  • There were some issues with your article, but the biggest has to be pertaining to reliable sources. We need to have more sources that are independent of the magazine itself. The magazine is definitely notable, but that doesn't mean that every feature in the magazine is independently notable by itself. Linking to the stories is nice, (I'm calling them stories because they're more than just pictures, obviously) but it doesn't show notability. It just shows that the stories existed and are considered primary sources. We need coverage that is independent and reliable, such as a newspaper covering the feature and the stories or a book that talks about the IF feature. Listings in databases such as the Comic Book Database does not show notability and would be considered only a trivial source that could back up little things here and there. Be aware that blogs, forum posts, and the like aren't considered to be reliable sources. Blogs can be sometimes usable if they're by someone who is considered to be an absolute authority, but most blogs don't fit these requirements.
Another thing that I'd warn about is that the article didn't read entirely non-neutral and felt a little promotional at times. By this I don't mean that you're trying to sell magazine issues, but that it comes across as more of a fan writing than a neutral and encyclopedic essay. Phrases like "A Thrilling New Magazine" should be avoided overall, with the headings being more along the lines of "Magazine relaunch". Statements like that should only be included if it's a catch phrase for the magazine (such as "Wonder Stories: A Thrilling New Magazine" being the title) or if it's a quote by a independent and reliable source such as a news article. Finally, the last thing I'd like to warn you about is hotlinking to the posts in the article. It's just fairly messy and is generally something that isn't recommended. What I'd more recommend is that if possible, you find a directory listing for the magazine on that website and just link to it in the external link section. If this isn't possible, then you don't have to link to every IF ever made and I'd discourage that since it'd be seen as potential link spam, but linking to one or two of the most recognizable and important ones in the EL section. (See WP:RS, WP:PRIMARY, WP:BLOG, WP:NPOV, WP:ELNO, WP:EL) I also recommend that you look into getting someone from Wikipedia:WikiProject Comics to help you out, since they can be an invaluable source for finding RS and getting the article into shape. I do think that there might be some notability here, but this still needs a lot of work.Tokyogirl79 (talk) 08:33, 22 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Categories[edit]

There are two ways to list categories: (1) Adding [[Category:American painters]] will list the category at the bottom of the article and the article will appear at the category's page. (2) To list a category at, say, a talk page, you would add a colon before "Category:". Example: [[:Category:American painters]] would appear as Category:American painters at a talk page. Cheers! Hi Dore Ripley, I've changed my reason for declining your article. I'd strongly suggest, if the subject of the article is "IF", that you make this abundantly clear in the first paragraph of your article. You'll also need to provide proof that "IF" is widely known and talked about. Sionk (talk) 02:32, 6 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
