contribs)'s edits, so you might want to watch that. Other users have the page on watch, so next time let someone else get it. You seem to violate 3RR every time a new episode airs and you should be more careful because sometimes the IPs will report you (it happened to me once, but I got lucky that time). -- Scorpion0422 03:58, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

Diacritics

Hello Dominik92. Elrith is correct, I venomously oppose the squiggles, dots, square symbols etc. In fact, the diacritics have caused me to choose to abandon the Ice Hockey articles (days ago). I even called for English Wikipedia to be divided (into diacritics English Wikipedia & non-diacritics English Wikipedia). GoodDay (talk) 20:57, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

If I weren't familiar with the NHL? I wouldn't know who Lubomir Visnovsky was? I certainly wouldn't know how to spell his name. GoodDay (talk) 02:00, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

The Americans aren't the only ones, who omit diacritics from their English usage. GoodDay (talk) 15:13, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

Well, I can't. For example, I pronounce 'Jaromir Jagr' as [Jar-ro-meer Jay-ger]; I don't know how to pronounce his name in Czech. The 'Jaromir Jagr' is the incorrect spelling from the Czech PoV? It's correct from the common English usage PoV. I'm not concerned how Mario Lemieux is spelt on the Czech Wikipedia; why should others be concerned about how Jagr is spelt on the English Wikipedia? GoodDay (talk) 15:23, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
Calling me 'intolerant, disrespectful & hateful' (the last really stank), is kinda overdoing it a little, don't you think? The strongest words I've used towards pro-dios in general? are 'stubborn' & 'inflexiable'. If those are your opinons of me (even though you've never met me), then so be it. I'll hold no personal grudge against you, though. GoodDay (talk) 01:03, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

Please Stop Your Deletion of Arrested Development material!!

Hello, I just looked through some of the Arrested Development articles, and was shocked to see that all of the useful, interesting information was deleted! You have no idea how upset this made me. I understand your desire to cleanup these articles, and I support your work to condense and copyedit the plot sections. I also support your removal of some pictures, although I think the actions of some "Wiki Image Nazis" has been way too severe in the past.

My plea to you is to not delete the callbacks, background jokes, and references sections. I can guarantee that for nearly all readers these are most interesting and valuable parts of the articles: plot sumamries can be found on many major websites, but only Wikipedia has such distillation of interesting information. I will also point out that such accumulation is organic and cannot be avoided in the long run. In other words, even if you delete them, in time the sections will be re-added by users. So not only is your removal of them highly detrimental to the quality and usefulness of the articles, it is also futile.

I have been editing Wikipedia for over a year and I understand Wikipedia's need for a clear policy on trivia sections WP:TRIVIA. The sections you deleted in entirity may contain some trivia, but as a whole they are not trivia sections to begin with. The appeal and greatness of the Arrested Defvelopment is in its references, background jokes and callbacks, which should be elucidated in the articles for the benefit of the reader. The easiest and most useful way to do this is in list form. Note that all such information is easily verifiable using the episodes themselves as a reference.

I am sorry to have undid a bunch of your actions, but I felt I had to. I am also sorry I don't have time to help you or to cleanup the damage you have caused. Please reconsider your actions, and I highly recommend discussing possible changes with other editors on the Arrested Development talk page before continuing. Thanks, Danski14(talk) 22:49, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for your quick reply. I understand your rationale, but I still personally disagree, to some extent, and I am sad to see that material go. I personally tend to be more on an inclusionist side. I think the Arrested Development articles could be referenced a little better, but I think they stand by themselves pretty well. I'm sorry for marking your stuff as vandalism, however I think some of it looks like vandalism. I guess if you continue I most likely won't stop you, but I think you should be careful in your edits. Thanks, Danski14(talk) 00:01, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

Arrested Development DVDs

I noticed you said you were considering buying the AD DVDs to use them as a source. If this is your only reason for buying them, you will be wasting your money. Only three episodes per season have commentary, and it`s nothing useful, just lots of laughing and actors being obscene. They aren`t reliable sources. If, however, you want the DVDs because you like the show, I encourage you to buy them. 69.11.113.79 (talk) 18:17, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

Re: Reservoir Dogs

Looks like you have a good start to the article! A few notes after skimming the article --

