Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Donald1659. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about in the article Isobar (company), you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. Lemongirl942 (talk) 17:54, 4 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Ma'am, I am really not sure why you posted this here. Perhaps you have the wrong page? Good day! Donald1659 (talk) 19:17, 4 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
No, she's got the right page, all right. MSJapan (talk) 03:59, 5 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Notice of Conflict of interest noticeboard discussion[edit]

Information icon This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard regarding a possible conflict of interest incident in which you may be involved. Thank you. MSJapan (talk) 03:59, 5 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Student assignments[edit]

Hallo Donald, You've said on DGG's talk page that you're working on Isobar for a student assignment. Please read Wikipedia:Student assignments and encourage your course leader to do so too. You need to add the {{Educational assignment}} banner to the article talk page to indicate that it's the subject of a student assignment, with dates, and hopefully with a link to the "Course page" your instructor has created or will create, as do all the other students on the course.

In view of the comments above, it would also be helpful if you made a statement on this page to say that you have no connection with the company Isobar - see our WP:COI for the kind of connection which can be seen to lead to a "Conflict of Interest". When someone who has not edited much shows a focussed interest in a particular article, particularly one where there might be commercial interests, people tend to wonder whether there's a COI. Sorry that you're introduction to editing has been a bit messy - Happy Editing for the future. There's a lot to learn about editing Wikipedia but it's an interesting journey! PamD 10:54, 5 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You also say on DGG's page I also left a note on the discussion page explaining my plan to try and improve the article., but I can't see anything from you at Talk:Isobar (company). PamD 10:58, 5 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, I see: the AfD page. Fair enough. PamD 11:00, 5 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
this is a very interesting example where the editor, in perfect good faith, seems to have made edits some of which are indistinguishable from promotional edits.
The problem, Donald, is with your assignment: On the basis of experience with classes, it is generally not a good idea for an instructor to give an assignment like this to beginners. An assignment for beginners should be one that is certain or reasonably certain to be accepted. PamD gave you the proper advice about having the instructor contact WP for assistance with the course. Proposed deletion of Dhruva Harsh[edit]

The article Dhruva Harsh has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The coverage (references, external links, etc.) does not seem sufficient to justify this article passing Wikipedia:General notability guideline and the more detailed Wikipedia:Notability (biographies) requirement. If you disagree and deprod this, please explain how it meets them on the talk page here in the form of "This article meets criteria A and B because..." and ping me back through WP:ECHO or by leaving a note at User talk:Piotrus. Thank you.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Lisa Koshy AfD[edit]

Hi. I have just removed the series of "this editor appears to have been canvassed" tags that you appended to several editors' comments on this AfD. As I've explained on the AfD page, several of the editors whose comments were tagged are among the main editors of the subject article, and would have been aware of the AfD from the notice on the article, without any reason to believe they were canvassed. While general comments about outside publicity or unbalanced canvassing for an AfD may be appropriate, a specific editor's comment should not be tagged unless there is a specific reason to do so. Thank you. Newyorkbrad (talk) 21:12, 18 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for explaining so politely. Donald1659 (talk) 15:35, 20 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you[edit]

Hi. Thanks for your edit on Joseph J. Dantone. Actually, I created that article by mistake. I intended to create it in my own userspace, but by mistake, I ended up creating it in the articlespace. I have now moved it to my userspace. Thanks again. See you around :) —usernamekiran(talk) 19:47, 17 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for letting me know. Maybe we can work together on some other articles. Like you said, see you around! Donald1659 (talk) 23:35, 17 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Dhruva Harsh, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
