Declined A7 speedies

[edit]

Hi Dr42 -- I've declined your A7 on Shyamal Kanti Biswas because being a vice-chancellor of a university is a clear claim of notability, and might alone be enough to meet WP:PROF.

I've also declined a couple of A7s on articles currently at AfD: Adhora Khan & Khan Joynul Unless it's a clear snow delete, generally it's best to let the discussion run its course, and generate a firm decision that is difficult to challenge. Regards, Espresso Addict (talk) 01:47, 20 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your explanation, however the user/creator of the articles has been deleting CSD tags of articles that he has created and then the articles go to AFD without actually being assessed by an editor or an admin. I was simply re-adding the illicitly removed CSD tags per WP:SPEEDY. Perhaps you'll reconsider, but either way, thank you for your help. Dr42 (talk) 01:50, 20 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Creators of articles aren't permitted to remove speedy tags; the editor who takes the article to AfD should be assessing the article and its history and replacing the speedy tag if warranted. But 5 days downstream, when the AfD has comments, there's really no point in replacing them.
Looking at Khan Joynul, I don't think that is A7 material: someone dead long before the internet with a long list of films, some of which have articles, and wording such as "known for" cited to sources has a good chance of being notable.
As an aside, if you intend to patrol new articles, you should not blank your talk page. Notes such as this one or complaints from creators about your tagging should be retained and archived so that admins can monitor the quality of your patrolling. Cheers, Espresso Addict (talk) 02:18, 20 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I am not blanking the talk page, I am simply archiving the material therein. If an admin wants to "monitor" my quality, they can either reach out to me on my talk page or engage in a discussion on the talk page of the relevant article. I think you can agree that I don't go around making malicious edits; in fact I try to be courteous and engaging throughout my participation on Wikipedia. However, I appreciate your guidance and the feedback. Have a good day. Dr42 (talk) 02:26, 20 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for putting a clear link to your archive on the talk page; I didn't see one when I commented. Cheers, Espresso Addict (talk) 02:49, 20 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I stupidly had it on my User Page. Haha. Fixed now. Thanks again. Dr42 (talk) 02:50, 20 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