  • Exclude flag icons from the infobox per WP:FLAGCRUFT. I also would not bother mentioning the DVD distributor in the infobox, but instead save it for later.  Done
  • The images in the Cast section may be redundant to the more comprehensive group image in the Plot section. You don't have to remove them right away, but I think you could expand the article with content about the film's production and critical analysis to use more specific imagery.
  • I think that the quotes in the Reception section could just be part of the body instead of using stand-alone templates. Also, is Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic excluded from the section for a reason?  Done
  • The See also section should go before the References section. I'm not sure if it really needs to exist, though, because both of its links are in both the Video game and the Soundtrack section.  Done
  • You don't need to indicate the type of language for the references used. This is the English Wikipedia, so it's assumed that a reference is in English. If it wasn't, the other language would be identified.  Done

I've created User:Dominik92/Reservoir Dogs for you. Also, I would recommend checking out Google Scholar and Google Books with the keywords "reservoir dogs" "quentin tarantino" to find relevant hits. —Erik (talkcontrib) - 22:42, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

I meant not trying to highlight the quotes, just have full paragraphs of reviewers expressing criticism of the film. John Doe of The Trade Paper described the pacing of the film, "It was slow like molasses." Jane Doe of Publishing expressed a similar sentiment, explaining, "It was too deliberate for a film of this nature. I think quote templates should only be used if there is something that describes the general sentiment of the film (usually not at the time of release, but years later). I'm here, but only sporadically. There are some resources I could get to you via PDF to improve the article, I think... you want to get a .zip file of some of them? —Erik (talkcontrib) - 05:02, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
I can see what I can bring together tomorrow -- I just noticed that some of the resources at the subpage I gave you were accessible online like American Cinematographer (though it depends on the year, as not all volumes make it online). I'm mostly free tomorrow, so I can send some items your way. Got a dud e-mail handy for such exchanges? I have one set up at Yahoo! for registering on websites and having anonymous dialogue. —Erik (talkcontrib) - 05:08, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

I have a folder of 11 PDFs to send your way. I also found three URLs that seem credible: [1], [2], and [3]. The PDFs are 11 MB total, but I can send separate .zip files, splitting them (like 5 MB and 6 MB). Let me know when and how to send them! —Erik (talkcontrib) - 02:55, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

Well, I think that there could be more background to how the film was made. The PDFs I sent you were a lot of critical analysis, stuff that wouldn't normally be found online or in books. I think that looking at books would be the next step in providing background for the film. I came across a lot of different books that detailed Reservoir Dogs. Featured Articles are pretty comprehensive, so it may take some time to improve the article. Perhaps you could ask DCGeist for some advice? He's done a pretty good job with Pulp Fiction, and he may have some ideas about this particular article. —Erik (talkcontrib) - 05:30, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

Yes, the ELs that you named are usually staples. Any other ELs that would be substantial but not quite appropriate to include in the article could belong. See what I put at Fight Club (film)#External links for an idea of what sort of links would be best. Ultimately, though, I'd say it's best to focus on content. I'll see if I can't find any coverage about Reservoir Dogs from newspaper sources. —Erik (talkcontrib) - 05:09, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

That's not what Ctjf83 says. He says I'm not allowed to put in stuff that happened in the episode, and keeps deleting accurate information that I add unless I add a fact tag. The Albino Alligator (talk) 01:18, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

Ok

Sorry, I apologise. I mean, I've written the plots for every episode since the season premiere (with honest exceptions of "Eternal Moonshine" and "The Debarted"), and I've merely grown accustomed to writing the synopsis, and most users have understood that. I normally copy what I've written and over-write it over another user's often vandalised work, and I apologise, as I didn't know you had added a section. - Yours truly, S (talk) 03:24, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

Re: AFD

Unfortunately, I've recommended to keep. You can see my reasons outlined at the AFD page. I was hoping for a bit more time to pass before re-exploring the merits of that trivial list. —Erik (talkcontrib) - 16:17, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

