Gnevin: Thank you for your welcome. I did look over the edit page

and I am no wiser than when I started. The only thing I can figure out is that you seem to use a repeated colon for paragraph indentation. It may take me a little while to become familiar with the various editing technics. My apologies for any inconvenience that this may cause you. I am not interested in editing any article, I will leave that to more competent individuals. My purpose is to offer information to the writers of this article that they may not have access too, that is well documented. Also, I will suggest ideas on the subject that they may not have considered. No worries ,very little if any inconvenience was caused. Basically you don't need to hit return and the end of a line just let the text flow around like I have here . Also you should WP:Be bold and consider editing as no one should WP:Bite, however if you are not comfortable with editing that is fine as your suggestions and pointers are very helpful . Dublin tramways[edit]

I've grown tired of the BS and am going to try resolve some of the open issue about Dublin's trams .If you are around to help I would appreciate your assistance again .

Gnevin: I am not sure how to contact you directly, but I would be

pleased to offer any assistance that I can. I have been researching the Dublin Tramways for over forty years and have amassed a great deal of original technical information on the system. I am a technical adviser to the tramway team at the National Transport Museum and am presently making the pinion gears for the traction motors on Hill of Howth car #9. Jim Kilroy and I email on a regular basis and he is friends with my closest friend in Ireland (Eamonn and I have known each other since 1966). Except for H. Fayle, I have known or worked with most of the Dublin Tramway author's of the past. I have been working on a book about the technical history of the Dublin tramways for many years and Jim Kilroy has been gently pushing me to finish the project. So, know I am back to work on the book. I have not been in Ireland for thirty years, I will be coming over next October, unless Jim needs me sooner, to see old friends, do more research for the book and do some hands-on work at the Museum. As you may have guessed, I don't live in Ireland. My home and engineering works is in SE Arizona, about thirty-six miles from Tombstone. Hi sorry i missed your reply. What we need is Reliable sources for the info. Can you provide any links for some of the info of the Talk:Dublin tramways page or a book?

Dublin Tramways[edit]

There are very few books or monographs that have been written about the Dublin Tramways. They all contain various amount of errors, those by H.Fayle seem to have the most. R.C.Flewitt's monographs on the Dublin Tramways and the Hill of Howth Tramway are to be recommended for their high degree of accurancy. Several other authors to consider are James Kilroy, A.T.Newham and Michael Corcoran. I use to go over to Alan Newham's house on Sunday afternoon. I told him that I found only one technical error in his monograph on the Dublin Southern Districts Tramways. He said that he had taken it from a contemporary source (point made). Jim Kilroy is not a technically minded person, but is a very excellent researcher and sites all of his sources. Michael Corcoran is primarily a bus expert and why he wrote a book about the Dublin Tramways has always baffled me. Michael does not like to give credit to sources or people that made the book possible. He likes to be the center of attention (not just my opinion, ask any of the tram enthusiast that have worked with him). One source that was never published is the work of the late Bill Birney. Without his efforts, we would not know the history of all the Dublin tramcars. All of the better known Dublin tramway writers and historians either were close friends of Bill's or consulted him on matters regarding the tramcars. My friend Eamonn and myself would spend every tuesday night at Bill's talking shop and on occasion we would bring along former employees of the DUTC, a great time for a historian. All of the material that I supply for the article is either taken from my collection of original DUTC documents or from authors or sources that I deem to be accurate.
