Original account[edit]

Hi,
can I advise you to declare your original account and, if possible, continue editing with it? I presume you previously edited with Tony111ster (talk · contribs) based on your interest in Sabreman Stampede. The general rule is, as laid out in the respective Wikipedia policy: "one editor, one account".
If you have any questions about this, feel free to ask! Thanks, Amalthea 09:37, 18 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I hope this shows up on your watch feed.

No, I do not have any other accounts on this wiki. I merely wished to read the deleted page and was unable to find a way to do so.

I contribute to wiki.maemo.org and that wiki has a feature that allows anyone to read deleted/edited pages by modification timestamp. I've had to recover pages there (and was able to do so without elevated privileges) due to certain individuals selfishly removing anything that was relevant to themselves (legacy devices in this case).

While, the page I requested more than likely contains no useful information I was simply surprised that I was unable to read the deleted page (if there is a way to do so, please point me in the right direction) and was directed by the standard wikipedia help to direct my queries to the user that deleted the entry (johncd) and the page deletion crew (which evidently you are a part of).

There was several other pages that I attempted to look up but was merely directed to a "this page was deleted" which is unhelpful and frustrating. Simply using a search engine to gather certain types of information is at best tedious, wading through copycat blog posts, outdated information, squatter sites, and abandoned sites. Thus being able to look through deleted entries would be nice. In fact I'd rather Wikipedia say "This page doesn't exist...but you can start it!" than "Sorry this page was deleted. There is nothing you can do about it, I'm just being a tease."

Sorry for being a bother. Additionally I apologize for not following the proper etiquette; your talk page asks users to reply directly to your comments and I'm not sure the appropriate way to do so. Dontdeletepages (talk) 08:30, 20 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No worries, and no apology necessary.
I understand that it can be frustrating to find a deleted page and not be able to view the content, and not even being able to tell whether there may have been useful content there or not. The only way to view deleted revisions is, unfortunately, to become an admin here, which requires some dedication. I've never seen the display of the deletion log as a tease; for me it has always been helpful, since it avoids creation of articles on topics that were previously found unsuitable, and normally direct editors directly to the deletion discussion so that they can find out why and by whom the page was deleted, or at least makes them aware of the reason for deletion like in this case.
Kind regards, Amalthea 08:50, 21 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
