Review User:Fractalfalcon/Researchers.One[edit]

Hi @Eagleash

Thanks for reviewing my draft of User:Fractalfalcon/Researchers.One and for your feedback. I have resubmitted a version which I hope has made the necessary changes. If you have time to have a look that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks! --Fractalfalcon (talk) 18:51, 2 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

International years[edit]

Correct; unless a player has announced a retirement or the national team coach said they're never going to play again etc., we leave the years open - although if it has been a long time (say 5 years or more) common sense says closing is OK. GiantSnowman 09:30, 15 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Smkgronh: Thsnk you for your message; what assistance do you require? Unfortunately, if multiple, independent, reliable sources are not available, then the topic cannot be considered worthy of a Wikipedia article. Eagleash (talk) 01:06, 24 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

DRAFT ABANINDRA MAITRA[edit]

Mr Eagleash, Dear Sir, Thank you for reviewing the draft Abanindra Maitra. I wanted to save the edit but i have clicked on Publish changes by mistake. You have declined, kindly let me know what i have to do to improve and make it a Wikipedia article. Thanking you. Nilima Sen 2.2.2021. (````) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nilima sen (talkcontribs) 08:03, 2 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Nilima sen: Thank you for your message. Please note new topics should be added at the end of of talk pages. The article as submitted is not acceptable to Wikipedia. Links have been provided at the 'draft' to assist you. Please study them carefully, together with the links previously privided at your talk page. Particularly important are the guide to article creation, the general notability guidelines, the music-related notability guidelines, the manual of style and the guide to correctly adding references. A useful guide to article creation can also be found here. As it stands the draft is a 'wall of text' which does not make for particularly easy reading. Please seek out articles on similar topics and look at how they are laid out and structured as there are many layout and formatting anomalies. The most important aspect is whether the various notability guidelines can be passed. Please be aware that if the draft is resubmitted without improvement it may be rejected (rather than declined for improvement) and *could* even be proposed for deletion. (Please remember to sign your posts on talk pages by typing four keyboard tildes like this: ~~~~. Or, you can use the [ reply ] button, which automatically signs posts.) Thank you. Weird AFCH edit conflict?[edit]

See here, it looks like AFCH overrode my review when you did yours. I guess we started reviewing it at the same time, although I'm still surprised it didn't error out. (CC Enterprisey in case this isn't a known issue? /shrug) Perryprog (talk) 01:34, 3 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Perryprog: This seems to happen quite frequently, without producing a 'conflict' error msg. Eagleash (talk) 01:38, 3 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Huh, good to know—I always thought that edit conflict detection happened on the API level, but it seems that's not the case. Perryprog (talk) 01:42, 3 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Perryprog: I know nothing about bots! I quite often get a standard 'EC' message when typing a reply at the help desk for example. But this (AFC) seems to operate differently and often one edit overrides another without producing an error message. Some other editors refer to it as an 'edit clash' rather than conflict. Eagleash (talk) 02:22, 3 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I am absolutely stealing "edit clash". All I meant by the above message is that edit conflicts aren't something that are automatically detected—whatever software is doing the edit for you must check instead. Perryprog (talk) 02:26, 3 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Perryprog: I'm sure you are correct; I am not in the slightest technical though. Another annoying anomaly is moving a draft out of a sandbox (this can also produce a clash) which leaves a redirect. The sandbox owner then comes along removes the redirect and starts another article – which sometime later I start getting XFD or G13 messages about or 'deleted' in 'articles created'. I notice some editors move 'without leaving a redirect'; do not know what's required to do that. Eagleash (talk) 10:46, 3 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Looking For You Help[edit]

Hello Eagleash!

You recently were apart of the editing process for Draft:Trevor Ohlsen.

I am hoping you can continue to help the page move forward.

I've made some suggestions for the page at Draft talk:Trevor Ohlsen

I would very much appreciate your help.

