Muhammad Ali and semi-protection

[edit]

Hello, I have responded to your request to edit the article Muhammad Ali. You can view my response at Talk:Muhammad Ali.

Just as a general note, many articles on Wikipedia are what is known as "semi-protected". A semi-protected article cannot be edited by unregistered users or by registered users whose accounts do not meet minimum criteria for account age or number of edits made. Articles on Wikipedia get semi-protected for a number of reasons, often due to vandalism from a large number of unregistered users and/or users who create accounts solely for the purpose of committing vandalism. The Muhammad Ali article is one such article. In this case, you did the right thing: you requested an edit by using the {{edit semi-protected}} tag on the article's talk page. If you continue to edit non-protected pages, eventually the restriction on your account will be lifted and you will be able to edit semi-protected articles. Cheers, —KuyaBriBriTalk 18:46, 21 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
