Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you disrupt Wikipedia, as you did at Our Lady of the Lakes High School (Michigan). You seem to be having some serious issues editing this article in the required neutral manner. Do you have some connection to this school? It may help you to remember that this is not the school's page on Wikipedia, it is instead Wikipedia's page on the school. We only report based on what independent reliable sources are saying about the school, not what the school says about itself, and what we write will be written in a neutral voice. PLEASE read the links you were provided at the top of this page. Ask questions. Use edit summaries so other editors know what you are doing. I will be happy to help you get this right. All you have to do is stop editing, read a bit and ask. The alternative is not so pretty. John from Idegon (talk) 19:38, 18 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Donnerpass. In researching a little bit, I can see several places where your input would be very useful in creating a proper article about this school. For starts, according to the NCES, the source for all information reported to the Federal government on schools and pretty much the definitive secondary source on schools, the correct name for the school is "Our Lady Of The Lakes Catholic School" and it is a PreK-12 school, not a high school.[1] The article should be rewritten to reflect this. When you are ready to do it, let me know and I will move the article to its proper name. The history section is referenced to a dead link on the school's website. if you know of a source, please provide it. The guy I removed (the Bishop of Lansing, I think) from the notables will be able to be included once the article is re-written. The history section needs to be re-written removing the history of the Parrish, as that is off-topic on this article on the school. I cannot say definitively, but it is quite possible the Parrish may be notable enough to have its own article. You should check with WikiProject Catholicism on that by posting an inquiry on the project's talk page.

Please please remember to write neutrally, and stick to the facts only. Encyclopedia articles are supposed to be dry. Sentences like "They are know for their tradition of excellence in athletics as well as in the classroom" are never going to be appropriate. Instead, show referenced facts that would lead the reader to reach that conclusion. The school has a pretty impressive athletic history. I wish you well, and do sincerely want to help you create a great encyclopedia article for your school. Happy editing! John from Idegon (talk) 23:43, 18 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Robotics[edit]

Thanks Donerpass for your efforts on the Lakes wikipedia page.

I thought it would be fun for one of the kids on the robot team to add a little blurb about the Robot team on wikipedia, and they did, but John from Idegon removed it.

It looks like you might be figuring out the rules about how to get information on and getting it to stay on.

Thank you for your efforts, and as you figure it out and could put something on about the robot team, or could inform me how to do it I would appreciate it.

I have read the directions on how to add an image, but I am still not clear on how to do it. I want to add a school crest or logo to that school's Wiki page.

Can anyone help me out?

Thank you! Donerpass (talk) 23:10, 28 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Adding a logo is much trickier than adding a photo you have taken, as it involves an exception to the copyright laws. On the left side of the page, there is a tab that says "Upload a file". Click that and a wizard will open to assist you. You want to upload it to Wikipedia, not to Commons, as they do not host "fair-use" files (that is the name of the copyright exception). If the image is on the web, you will need to download it to your computer first. I would suggest leaving the page you downloaded it from open as you will need that pages's address. anyway, just answer the boxes on the wizard to the best of your ability. you can use the rationale at this page (File:Lakeshore High School logo.png) as an example. it is a copyrighted logo. Once you have it uploaded, enter the name of the file in the field on the infobox named "logo" exactly as follows: [[File:File's name|200px]]. Sorry, it is a confusing process. if you want, you can just post the url for where the image is here and I will be glad to do it for you. John from Idegon (talk) 21:21, 29 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Shrine Catholic HS[edit]

Hi. Here are the most recent figures from the NCES if you want to update the enrollment. They are for 2013-14, which is actually one year newer than the nces figures for the public schools. http://nces.ed.gov/surveys/pss/privateschoolsearch/school_detail.asp?Search=1&SchoolID=00637581&ID=00637581 If you read closely what the enrollment figures at MHSAA say, they are adjusted. Not sure exactly what that means, but it certainly means they are NOT actual, and hence not the best source. Happy editing. John from Idegon (talk) 23:32, 16 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@John from Idegon Hi John. Yes the figures are accurate and they are for the upcoming 2015-16 school year (just released). Every high school participating in athletics in the state of Michigan submits their enrollment for the upcoming year to the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA). The MHSAA then classifies each school into Classes (A,B,C and D). The non-coed schools enrollment is then adjusted. In other words, if an all boys school has and actual enrollment of 500 students, their enrollment is adjusted by doubling it to determine the Class they will compete in. This is done to equalize the enrollment and level the playing field (so to speak)of girls vs girls and boys vs boys. In this example, the all boys school's enrollment would be considered to be 1,000 rather than 500 for competitive reasons only. Again, only non-coed schools enrollment is adjusted. I hope this helps clarify the issue of adjusting enrollment.

Hey, how are you? This guy is notable without a doubt (IMO). As such I removed the speedy tag, but you really do need to put more effort into an article before you take it to the encyclopedia. Might I suggest that this article, and the one mentioned above, both might have been better created in Draft space so you could work them up to a decent level without having to deal with deletion tagging? I've told you before, you cannot use a photograph as a reference. If you would like, I'd be happy to move both this and the above article into draft space for you to improve, and in the future, if you want to do an article on say, Steven Foo, that instead of creating the article at Steven Foo, it would serve both you and the encyclopedia better if you instead created it at Draft:Steven Foo.
Here is a search link where you can find some sources for Mr. Smith: https://www.google.com/#q=%22christopher+columbus+smith%22&tbm=nws Since the requirement for an article to be kept is based on what has been written about the subject in reliable sources, searches on Google News, Google Books and Google Scholar produce more usable results. Also, if you play around with the search tools on Google news, you can get to their newspaper archive, which contains photocopies of old newspapers that have never been listed on a paper's website. Here is the link for that for Mr. Smith: https://www.google.com/#q=%22christopher+columbus+smith%22&tbm=nws&tbs=ar:1

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited List of Lutheran schools in the United States, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Lutheran High School North.