Agh! Shame I didn't get there sooner, I could have voted before the me-too proles. +Hexagon1 (t) 21:07, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
Be more forceful in pointing it out. Message all people who opposed if you want, about the new AfD. +Hexagon1 (t) 21:20, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
Wow, I never knew about that policy. But I kind of suspected that it was a Bad Thing(tm). +Hexagon1 (t) 21:40, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
That's the problem with having a sole enwiki. We should really branch off en-us so we're left with en-normal and I guarantee that vandalism and morons will basically disappear overnight. :) +Hexagon1 (t) 22:50, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
Hehe, true. Shame, looks like the WP:PAers will win the AfD, ridiculous. I retired from Wikipedia once already because it was being increasingly flooded with idiocy, and looks like it's getting worse. With old WP:EA dissolved, WP:SPOILERs abolished but things like the disgusting Race and Intelligence article series and the practical-joke new-message things remaining it's not hard to see where the 'pedia is headed. Time to look for an alternate and better conceived encyclopaedic project, it would seem. The first open web encyclopaedia was a great experiment, now it is time for the second and third generations to come along. I'm such an optimist I scare myself sometimes. :) +Hexagon1 (t) 10:48, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
What I perceive to be main problems on Wiki aren't really all that related to vandalism but policies, guidelines, and the people. An established editor with 50 thousand edits can be just as much a moron as an IP with none. They're just less obvious about it and more insidious that way. +Hexagon1 (t) 01:11, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
Yes, IPs can be a bitch - but compare Race and Intelligence with the articles (not) covered at List of Indigenous Australian group names and tell me you think that makes sense. The biggest problem with sites like Wiki, Digg and Slashdot is that most people are idiots. +Hexagon1 (t) 01:35, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
I once suggested an internet licence, half jokingly. No one listened. :) Unfortunately you're right but this is true everywhere in general and has to do with the American brand of civilisation being exported world-over. But I can't see America remaining in that position for too long, their economy is basically contingent on flag-waiving and blind patriotism in the face of bankruptcy and their culture is now loathed world over (though we're all guilty of following it slightly). Have a look at Japan today, half the language has been supplanted by Americanisms (A glass of orenji juitsu, anyone? I'm off to listen to the rajio, they're talking about basuketobaaru.). I had a look at the diacritics argument (you have no idea how elated I am by just the fact that someone else knows the word) and have to say it is all to familiar - I was heavily involved in the caron/háček disputes and have seen my fair share of "agh! scary dot! i vote for teh fake word that means nothing and isn't in any dictionary rather then the established word for hundreds of years. i g2g now, missing the o'reili factor". PS: Look here for a hero and here for a cheap laugh, but the price is crying yourself to sleep from then-on. +Hexagon1 (t) 02:12, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
Just make sure you don't carry any Queen Elizabeth's money which are all triangles because they have four sides. Do you mind if I ask how old you are? Just curious, feel free not to answer if you don't want to. +Hexagon1 (t) 02:39, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
At least you never attended an Australian public school. Believe me when I say your pessimism is baseless compared to mine. I can trace back so many good memories, including classmates sticking staplers through their ears, and a group of kids sitting in a circle just eating snow (they'd never seen it before) without talking - talk about abstract. +Hexagon1 (t) 03:42, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

I spent my first ten years in CR and it was a real experience starting an Aussie school, and doing multiples of nine in the Year 5 (sixth year of school). :) I think the fall of America will be gradual and a different power will step in to protect the interests of the West, the EU or a successor, perhaps? We'll see soon enough. I agree with your comparison of Bush, the similarities between the Bush regime and the Hitler regime are striking, even in the fact they both support themselves by picking on an ethnic group. The major difference is that Hitler did some good for Germany in the first few years before he went off his rocker, what's Bush done for the world? About socialism, difficult question - I really don't know. I look at, say, inheritance and am disgusted, but I have no faith that communism could ever be implemented. I guess I support a strong free market but surrounded with an even more powerful social net to protect people from becoming the run-off from capitalism. It's difficult for me to be anti-free market because I am a consumerist whore (though that will be rectified as soon as I realise I have no money left to feed that habit) but even I can see that the system isn't working. +Hexagon1 (t) 04:15, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

Well now it's 4:54 pm here, and yea, I have tried the quiz a while back though I forgot what I got, these are my results when I did it just a few minutes ago: Economic Left/Right: -6.25, Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.46. I did it pretty quickly though and if I did it again giving the questions more consideration the result might change a little. As you said, it is a little dumb, I doubt such simple graphs are adequate for representing how one stands on issues, the Political Compass may be better than just left-right but suffers from many of the same flaws. +Hexagon1 (t) 05:54, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
I used to know someone from Alberta, I always thought he was the spitting image of American youth - iPods, brand-name beanies and extremely Christian too. Well, good night! +Hexagon1 (t) 06:12, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
You don't want a Czech layout, it swaps 'y' and 'z' and basically all non-letter keys are shuffled. Try this for Windows, it's the one I use (and made). It's modelled on the Mac US international layout and uses dead keys, so for example to write háček you'd press [h] [AltGr + e][a] [AltGr + v][c] [e] [k]. AltGr is either the right Alt key or Ctrl+Alt. V is the dead key for háček/caron (ˇ), E for acute (´) and U for umlaut (¨). Those are the only differences between it and a standard US layout. If you want more diacritics it is easy to do. I'm off now, see you. +Hexagon1 (t) 06:26, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