Miles Miles8926 (talk) 18:07, 17 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Miles8926: Thank you for your message. I note that another editor has reviewed the draft and has also declined it on notability grounds. I'm sfraid I can only really suggest that you have a reveiw of the music-related notability guidelines at WP:NMUSIC and add any information (with sources) which demonstrates that Ohlsen can pass the guidlines. I note there are also issues with images. Copyright typically lies with the photographer and Wikipedia is pretty strict about this. Permission needs to be obtained from the holder of the copyright to use the images (which are then pretty much available for use by whoever – subject to attribution). Im afraid I have very little knowledge of this aspect (I've only ever uploaded my own images) but if there is insufficient information at WP:FUW you could ask at the help desk or at the commons help desk for assistance. (Or at the teahouse). Good luck. Eagleash (talk) 23:12, 17 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

St Peter's and St Paul's, Forncett - Buckland1072[edit]

St Peter's Church, Forncett (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Dear Eagleash, thanks so much for reviewing my draft article so quickly - it was a lovely surprise. I was a bit puzzled that you'd changed the article's title? Also most external links from within the text were removed -is that something that is discouraged unless it's a reference? It's my first article so I still have alot to learn about style etc and any hints would be appreciated. All good wishes Buckland1072 (talk) 19:08, 23 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Buckland1072: You're welcome; if I remember correctly the item was in userspace I.e a sandbox or similar; these *can* get reviewed quickly as they show up first at WP:AFC. Not much point in moving to draftspace if it can be accepted. The title is a bit of a grey area but there are probably dozens of churches named Peter & Paul (I know of at least 3) so the location is necessary for disambiguation purposes. It could be just Peter with the disamb but I went for the long name – for no discernible reason! If you think it necessary, could create a redirect from St. Peter's Forncett to the article or, as the title (pagename) contains dodgy punctuation (should be straight apostrophes) and will need to be moved at some future date, could move to St. Peter's Forncett. If you know the area (I don't) perhaps that would be better as the commonname?
Yes external links are not permitted in the content and should be converted to Wikilinks or references where appropriate / applicable or placed in an EL section after the references if they can add something to the page. A citation for Grade I listing would be good; that largely confirms notability per WP:NBUILDING. Cheers. Eagleash (talk) 19:36, 23 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Eagleash: Thanks for your reply of 23 March, very helpful. I've added the citations you suggested, and corrected the external links in the article to citations where relevant. I've also changed the curly apostrophes to straight ones. After checking with the Chair of the Friends group, I would like to move the article to the title St Peter's Church, Forncett. The reasons are: all the external links refer to the church as St Peter's so it would be consistent with them; most of the other church articles in Wikipedia include the word Church, then the location so it would be consistent with that too. Would you be able to make the move for me please - or should I request the technical section of requested moves? I've looked at the instructions but don't feel confident yet. Many thanks for your help Buckland1072 (talk) 18:19, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Buckland1072:  Done. Page moved and double redirects fixed. The bot got one of them at the same time as me – but 'these small things'; usually takes ages before it wakes up... Just shout if you need any thing else. Eagleash (talk) 20:32, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Concern regarding Draft:Dibro[edit]

Information icon Hello, Eagleash. This is a bot-delivered message letting you know that Draft:Dibro, a page you created, has not been edited in at least 5 months. Draft space is not an indefinite storage location for content that is not appropriate for article space.

If your submission is not edited soon, it could be nominated for deletion under CSD G13. If you would like to attempt to save it, you will need to improve it. You may request userfication of the content if it meets requirements.

If the deletion has already occured, instructions on how you may be able to retrieve it are available here.

Ball Relay[edit]

Could you make some edits in Ball Relay? Gardner Eli (talk) 22:31, 8 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Gardner Eli: Hello, and thank you for leaving me a message. I have looked at the page but I'm afraid I do not think there is anything I can add to it. It is not a topic I know anything about. I would suggest that the misplaced references be moved to the points in the text which they are intended to support. Also that more sources where the game is discussed in detail be added to the draft. The description of the game is not very clear. Some of the grammar and sentence structure suggests a 'machine translation' which is not ideal. It may be an idea to seek out articles on other similar or less well-known activities/sports and review how they are laid out and structured. Happy editing. Page mover granted[edit]

Hello, Eagleash. Your account has been granted the "extendedmover" user right, either following a request for it or demonstrating familiarity with working with article names and moving pages. You are now able to rename pages without leaving behind a redirect, move subpages when moving the parent page(s), and move category pages.

Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Page mover for more information on this user right, especially the criteria for moving pages without leaving redirect. Please remember to follow post-move cleanup procedures and make link corrections where necessary, including broken double-redirects when suppressredirect is used. This can be done using Special:WhatLinksHere. It is also very important that no one else be allowed to access your account, so you should consider taking a few moments to secure your password. As with all user rights, be aware that if abused, or used in controversial ways without consensus, your page mover status can be revoked.

Useful links:

If you do not want the page mover right anymore, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Thank you, and happy editing! ♠PMC(talk) 00:19, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Joseph or Josef?[edit]

Hello, regarding your article on Austrian law professor Joseph Marko. Half the sources name him with ph another with f. In original German it is with f. Would you be fine if I changed the article to Josef Marko? In any case I will just mention the other name after your input. --Тежава (talk) 07:04, 20 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Тежава: Hello, it's not an article I created but I see I did some CE-ing on it a few years ago. As far as I can see (from a cursory look) most sources say 'Joseph' and we should go by the WP:COMMONNAME (in English). However, I think it would be fine to insert something in the lead along the lines of 'shown in some sources as Josef'. Eagleash (talk) 07:13, 20 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Shaykh furgan: Thank you for your message; I note that other editors have worked on the item and tried to make it resemble a Wikipedia article. Also, that despite advice, the page has been re-submitted and has now been 'rejected'; any further submissions without significant improvement may result in deletion altogether and prevention of re-creation. Please be aware that Wikipedia reports on what has been written about a subject in multiple independent, reliable sources and that statements within an article need to be inline referenced in accordance with the guidelines at WP:REFB. Subjects also need to pass the notability guidelines. It would also be a good idea to study the links provided in respect of the guide to article creation and the manual of style as well as other links provided at your talk page. A further useful guide to article creation can be found at User:Ian.thomson/Howto.
Please also note that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and not a site where persons (or their associates) can create a profile about themselves in the manner of social media. It is also vitally important that you read WP:COI and WP:PAID and make the necessary declarations. Failure to do so will probably result in your account being blocked. Mrs Hinch page - you tagged for speedy deletion[edit]

Could you explain what aspect of the Mrs Hinch page you perceive as "clearly promotional"? To me it simply reads as a summary of the available facts, and I've meticulously referenced everything listed on the page. I found a draft and made it live, adding to it, because I looked for information about her on Wikipedia and was shocked that such a major figure had no article. The idea that I'm somehow interested in promoting her is quite bizarre to me because the whole thing arose simply because I knew nothing about her and was surprised I could find no information on Wikipedia.

To be honest I think this reeks of the elitist attitude of many Wikipedia editors and their belief that some subjects are inherently more valid than others. You seek to think a page about a social media influencer is too low brow to merit inclusion on Wikipedia, despite her being a major public figure and author of bestselling books. I'm not sure why you think this is less valid than the subject of rich people driving cars very fast, which you state you have an interest in. Suttonpubcrawl (talk) 13:04, 14 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Suttonpubcrawl: Please address your comments to the editor who requested the speedy deletion. You will find this in the page history. Thank you. Eagleash (talk) 13:11, 14 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Eagleash. I have recently created a new article page on Earley Women's Institute and have just seen the edits made to it. I was wondering if you had any further advice about how to not make it seem like I have a close connection to the page. The only connection that I have is where I have mentioned the 1951 banner, as it is an artefact I have been working with recently. I am a researcher for the museum mentioned and that's the only connection. All names, places, and dates mentioned in the article have no significance or meaning to me personally and any information has come directly from the sources I have referenced. I have been trying to go through the page and understand what needs editing to make it better by referring to the guidelines that you directed me to however, I am still struggling to edit the page. Any further advice would be appreciated. Many Thanks User:CarlyEyre

@CarlyEyre: Hello, and thnk you for your message. Please note new threads go at the end of talk pages.

