Notability of 3-Day Weekend[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on 3-Day Weekend, by Precious Roy (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because 3-Day Weekend seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting 3-Day Weekend, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 19:15, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

3-Day Weekend[edit]

Interestingly enough this "non-notable" band is noted on Jason Stewart's Wikipedia page. Also is referenced on the Jim Rome Show's website, and is referenced on a the Jim Rome Show, a nationally syndicated program, on a regular basis.— Preceding unsigned comment added by DudeRancher91 (talkcontribs) 16:37, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Being mentioned in a Wikipedia article does not impart notability. Nor does getting mentioned on a radio show, syndicated or not. Precious Roy 17:22, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I fail to see how an independent band, who no one would know existed unless they were given air time but a radio show that is heard by millions of listeners on a daily basis is not notable. Jim Rome finds it so notable that he analyzes the song's lyrics on a regular basis and has had band members appear on his radio show. They have also played with the Queers in 2006. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DudeRancher91 (talkcontribs) 20:46, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You should familiarize yourself with WP:BAND, Wikipedia's notability guidelines for bands. Precious Roy 20:59, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

3-Day Weekend meets criteria 1, 2, 11, and 12. How many do you have to meet? By my understanding, any one of the twelve listed; they meet four. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DudeRancher91 (talkcontribs) 17:39, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You only have to meet one of the listed criteria. As long as you can back it up with verifiable, reliable sources you're all set. I don't recall any of those being in the article that was deleted. Out of curiosity, which national music chart were they on? And getting mentioned—or occasional airplay—on one radio show (even if it's syndicated) is not "rotation nationally by any major radio network". And "subject of a half hour or longer broadcast" means that they are the feature of the show. Like if Jim Rome devoted a half-hour of his show to the band, to the exclusion of everything else (them hanging out in the studio while everyone talks about sports is not the same thing). If your resources are in line then you don't have anything to worry about. Precious Roy 17:53, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