Hi! I hope that you would reconsider the deletion of this entry. SIP Magazine is an important part of the Filipino Cafe Lifestyle. Most Filipinos actually consider the magazine to be a trailblazer in its category -- as it even hopes to penetrate the whole SouthEast Asian market. As of the moment, SIP magazine has more than 50,000 regular readers and these people are all excited to learn more about the magazine via Wikipedia. Dear Mr. Smart, You are right about the commas, but not about the diacritics, because both of the books were published in the UK without the diacritics above the names of the authors so you should tell of the publishers and not me. Hello Dominik92,
i noticed you had removed the link to 'German occupation of Czechoslovakia' from the page about the Czech Rep.,
claming its 'already linked in body'.
May I ask then why do you allow the 'Expulsion of Germans from Czechoslovakia after World War II' link to remain
in the See also section, because its links is also already present in the article (just to the left of Mr. Havel's head).

The Czechs

Dear Dominik, I would like to tell you one thing, the literature is quated so that people can find it and read it. Now try to look for a book by Berka, Palán and Šťastný on Yahoo...doesnt exist.Try it without diacrictics. Yes here we are! We do correct diacritics in the articles, but not in the quatations, because when you change diacritics in a quatation then it is not a quatation anymore. Dr. Ladislav Holý personaly quats his books in English text without diacritics and I called Mr.Šťastný and he told me they do the same. But as you saw I corrected the name of Mr.Palán in your way, because wikipedia is here for you and not for the authors, who write books like H+B+P+Š... --La Checa (talk) 23:49, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Moogara

Hi, just a courtesy note to let you know I removed your speedy deletion tag. I just want to give the author time to add some references - I googled the place and it exists, so perhaps it's notable for something... if not, then I'm happy for it to be deleted. I've started articles for little tiny towns that on size alone, would be deleted, except that they're important for economic or historical reasons. Perhaps this new user just doesn't know they have to specify that, so I want to at least give them a chance. Thanks, Somno (talk) 04:02, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, it's definitely a bit of a mess! If the original editor can't come up with any more references, I'll give it a go myself. Then if I find it's not notable, I'll prod it. :) Somno (talk) 04:14, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

Be more descriptive

You can find more descriptive words than it. Since you are practically owning the page, I suggest you look in the thesaurus and replace "it" with a proper noun. miranda 17:03, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

I was following the standard layout of previous episodes and "the episode" is extremely redundant, also if you compare my edit and your subsequent edit, you pretty much reverted my grammar fixes, why? The Dominator (talk) 22:11, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
If you want the episode to make GA, proper nouns have to replace "it's" and "its", etc. By the way, "yours" and "your's" are not the same. IIRC, "your's" is not even a word. "Your's" = "Your is". Cheers. miranda 00:17, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
Where did I mix up "yours" and "your's" can you point me to the specific edit, I rarely make that error. Anyway, where in the GA criteria does it say that you can't use pronouns??? Wouldn't it sound really crappy if it kept repeating "the episode", of course pronouns are used, FA's use them, what exactly are you talking about? The Dominator (talk) 00:20, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
1.) See the above link. 2.) GAs and FAs need much improvement in that realm. No such rule exists, but the grammar rule is "inferred". Case in point: My FA doesn't mention "it". 4.) That's why thesauruses are made. 5.) I am done here. miranda 00:26, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, I saw it, well it's just an edit summary, but really who are you to change an article because you think that rules should be changed. Look for example at Cape Feare a FA Simpson episode and the third sentence is It is a spoof of the 1962 film Cape Fear as well as its 1991 remake, but alludes to other horror films. I also don't know what you keep talking about creative wording and thesaurus's, your edits never included any more colorful words than mine. Without pronouns, the prose would be very dull usually, of course "it" can be avoided, but I see no reason to do so, it sounds just fine, you can interchange "the episode" and "it", neither is more "creative" than the other. Hi! This is Limetolime.

I've fixed the prose problems in the plot (I'm pretty sure) and I'm begging you to please take a second look at the article and see if you still think the article should be opposed. If you will, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! Limetolime talk to me look what I did! 21:38, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

Hey this is Limetolime.

All of the changes you have requested have been done by me, but you have stated that there are more. Could ou please state them ALL here so I can do them? Thanks! Limetolime talk to me look what I did! 23:23, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

Spellcheck

How do I run an article through a spellcheck? Limetolime talk to me look what I did! 00:17, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

I did it!

