Glad to see from your web page that you're finally coming to an understanding of the difference between prevalence and incidence. It's a very basic epidemiologic concept, but can prove challenging to those not in the field. You might want to next consider the problems of diagnostic, ascertainment, and recording biases as possible explanations for the prevalence differences worldwide, as well as for the large sex difference in Japan. Competing causes of mortality also play into the differences. These are more challenging concepts, though. --Dan 18:17, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
