Trapped in the Barnstar

[edit]

To not have your "Talk" trapped in the box, I'm guessing you need to start a new topic like this one. Then just edit this box? Jamiecarl1992 (talk) 09:46, 26 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

A barnstar for you!

The Original Barnstar
I'm awarding you this for being the first one in your class to successfully publish a stub for the page you're working on. Keep it up!

Why thankyou very much for the Barnstar! Honestly quite surprised, thought I was quite late on the update. << >>
Though I seem to be having trouble posting this in a way which won't get it trapped in the Barnstar box...--Dregan Phillips (talk) 18:13, 25 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

stubs

[edit]

Hi Sean, I've just noticed what you put on a fellow student's talk page: "about how to label your article a stub ..... All you need to do is put this; {{Wikipedia-stub}} At the top of the page you want to be a stub.". Well, "no", and "no".

  1. In English Wikipedia stub tags go at the end, after everything except inter-language links (see WP:ORDER).
  2. {{wikipedia-stub}} means it's a stub article which is actually about Wikipedia! The general stub tag is {{stub}}. Someone else (often me, as a stub-sorter) will come along and refine it to {{US-theat-stub}} or whatever's appropriate.

(Incidentally there's another way to write a tag, or template, without it going live: if you use "tl" ("template literal, I think), so you write {{tl|stub}}. Just an alternative to the "nowiki" method you used on her page.)

There's a lot to learn about editing Wikipedia, but it's an interesting journey! Happy Editing. PamD 14:59, 27 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there Pam, thanks for the feedback. Sorry about the mistake there - I read through the Wikipedia:Stub page, and somewhat misread the explanation. The phrasing of the first paragraph sort of threw me a little and gave me the wrong impression, but re-reading it, you are indeed correct. I was kind of in a rush at the time due to the Educational Assignment aspect and trying to meet deadlines and such - I should have taken a bit more time to read it and fully understand what I was saying. I apologise for the hassle, and thanks once again for helping out. I'll go do some correcting on my own page and then go alert the other students to my mistake. --Dregan Phillips (talk) 15:24, 27 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
As you'll see, I've fixed the stub tag. Your urgent job is to find some "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject," as required by WP:GNG, to show that this group is "Notable" in Wikipedia terms and justify the existence of the article! Good luck. (And the little other task of adding it to the dab page at AOM). PamD 15:31, 27 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Avatar Orchestra Metaverse requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. —teb728 t c 20:40, 27 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Dregan Phillips. You have new messages at PamD's talk page.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.
Notice

The article Avatar Orchestra Metaverse has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Does not seem to have been covered by WP:RS, dubious if it meets WP:NMUSIC

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