Well, I did all that you asked for on The Muppets' Wizard of Oz and I'm fairly sure you'll support the nomination. (And no, I didn't just merge the "Reception" section with the "Comparison to the 1939 film" section. I was able to find more reviews, put them on the article, and cite them. Tell me what you think of the article now! Limetolime talk to me look what I did! 23:39, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Prague S

Sorry, I withdrew the oppose because I'm hard-pressed to review just a proportion of FACs. Relying on you and your friends to fix now. It's a good article, I think. Keep polishing even after promotion. Well done. TONY (talk) 11:50, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

WSWP

If you can I'd appreciate it if you took over my West Slavic WikiProject proposal for the next few weeks, I've got exams and am generally really busy and stressed with trying to understand anything we did for the last half a year of school, but I don't want to see the proposal die. I guess you can ring up the separate wikiprojects again and see if you can muster up some more support while emphasising that we'd like to collapse the wikiproject into a taskforce and as such every involved editor really needs to make a decision. Or something of the sort, I leave it up to you if you accept. If you're busy never mind. Thanks! +Hexagon1 (t) 00:23, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks! I should still be able to help some time but I really can't predict my schedule or if I'll have time for Wikipedia at all. Thanks again. +Hexagon1 (t) 00:32, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Per your valid point, I changed my vote to Delete.Mysteryquest (talk) 15:22, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

Citizenship

Hey, just a quick question, what citizenship do you have? Did you keep Czech or take up Canadian? Did you lose Czech if you did so? In either case, this (.doc) may interest you, beware the legalese though. :) +Hexagon1 (t) 01:18, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

You have Czech citizenship (legally you're a Czech citizen even though the government uses the word 'občan' for something else entirely). The link is to a proposed citizenship law reform I'm wading through that seems to enable full dual citizenship. Oddly enough, out of the three Czechs I know well IRL, all have dual under the current law's exceptions. One got Aussie citizenship through marriage, one by birth and one due to having had it taken by communists and getting it back under a recent law. Only I was left out in the cold with only Czech, so understandably the current reform makes me very excited (I need Aussie to use a system I need in order to get into uni). I thought it may interest you as well. +Hexagon1 (t) 02:38, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
Look here, an article I mostly wrote: Czech nationality law. If you take Canadian you automatically lose Czech. You still carry the passport and they don't know you are not a Czech, but if they find out all sort of nasty legal charges can get laid against you if you have used a citizenship you don't have. If you are Canadian and ask for Czech, you have to prove you've renounced Canadian before they give you Czech. There are a few exceptions, marriage, birth and communist-taken citizenships (which oddly cover everyone around me, as I've mentioned). With this reform that would (possibly, still reading it) change. +Hexagon1 (t) 02:54, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
My article... my precioussss.... Yes, the style is murder - but it's nothing to what I had to read and search to get to it. I've only been scanning it until now, got to sit down and read it sometime soon. So far it is simply sitting on my desktop, mocking me. :) Exams haven't started yet, I'm supposed to be studying for them now (but you know that goes... ohh, shiny!). I do English Advanced, English Extension 1, Mathematics, Maths Ext 1, Chemistry, Physics and Modern History. The NSW education system is awful though, so don't imagine we're actually doing anything but being given work-sheets with new and impossibly difficult facts and formulae every few months. About the sig - I used to use fancy sigs too, but over time, we experienced ones have learnt simplicity works best. In time, young n00b, you shall realise this too. :) +Hexagon1 (t) 03:24, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
If I said your school is a million times better than mine, would you believe me? I think I've previously described some incidents at my school to you. Our current claims to fame are that currently an ex-student is on an Idol-type show here, and another student was charged with attempted murder of one of the teachers. We just ooze quality. Most of the student body wishes they were in a Catholic school. +Hexagon1 (t) 03:39, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
Well Sydney is basically a bunch of villages stuck to each other if that makes you feel better. It's even hard to get from one to another due to the pathetic transport system. And I've never seen a Wal-Mart in my life. (Though that may be due to never having been on the same continent as one) Our school is a collection of concrete bunkers that is annoyingly close to the airport. +Hexagon1 (t) 03:54, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
McDonalds' are placed really strangely here, but yes, they're everywhere. We're in no shortage of churches either, there's seven in my suburb alone. My following soccer extends to being happy if Czech won (and embarrassed like last cup in Germany), and hockey is simply non-existent here. Cricket, rugby league and rugby union are the three pillars of Australian society, and you have no idea how much they're into those sports. +Hexagon1 (t) 04:10, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
It's 2:56pm here, and Czechia sounds weird to me too, but then again I was never a fan of the word 'Czech', why a Polish name? Good night! +Hexagon1 (t) 04:57, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

Xbox 3

As per CSD G4 as a repost of an orginally deleted page. No reliable sources that exactly explains what Xbox 3 is going to be like or a definite time that its going to come out. The sources indicated are barely rumours. Fattyjwoods (Push my button) 07:32, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
