Thanks! Well, I've done the crossed-out parts, the governorates and military repositioning part, telecommunications and sports, plus updated the economy bit. Also fixed the dead links. Only thing left is to summarize the History bit because it is unnecessarily long (and the History of Bahrain page already has these data, so we can merely link it as the main article), compared to other good articles such as Croatia and Scotland, the history section (at least the Al Khalifa part) needs a good summary. Besides that, the only thing left are technical issues such as reference formatting. Should be a good candidate! :) --Droodkin (talk) 09:51, 1 July 2012 (UTC)

I've removed plagiarism from the article. I recommend using Duplication Detector tool in the future before nominating articles to DYK. Most of the references used currently are primary, which isn't helpful when establishing notability and might make the article end up going through WP:AfD. To assert notability, per Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies), you need to insert secondary independent sources (it's always better to use secondary sources when available, because use of primary sources is very limited and in most cases it is not enough for inclusion in the article and doesn't help with notability). To-do list
Hey, I saw your To-do list, it's always good to have an updated one so others know what you're planning for and can help you with it. I see that you want to expand the article History of Bahrain. This article need great expansion, especially the modern history part. You might as well want to create a new article Modern history of Bahrain. I created Background of the 2011–2012 Bahraini uprising a while back and that was a bit hard, because I had to search for references as those topics were not covered in any other article. I know it's far from complete, but nevertheless it's good as a start. Two of the best sources I heard of are Khuri (1980): Tribe and state in Bahrain and Belgrave’s diary (both banned in Bahrain, because they contradict "the 'official,' sanitized version of Bahraini history that the regime has worked hard to construct"). There are also other important sources mentioned here. So when you plan to write that article, let me know ;)

Muharram/Ashura in Bahrain
Hey, I've uploaded some images which I took this year for the sole purpose of including them here on Wikipedia. I didn't get time to reply to you, but I liked the idea. Anyway, I've uploaded most of them here. Inshalla I'll upload the rest tomorrow, and when I get time I'll work on the article. Also some describtion wasn't complete, because it used it as file name in beginning, which has a character word limit, this also explains file order. I can't promise you I'll do anything though. History books
I took your advice to rely more on books. I got Tribe and state in Bahrain by Khuri (1981). But I wasn't able to get other books which I think are important. I'm planning to write Modern history of Bahrain and since you love history I know you will help with that. It would be nice if we can get access to other books as well (such as these). I found some of those books in the National Library next to Fateh! Pretty sure you can borrow them or have them photocopied. We can move most of the stuff in the History of Bahrain page (the 20th century bit, at least) to that article and leave behind a summary in the article. Great idea though, I'll be sure to help when the time arises! As to the date when Modern history starts? It could start from the 1920s, assuming that we take the reforms of the 1920s as the start of the state in Bahrain. We could go old fashioned and start from 1783. Or from 1820s if we take the arrival of the British as the start of Modern Bahrain (Remembering their treaties and all). Looking at sample pages like Switzerland, Egypt and Yemen, modern history starts from the era of industrialisation and/or independence. Good that you reminded me of Al Fateh library. I've been there before, you can borrow many books, but not those considered to be "reference books". Instead you can read and photocopy them. This is the nasty part, you have to do it yourself, and there is only one photocopying machine there, so you have to wait if someone else was using it.
I've finished reading the first chapter and I think it would be a good idea to start from 1783, however I plan to go into much more details than the current History of Bahrain does. The article misses a lot of details. For instance there is no mention about the allies of Al Khalifa, how they treated the population and the intra-tribal wars within Al Khalifa. If I find the article getting too long (because I just love mentioning details), it would be a good idea to spit it into two or even three; History of Bahrain (1783–1869), History of Bahrain (1869–1973) and Modern history of Bahrain. I choose the year 1869 (or 1868), because it is the time when Britain took almost complete control over Bahrain and this meant that there were no foreign challenges to the rule of Al Khalifa, instead internal challenges became the most important. Thank you very much for the help you offered so far and I hate end this with "but", but it would be much better if we used different sources. The article currently relies almost completely on one source. That is not good and won't get us anywhere near GA or FA that this would be masterpiece deserves. So I highly recommend using other sources. However, should you insist on using it, I won't stop you. For me, I'm using it currently, because I've never studied Bahrain history in depth before and as I'm reading through it I learn new things. And I plan to include more sources after finishing it. The 'national treasure' remark made me blush, then laugh on myself :D I must say that reading my own country's history is very interesting, It is so interesting that it took me away from politics despite being only 10 days away from the second anniversary of the uprising. I was able to match many stories that I've heard of with facts. It's disappointing that we weren't taught about this in government schools and it's more disappointing that the same book I'm citing is still forbidden from publication. You can download all pages on Scribd for free. Just make sure you pass through all of them (you can probably skip through 5-10 pages per second if your connection is fast), then right click on the side of internet page and choose "save as" and make sure you change "Save us type" (under file name) to "Webpage, complete". After the download finishes, you'd have the whole book downloaded for free. I've done so, then printed it, because I found it difficult to read and because paper makes it feel more "real" :P If you have any difficulties, let me know. Good luck. I hope I can get done with it soon. We still have to go through the rest of 1920s reforms, oil, leftest movement, independence, etc. But since the article is currently at 31k/50k, and assuming lead is going to be 3k, then it is better just end the article when it reaches 40-42k. Hey, One is still greater than Zero :P I've posted lots of old photos on a blog I run, I'll try to track down the sources to fulfill the PD requirements. I've found the Prime Minister's biographical website and that has a lot of old photos (including ones of a young Khalifa bin Salman al-Khalifa). But the website gives no detail of the copyright status of the photos, so I don't think we can import it here. I want to inform you that I made a table for the List of educational institutions in Bahrain, since I think it would be much cleaner compared to the old list that was kinda of messy. What do you think of it? Please inform me if you find it good or I should revert it to the old list.
Plus, the page has some schools missing, for example: High Quality School and New Vision School, both located in Maqabah (I will add them soon to the list).
The table is definitely an improvement! We can expand based on this table, like adding a "Year established" column or "Curriculum" column. Also, I noticed that there are some government schools mixed in between; while I do know there are hundreds of these schools in the country, we can in the meanwhile, split the page into Public schools and private schools. Hello, I have looked around and found references to Qit'at Jaradah in page 2843 of International Maritime Boundaries, Volume 4. I believe that Qisrat Jaradah may be another name for the islands but it is evident that Qit'at is the official nomenclature. OK, I have done that. It seemed obvious but I have no familiarity with Arabic so I wanted to be certain. This change cleared up several red-links in WP and "de-orphaned" the article. One more question where the answer seems obvious from the context: There are several articles that refer to "Al-Jaradah", such as Territorial disputes in the Persian Gulf#Bahrain and Qatar.
