Conflict of interet

[edit]

Information icon Hello, LipedemaProject. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. Deli nk (talk) 11:54, 22 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on your user page, User:LipedemaProject, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be blatant advertising which only promotes or publicises a company, product, group or service, and which is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages; user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Contested deletion

[edit]

This page is not unambiguously promotional, because The Lipedema Project research based and focused on raising awareness about lipedema, a little known and under recognized fat disorder. Let me know if I should delete the Lipedema Project account on wikipedia and do updates (the page asks for references which I am doing from the scientific literature)from my own name or variation of it Catherine Seo PhD --LipedemaProject (talk) 12:13, 22 May 2016 (UTC)LipedemaProject (Catherine Seo PhD)[reply]

There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 14:24, 22 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

change user name

[edit]

I understand that choosing a username that represented the organization showed bias, my goal is to update the article, which is in need of scientific references with appropriate scholarly and medical sources, which I started to do. Since I am review articles on Pubmed and other medical databases for this little known fat disorder, I have access to the literature about lipedema. My goal is to have the page reflect the factual and evidential knowledge available.

I thought inaccurately that it would be best to do it under the organization rather than myself. I would request to change my username, so that I can continue to make contributions.

I am really impressed with the speed and manner in which this was done and communicated. I myself go to wikipedia when needed, but I now am more certain about the integrity of the system. My error was made because I have done very little editing and am relatively new to making changes here, though I was part of originally setting up the page on lipedema a few years ago, and occasionally made updates.

{{unblock-spamun|DrC|so that I can continue to contribute scholarly and medical sources and references needed in the article on lipedema. My goal is to have the page reflect the factual and evidential knowledge available.}}

DrC already exists here, but the editor has not contributed for several years. You can either apply to usurp the account, or choose another name. --Anthony Bradbury"talk" 17:07, 22 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Anthony Bradbury, FWIW, I have no objection to an unblock once a new name has been settled. User:LipedemaProject, always best to start a page as a draft [[Draft:article title]], if you need any other guidance, let me know Jimfbleak - talk to me? 06:45, 23 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
