Guthrie's move from Suhr

[edit]

Thanks for finding that TGP post by J. Suhr! I'm generally concerned about using forum posts as sources in articles on Wikipedia, but I think that one is the best we can do for now, let's keep it and see what happens. Again, thanks! Cheers, Nettrom (talk) 19:20, 15 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I must apologise if the validity is disputable but so far with the exception of my newest source (which I only found and posted yesterday(an interview regarding his Charvel and current status)) it was all I could find at the time. But thank you none the less, it's rather pleasing to have been constructively told what's good and bad about my edits. Thank you. (- dual1ty (talk) 23:38, 27 November 2012 (UTC))[reply]

You're most welcome! I was very happy to see you come back and re-add the content to Suhr Guitars with a source, so I thought it was only fair that I'd say thanks for a job well done!
I generally tend to prefer magazine or newspaper articles as sources when I write Wikipedia articles related to the guitar industry, but I suspect that is because I mostly write about manufacturers, where I want a reputable and impartial source (to the extent that is possible). This case is different though, because Charvel hasn't done a press release yet (as far as I know), instead the only places I've seen believable mentions of this are a couple of guitar forums (Suhr's TGP post is one of them). I haven't seen anything in the on-line guitar magazines I typically use as sources. Since this move is fairly significant, in my opinion, I'm happy to keep the source we have since it's the best we can do, and perhaps extend it or replace it when something else comes along.
