Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Gee Bee Model R. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. Alexf(talk) 13:17, 19 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Gee Bee Model R. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. If you continue spamming, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Guys -- Apologies if I'm doing this wrong, I only figured out this "talk page" thing this morning.

I'm confused. Over the years I've made several WIkipedia links, similar to those above, to articles of mine which have been published in magazines. These links raised no flags and are still active. The links discussed here do lead to pages residing on my website, but they are not pages about me (I don't even have a page about me on the site at all), I'm not selling anything, I make no money from the pages, my articles are accurate and sourced, and I offer information which is not available on Wikipedia and of interest to your visitors. I'm aware that Wikipedia doesn't affect my Google ranking; I did not post the links for that reason. These links are offered in good faith, to add info for Wikipedia visitors. The fact that other editors are OK with such links, while you are not, seems arbitrary. Don Hollway (talk) 13:19, 25 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