The COI seems to be a pretty minor issue and I have removed the tag from the page. As long as your edits are neutral and sourced then there should not be an issue. However, if at some later stage you feel it best to declare an interest, you can place {{UserboxCOI|Earley Women's Institute}} on your userpage. That is sufficient! I would suggest not putting 'ewi' at the start of edit summaries as this could imply a COI. The question of why it was dissolved still needs to be clarified and the 'purpose' in the infobox is rather too long. I may try to re-word a couple of sections at some stage, myself. Request on 22:33:53, 21 July 2021 for assistance on AfC submission by Protogon[edit]

Hey there, thanks for pointing me in the right direction on the redirect. I managed to end up here while looking for help on creating redirects now that page creation is gated by the wizard, and using that page basically just took me back to the new article wizard. That said, I'm not sure who to ask about deleting or fixing that page. The new article wizard probably ought to have a direct link to the redirect wizard; I think it's a little buried if you don't expressly know that there's a redirect wizard. Hopefully this is useful feedback, but please let me know if there's a better place for it. Thanks again.

Protogon (talk) 22:33, 21 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Protogon: Thsnk you for your message. I'm not sure I know how you ended up in not quite the right place. Clicking the link in the decline notice at your talk page takes you to this page, where, after clicking the blue button, lower down the page, there is a 'reasonably simple' pre-formatted form to request a redirect. Question about Patricia Jean Cooper Entry[edit]

Hello Eagleash,

I was wondering what I have overlooked in my entry. I put in third party references. What is needed from me?

Thank you, Willa— Preceding unsigned comment added by WillaBlythe (talkcontribs) 3 August 2021 19:15 (UTC)

@WillaBlythe: Hello, and thank you for leaving me a message. I note that the draft has been improved somewhat since it was reviewed and I have cleaned it up a bit, more inline with Wikipedia's conventions and manual of style and added some 'Wikilinks' instead of linking to other articles as external links. I have also fixed the 'bare urls' where I could; references added in that manner are subject to link rot and sources should be formatted using templates found at WP:CITET. Unfortunately IMDb and Wikipedia itself cannot be used as references (see WP:UGC for more information); I have converted to Wikilinks where I could. There isn't a lot you need to do now, the page has been submitted for review and it should only take a few days as there's been a recent purge of outstanding submissions. Having worked on the item and reviewed it previously I will not review it again but another AFC participant will do so. I think it has some chance of being accepted but it could do with a bit more on her academic career (referenced) perhaps... the appropriate guidelines are at WP:NPROF or WP:NACADEMIC.(Please remember to sign your posts on talk pages by typing four keyboard tildes like this: ~~~~. Or, you can use the [ reply ] button, which automatically signs posts.) Good luck. Eagleash (talk) 20:59, 3 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Draft:Sandbox[edit]

While the Draft Sandbox is not the Wikipedia Sandbox page, it is a valid sandbox page, specifically the sandbox page for the draft namespace. It has existed in one form or another for many years, and is periodically maintained by bots. See the history of the page for examples; eg. https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Draft:Sandbox&oldid=655637116 and, earlier today, https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Draft:Sandbox&diff=1039037395&oldid=1039032831&diffmode=source -- The Anome (talk) 14:17, 16 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@The Anome: Ah right, got you; an anon. editor had placed about half a dozen submit templates on it (disruptive) so it looked very much like a prospective article titled 'sandbox'. Cheers. Eagleash (talk) 15:14, 16 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

New Page Patrol newsletter September 2021[edit]

New Page Review queue September 2021

Hello Eagleash,

Please join this discussion - there is increase in the abuse of Wikipedia and its processes by POV pushers, Paid Editors, and by holders of various user rights including Autopatrolled. Even our review systems themselves at AfC and NPR have been infiltrated. The good news is that detection is improving, but the downside is that it creates the need for a huge clean up - which of course adds to backlogs.

