License tagging for Image:Sinai.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Sinai.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Unspecified source for Image:Shree_Kamakshi_Ponda.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Shree_Kamakshi_Ponda.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then you need to specify who owns the copyright, please. If you got it from a website, then a link to the website where it was taken from with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 00:33, 19 January 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MECUtalk 00:33, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello[edit]

Dev boro dees deum!

Hello I am Deepak D'Souza

Seen your work regarding Konknai-Marathi dispute. Perhaps you may be aware, or maybe not, that there is a Konkani Wikipedia on test at Wikimedia incubator.

We are really short of contributors, and we have been trying hard to get Konkani Wikipeidans to contribute.

Would love it if you would contribute. Take a look at : http://incubator.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wp/kok

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Holy Spirit church Margao FN Norohna.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Holy Spirit church Margao FN Norohna.jpg is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only" or "used with permission for use on Wikipedia only" which was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19 or is not used in any articles (CSD I3).

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. This bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Image:Holy Spirit church Margao FN Norohna.jpg itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. If you have any questions about what to do next or why your image was nominated for speedy deletion please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thanks. --Android Mouse Bot 2 22:17, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Konkani words from other languages requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. ~ akendall 22:44, 25 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Comments on the Konkani words from other languages article[edit]

Hi,Good work on Konkani words from other languages. You have asked for my comments and so here they are:

  1. You will have to add some sources. Need not be inline citations. if it is from some book just add it in the references section.
  2. It may be more apprporiate to make the article as a subpage of Konkani language than as an independent article. Otherwise it may be tagged as non-notable . Already it has been proposed for speedy deletion once(b.t.w if an article is prod-tagged, you are not supposed to remove it. Instead you should add a hangon tag and explain why it should not be deleted). Making it a subpage will prevent someone from wanting to deltete it citing origninal research rule or non-notability. This article is only relevant to the Konkani language article and not important in itself.
  3. I ma not sure of some words such as Lafda , badal etc.; especially the Arabic-Persian words. fakt is probably from Marathi and it is not used outsed Goa(at least not in my dialect, we use maat or maatr). Others like badal, garaj etc could be from Marathi or Hindi roots, not necessarily Arabic in origin. I dont know about Telegu words. There is no physical contact between Konkani and Telegu. So I really doubt that Telugu words could be absorbed into Konkani.

I will see if I can add some sources. Hope to see more contributions from you in the future. Dev boro dees deum. --Deepak D'Souza (talkcontribs) 07:18, 18 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with File:Shenoy.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Shenoy.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.
