August 2012[edit]

Hello, I'm Yobol. I wanted to let you know that I removed an external link you added, because to me it seemed inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page, or take a look at our guidelines about links. Thanks, Yobol (talk) 21:59, 10 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. Yobol (talk) 22:04, 10 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. If you continue spamming, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. I disagree with your assessment that I am spamming the site. The articles I contributed are information only, not promotional. The last link was on Discovery Health. There is no link at all to any sites I operate. I saw a link in the same section I just added to, dental cavities that was written by an individual. That was fine? I do think you made a mistake Yobol and are way too aggressive. The articles I write are on hundreds of different sites, so I thought Wiki would appreciate them. Unfortunately one person with out any oversight can ruin a good thing. It's really too bad. Dr. Gordon Drjerrygordon (talk) 15:39, 11 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Drjerrygordon. I'm sorry you feel I am too aggressive, but here on Wikipedia, we have to follow our guidelines and policies on how to improve the project. One of those guidelines is our guidelines on external links, which I suggest you read as it has been linked to you above numerous times. In short, Wikipedia is not a collection of links to outside sources, but an encyclopedia. You write that you have expertise in the dental field, and if so, your help on improving the writing of our dental articles would be much appreciated. We need all the expert editors we can get. If you feel strongly that a particular external link should be added, you can follow our dispute resolution process by starting a section on the talk page of the article or taking this up at the external links noticeboard to get some outside input. I hope you stick around to help us improve our articles, as our dental articles do need help, and are not just here to post external links to articles writting by one specific individual. Cheers.