Copyright violations are also a serious issue. Most non-regular contributors do not understand why, and most of our Reviewers are not experts on copyright law - and can't be expected to be, but there is excellent, easy-to-follow advice on COPYVIO detection here.

At the time of the last newsletter (#25, December 2020) the backlog was only just over 2,000 articles. New Page Review is an official system. It's the only firewall against the inclusion of new, improper pages.

There are currently 706 New Page Reviewers plus a further 1,080 admins, but as much as nearly 90% of the patrolling is still being done by around only the 20 or so most regular patrollers.

If you are no longer very active on Wikipedia or you no longer wish to be part of the New Page Reviewer user group, please consider asking any admin to remove you from the list. This will enable NPP to have a better overview of its performance and what improvements need to be made to the process or its software.

Various awards are due to be allocated by the end of the year and barnstars are overdue. If you would like to manage this, please let us know. Indeed, if you are interested in coordinating NPR, it does not involve much time and the tasks are described here.

Hi, I am just a little confused over why after my article was approved for main space that it was sent back to draft space. I know a few months ago I didn't understand how the main space submission worked and I went through and corrected what was wrong after speaking with someone on here, at least I thought I corrected it, and resubmitted it to go through the correct channels of approval. I believe that I had done everything correctly. I don't understand what I did wrong. Please let me know. I have been trying to get this article up for months and I am still new to this. Thank you Richard — Preceding unsigned comment added by Richardbaker47 (talkcontribs) 20 September 2021 02:21 (UTC)

@Richardbaker47: Hello, and thank yopu for your message; The reason for the return to draft was clarified in the edit summary. The item was declined on 24 July and after 2 edits which removed references was re-submitted a few days later. It was then moved, out of process, by a relatively new editor who is not an AFC participant and could possibly be a 'sock' and has had seemingly no other involvement with the article. The item has therefore not completed the review process and has been returned to draft to do so.
FWIW, if you have not already done so, please review the music related guidelines; notability cannot be supported by MusicBrainz, Facebook, Discogs.com, Spotify, IMDb, Amazon, blogs or his own self-published PR and AllMusic only counts as support for notability if the site publishes a review of by one of its professional staff, and not purely WP:ROUTINE track listings. Good luck. Eagleash (talk) 09:22, 20 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Totals & youth[edit]

Totals should only be added when a career has ended, and if playing stats are incomplete I usually add a '+' next to it to indicate it is incomplete.

As for youth, do not include schools etc., only clubs. GiantSnowman 12:04, 24 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion discussion for Draft:Turna (musician)[edit]

