Memo[edit]

Hollis[edit]

Yes, my mistake. Thank you Bashereyre (talk) 19:29, 2 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well spotted with this mistake. I've repeated the move to the correct title on the other-language Wikipedias which have an article. Xn4 (talk) 06:27, 3 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

High Sheriffs[edit]

I see you've been doing a bit of work on High Sheriff of Wiltshire recently. If you take a look at High Sheriff of Cheshire you'll see I've managed to find definitive refs for sheriffs' appointements back to about 1840, usually all sheriffs are appointed at the same time, so this may help you out. Objection to being blocked indefinitely[edit]

I find I've been blocked indefinitely because of Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Xn4/Archive, but I can't edit that page to leave a comment on it or even edit any page except this one. Can someone tell me what to do? Clearly I'm on the same local network as Xn4 and/or Strawless, but no-one has complained about any of my edits and having an IT connection with other users isn't an offense. Dzw49 (talk) 20:59, 1 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I suppose I can simply start another account, but then I will not be credited with my contributions. Dzw49 (talk) 21:15, 1 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Unblock declined. I was somewhat surprised and asked a second opinion from checkuser Lucasbfr yesterday. The results came back confirmed. At one point, two of the blocked users used the very same computer within 10 minutes of each other, and that, combined with the behavioural evidence, makes this a clear case in technical terms. PeterSymonds (talk) 21:30, 1 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for showing up. Do these two blocked users include me? Dzw49 (talk) 21:35, 1 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
He didn't specify which users were which, but he was very diligent and carried out independent checks on all the accounts involved. He couldn't divulge any technical details - doing so would be a violation of the checkuser policy - but he was that he was convinced that all of the involved accounts were the same person. This was indicated by his edit to the archive page you link above. Best, PeterSymonds (talk) 21:41, 1 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I was just looking at User talk:Umar Zulfikar Khan. He says he's related to Xn4 and has used the same computer. It seems to me there's a lot of jumping to conclusions here. Dzw49 (talk) 21:44, 1 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
