Contribution team IRC meeting

[edit]

Greetings! We will be having a meeting of the Contribution and Social Media teams tomorrow in #wikimedia-SM on IRC. Feel free to rebroadcast on social media and invite interested guests. The meeting will be at 11/11 19:00/7pm UTC (2pm Eastern Standard Time, 11am Pacific.) We hope to see you there! DanRosenthal Wikipedia Contribution Team 19:32, 10 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your signature makes text go funny! Or, my computer is odd

[edit]

Oh, I hate to be this person, I don't normally have a problem with signature designs, but yours does funny things to my viewing of your talk page contributions. Given that you have a role within Wikimedia and discussion on talk pages might be important, I thought it might be appropriate to bring it up with you. I use Firefox in Windows XP most of the time, and your contribution to User_talk:Moonriddengirl#Greetings_from_the_Contribution_Team and User_talk:Bearian#Greetings_from_the_Contribution_Team has really weird formatting that inserts lots of random spacing between and within words, and causes links to overlap other text. In fact, I can see that it's your signature causing it due to this comment, which you then sign here and some of it goes "odd"! Is it something you can see on your system or is it just me?! Anyway, good luck WP:CONTRIB. Bigger digger (talk) 23:49, 10 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I think it's your system? I'm reviewing it on several different browsers on a couple different OS's and I can't see the font issue. DanRosenthal Wikipedia Contribution Team 17:48, 11 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well if it's just me then never mind! If I sort myself out with an anonymous email address I'll send you a screen grab, but no big deal and life goes on. Cheers! Bigger digger (talk) 00:41, 12 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Please do, let me know. DanRosenthal Wikipedia Contribution Team 00:46, 12 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well today I looked back at the pages and although there's still odd spacing it's readable. I noticed the problem with a comment by User:Airplaneman for the first time recently. It must be something to do with the arrow you use, the airplane he uses, and my unfortunate PC setup! Bigger digger (talk) 13:56, 15 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I think that might be it. I remember a few years ago, on my other account, the arrow caused a bit of problem.DanRosenthal Wikipedia Contribution Team 18:02, 15 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Contribution Team

[edit]

Thanks for your note -- I'm responding here as requested. I've signed aboard the Contribution Team. However, I cannot attend DC meetups as I live in New Jersey -- I volunteered for the Campus Ambassador thing assuming it could be done online, and it was later explained to me that they were looking for people who could be physically present on-campus. But thanks anyway for thinking of me, and I hope I can be of help on the Contribution Team. Best, DoctorJoeE (talk) 04:12, 7 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