I procedurally closed the AfD and renominated the article at MfD since the article is still in draft space so should be discussed at MfD rather than AfD. Qwaiiplayer (talk) 12:19, 24 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Qwaiiplayer: Thanks for your message. I know MfD applies in the case of drafts and wanted to remove the AfD but not sure of the correct procedure there... Something isn't right here though, as the item appears in those in article space at CAT:AFC; see Category:Pending AfC submissions in article space. I've spent a lot of the last hour or so trying to find where it's gone wrong but all I can come up with is I must have made an error when I moved it to draft but have not spotted it yet. Cheers. Eagleash (talk) 12:52, 24 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, it seems to appear in both draft and article at AfC. Eagleash (talk) 13:10, 24 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
That's really weird. We've got a Schrödinger's article on our hands. Qwaiiplayer (talk) 13:22, 24 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Eagleash: Aaaand, it's back in mainspace now. Not sure how to deal with this. Might need to put up a noticeboard incident or something. Another editor tagged the page for speedy deletion so I'll see how that goes first before taking any actions. Qwaiiplayer (talk) 16:21, 24 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Qwaiiplayer: Was it ever out of mainspace? That's how I got in a muddle earlier today! Or is it now in main without the 'draft' prefix? I've been out of Wiki-circulation for a few hours so might have missed 'all the fun'. I'm tempted to say "open the box" — "take the money" but I suspect I might be the only one who remembers that and outside UK no-one will have a clue. We need an understandig Admin. who can delete one or the other and then there's just one to sort out. Eagleash (talk) 18:14, 24 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Eagleash: When I saw it in AfD, it definitely seemed to be in draft space, or at least there was a prompt on the AfD notice for the page to move it to MfD since it was "out of main space." Oh well, it's moot point now since it did end up getting speedy deleted in the end. Qwaiiplayer (talk) 19:20, 24 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It was a bit confusing; the item I originally AfD'd came from the 'article space' categroy at AfC. It looks as though the creator moved it back to main after I moved it yesterday but included the word 'draft' (and the colon) as part of the article title; this acted as a red herring and wrong-footed us both into thinking it was a draft. How it ended up as both an article called 'draft' etc and an actual draft is still a bit of a mystery though. However, as you say, it's all 'blood under the lamppost' now. And thank goodness for that. Cheers. Eagleash (talk) 21:34, 24 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on TheMediaStalker requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about something invented/coined/discovered by the article's creator or someone they know personally, and it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. @Tajwar.thesuperman: Hello and thqank you for the messages; however, I am not the correct recipient here. I created the talk page by declining a sandxox item (which is still in existence at User:TheMediaStalker/sandbox). Not sure why I have received 2 messages from you (I have merged the sections) and I am not clear whether there are 2 misplaced items involved but I've found it's sometimes worth a quick check of the page history to ensure you're notifying the correct editor. Draft:Fiona MacDonald (fundraiser) (edit | [[Talk:Draft:Fiona MacDonald (fundraiser)|talk]] | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Dear Mr Eagle (Eagleash), MacDonald is notable for being the founder and CEO of two military charities ~ Bravehound and Glen Art ~ which have helped hundreds of veterans and has raised millions of pounds for said veterans. MacDonald has also brought together many notable people in order to help these people. My very reliable sources are ~ I really don't see how I can make them any better ~ BBC, Telegraph, Scotsman, Confederation of Service Charities, Prime Minister's Office of the United Kingdom, Big Issue, Animal Hero Awards, Jewish News and the National Lottery Good Causes Indigojones666 (talk) 18:26, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Indigojones666: Thank you for your message. Please note, new posts go at the end of talkn pages and please provide a link to drafts or articles you wish to discuss. This was the version I moved to draftspace, it had no sourcing, consisted of just one line and it was not clear whether this person is a potter or a fundraiser. As explained at your talk page biographical articles about living persons cannot be accepted without proper sourcing. There seem to have been developments in the intervening 3 weeks but I have not had involvement with the draft in the meantime. At least two experienced AfC reviewers seem to have declined the article and sources nay have been added subsequent to their declines, I do not know, but I am not going to override their opinions. You can approach them for assitance via their talk page or there is the AfC help desk, where you can also seek assistance. Thank you. Eagleash (talk) 19:58, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Indigojones666: As I say, I have had no involvement with the page other than moving an article consisting of one line without sources from mainspace where it clearly could not be allowed to remain. Please take up any grievances you may have with the reviewers involved. @Zgz.or: Thank you for your message; however, I regret that I do not think I can be of assistance here. I am more or less in agreement with other new page patrollers here but I will not comment at the AfD, having worked on the page a little. When the item appeared in the review list I considered nominating it for deletion myself as I did not think the subject notable. He may have worked on several films but not necessarily in a notable capacity and as noted at the AfD, it may be toosoon in his career. Please study the links to notability guidelines provided at the AfD and if you feel the subject can pass the criteria then make your case at the discussion. As a cautionary note, please be careful not to canvass other editors; this may be counter-productive in the long run. Good luck. Eagleash (talk) 12:20, 5 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Zgz.or: I don't believe it would be correct procedure to move it to draft at this point as the AfD takes precedence. However, I will comment at the AfD to that effect noting this discussion. If it is moved to draft do not restore to mainspace and it should not be submitted for review unless it is absolutely certain that it is ready for mainspace. Thank you. @Robert McClenon Respected Dear Sir, Most importantly, you should seriously check the account of the editor who intentionally removed the page from the draft. Moving Draft[edit]

