Contested deletion
[edit](Copied over from article's talk page as it will probably be deleted soon. Singularity42 (talk) 20:28, 19 May 2011 (UTC))
This page should not be speedy deleted because... --Dteagles (talk) 20:16, 19 May 2011 (UTC) There is no other page describing the BMW Car Club of Great Britain & Ireland, the idea was formed on the basis of the entry for the BMW Car Club of America. I do not know on what basis it would therefore be removed?
I am a director of the club and thus feel it reasonable that I should create and edit this page.
- There are two issues: 1) A copy and paste from another website - even your own - raises copyright issues. See WP:COPYPASTE. 2) You need to cite some sources that call supports the club's notability. See WP:ORG. Also, if you are the director of teh club, I would caution you about conflicts of interest. Singularity42 (talk) 20:28, 19 May 2011 (UTC)
- Also, in response to your email, I am not someone who can recieve permissions to use copyrighted materials. I am simply a fellow editor who observed that this article was copied and pasted from another website. You should follow the instructions in the section above or at WP:COPYVIO or WP:DCM. If you wish to write me a message, either post it below or on my talk page. Singularity42 (talk) 20:28, 19 May 2011 (UTC)
I tried to delete the content I copied but it was re-inserted by Wasbeer, I removed it in accordance with your instructions, I need to find a way to cite the club before I proceed. Dteagles (talk) 20:46, 19 May 2011 (UTC)

Wasbeer 20:35, 19 May 2011 (UTC) I removed the content but it was re-inserted by Wasbeer, I need to find a way to cite the club before I can continute Dteagles (talk) 20:44, 19 May 2011 (UTC)
- There's a chance it may get deleted until you are in a position to have the article ready (blanking lamost the entire article and living one sentence is generally considered non-constructive). Might I suggest starting a draft at User:Dteagles/BMW Car Club of Great Britain & Ireland? Then, when it is ready, you can have it moved into Wikipedia as an article. Singularity42 (talk) 20:49, 19 May 2011 (UTC)
OK, will do, please delete the current "live" article, thanks Dteagles (talk) 20:50, 19 May 2011 (UTC)
By way of helping me out, could you let me know how this page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_Car_Club_of_America) is verified as reliable. Since we are similar and I cannot see on their page any citations? As a club we are generally responsible for all information published about us and so it will be difficult to find independent published texts to use as a means for a citation. Dteagles (talk) 20:57, 19 May 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for pointing that article out. It has some unencyclopedic content in it, which has now been reverted. I do note that the article has at least one reference to an article from a significant newspaper talking about the club's programs...
- Anyway, automobile topics are not my area of expertise, so I'm not the best to give advice about how to write one with proper sources. Perhaps the people at Wikipedia:WikiProject Automobiles can help you out? Singularity42 (talk) 21:03, 19 May 2011 (UTC)