Hi Eagleash , How are you doing?.I need your help in my work as I am a new Editor, if you can guide me regarding moving draft in Article space as I moved my draft to Article space. I edited all suggested things but it was again moved to draft space , please if you guide me on this. Shrlyn005 (talk) 08:48, 6 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Shrlyn005: Thank you for your message. It seems that the item has now been rejected. I note I initially declined the submission but it was moved to mainspace despite this and was subsequentlty moved back to draft. When an item is returned to draft it is so that it can be developed (I.e. declined for improvement) and then it should be re-submitted. Moving it back to mainspace if you are not an accredited AFC reviewer is 'out of process' and will almost always result in a return to draft or even a proposed deletion. I note some sources have been added since my decline; I have not reviewed these but I would trust the judgement of my colleagues on the review 'panel'. Some of the most experienced AFC participants have looked at the article and considered it not ready. Sorry, I cannot be of very much assistance in this instance. Eagleash (talk) 21:06, 6 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, no sorry that source is inaccurate, at least in the Wikipedia spectrum, you can see the unpiped link is Ireland national football team (1882–1950), that is the predecessor of Northern Ireland, and all players who played for them until 1950 should be linked to that team. In fact the Free State/FAI team (i.e Republic of Ireland national football team) didn't start playing until 1924 so technically there was still only one Ireland team during McCracken's cap spell and the IFA suffix isn't necessary, but my opinion would be to leave it in for clarity as it was so close to the split, up to you if you want to remove it tho. But technically there should be no pre-1950s links to the Northern Ireland team specifically. Crowsus (talk) 11:10, 9 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Should point out that it's therefore a slightly more prestigious honour as he was picked for the whole island, not just the northern bit. Crowsus (talk) 11:12, 9 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough, please see swapped refs. Crowsus (talk) 12:28, 9 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Just trying to make a user sandbox page[edit]

I was just hoping to make a sandbox page to test out wikitext. I realize that I can use https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Sandbox, but I wanted to make my own private saved page. I just clicked on the Sandbox button and it brought me to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Doogawa2/sandbox. I submitted something but it got rejected once because it didn't contain any text and then another time because it "seems to be a test edit and not an article worthy of an encyclopedia". I later learned that {{User sandbox}} had to be on the top of the page and that I might have somehow removed it, so I put it there and then tried once more but it still got rejected. Am I understanding this wrong and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Sandbox is the only place to test things out, or what? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Doogawa2 (talkcontribs) 16 November 2021 04:33 (UTC)

@Doogawa: As stated in the decline notice, you can use the sandbox for 'testing' but do not submit it for review unless it is a mainspace-ready draft article. help for Bee Ghanoon (movie)[edit]

Hello, thank you for your information, I always delete this box, this is not a problem, but I adhere to the rules, in any case, I follow the rules and I apologize to you if something goes wrong. Also, thank you for telling me about the problems of the film (illegal) so that I can solve them, because I think this film is very important, and I am a journalist in the field of art, and I have enough information about films،thank you. --Iranianbio (talk) 13:14, 20 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Iranianbio: Thank you for your message; one of Wikipedia's most important rules is that new articles have to be approved (by one means or another) by the community. Hence the need to submit for review. It is not a good idea for articles which have been declined, or where suggestions made for improvement, to be moved to mainspace without dealing with the issues raised. This is often regarded as disruptive. A 'second chance' has been given in respect of more than one item which has been 'move-warred' — it is often the case that items which have been moved in this way are proposed for deletion. Information you personally know about films has no import on Wikipedia which relies upon sourcing to establish notability of items. You are most welcome to continue to draft and submit items for review but if they are declined and issues raised do not just move them anyway. This will not be productive in the long run and makes extra work for other volunteers. Thank you. Eagleash (talk) 13:42, 20 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Again?[edit]

Oh please now you want to put draft:penny O'Brien into deletion again? I mean i got admit it last year i knew nothing about sources and pages and rule of Wikipedia so made a mess of an article with really weak source but not this year? I got a lot other sources and found new also for the article, it's not weak as last year is it? Mac O'Donnell (talk) 01:32, 26 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Mac O'Donnell: No one has nominated the item for deletion but it could happen. As I recall, the previous draft / item was deleted after having been declined multiple times as not notable and then moved to mainspace against procedure (and advice). As is standard practice, it was then sent to AfD for the wider community to decide whether to keep it (which they clearly did not). As the draft currently stands, there does not seem to have been much added to her 'portfolio' in the intevening period and therefore not much in additional WP:SIGCOV. Would also mention the comments added by Rocknrollmancer at User talk:Eagleash/Archive 2020#Speedy deletion.
It is fairly conventional if an article about a topic has once been deleted for this to be considered or noted. If, as you indicate, you are using a new / different account then please see WP:ALTACCN as this ought to be declared. Also, if you have any connection to O'Brien you must review WP:COI and WP:PAID and make any necessary declarations. Eagleash (talk) 16:28, 26 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Request on 13:37:30, 9 December 2021 for assistance on AfC submission by AnuragHitech[edit]

Kindly guide in which way I should create the wiki page of the person Mr Anurag Chirimar. I have references for the person getting mentioned in different activities. How should I use those references so that the article gets published.

AnuragHitech (talk) 13:37, 9 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@AnuragHitech: Thank you for your message. There is not a great deal I can add to the links left by reviewers at the draft and the comments made at the teahouse. I would also ask you to study carefully, the links provided in the welcome message at your talk page. The draft you have created does not meet the notability guidelines and the sole reference provided is not really about the person under discussion. There also seems to be a duplicate item at Draft:Anurag Chirimar which has seemingly previously been speedily deleted per the deletion notice at your talk page. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia biut persons frequently mistakenly assume that it can be used to create a 'profile' about themselves in the manner of a social media site. This is not acceptable and WP:AUTOBIO will tell you why as will WP:PROUD. Other links to be reviewed are WP:YFA and WP:MOS.
Some of the things you should not do are:
  • Create autobiographies
  • Remove decline notices
  • Create duplicate items for non-notable persons
  • Re-submit drafts after decline without noticeable improvement
If your draft is submitted again without a good deal of development it will almost certainly be 'rejected' (as against declined for improvement) and could also be deleted again. Continuing to edit in a non-constructive way could also result in the loss of editing privileges.
If the subject can be shown to be notable, Wikipedia wants an article about him but otherwise, as things stand, an attempt to create one will not succeed. Eagleash (talk) 15:12, 9 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Holland Tok:Thank you for your message. As the article and the subject's career stand, I am of the opinion that he does not currently warrant an encyclopedic entry. The Hindustan Times item contains actually not very much about him and is reliant for what there is, outside of routine stats, on an interview with his father, which may not be regarded as sufficiently independent. Of the three example articles you mention, two have played in an A-list fixture and one has played in an ODI; thus, as far as I know, satisfying the NCRICKET criteria. In any event, Wikipedia pays little, if any, heed to the argument that 'other articles exist' which may (or may not) be of sufficient standard. (See WP:OSE for more information). I would suggest at this stage, that the item be developed further in draftspace and perhaps more in-depth coverage can be found as his career and the upcoming tournament progress. I would not recommend re-submitting the item as it is, as it would quite possibly be declined again. However, I will not review the item again myself and other reviewers may have different opinions. I will not submit it for review, I believe you end up on decline decision after thinking abot wp guidelines. Holland Tok (talk) 10:15, 21 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Holiday greetings (2021)[edit]

Eagleash,
I sincerely hope your holiday season goes well this year especially with what we went through last year. I'm optimistic that 2022 will be a better year for all of us: both in real life and on Wikipedia. Wishing you the best from, Interstellarity (talk) 18:56, 21 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Interstellarity: Thank you! As I recall you posted here on 21 June (the Summer solstice) see above... somewhere; it's the same now except the weather is freezing as well as grey and dreary and the Covid cases still increase; but from now on the nights draw out. Season's greetings! Eagleash (talk) 21:05, 22 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
