Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and vote pages using three tildes, like this: ~~~. Four tildes (~~~~) produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome!--Pharos 23:23, 21 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. IrishGuy talk 22:25, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

This is your only warning; if you use Wikipedia for soapboxing, promotion or advertising again, as you did at Arnold Rothstein, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. CliffC (talk) 20:21, 3 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to add soapboxing, promotional or advertising material to Wikipedia, as you did at Arnold Rothstein, you may be blocked from editing. [1] [2] [3] / edg 03:56, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Continued promotional activity despite previous warnings;
You have been blocked temporarily from editing for advertising or self-promoting in violation of the conflict of interest policy and notability guidelines. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

{{unblock-auto|1=173.3.174.95|2=Autoblocked because your IP address was recently used by "Eastvillage". The reason given for Eastvillage's block is: "Using Wikipedia for spam or advertising purposes: continued b|3=Hu12|4=3232900}}

Request reason:

Is this a joke? We have been adding some of the only original content on these pages... how is listing (previously unpublished) addresses of where Arnold Rothstein lived, with a legitimate link to the source (a book), considered "disruptive"? I guess wiki readers would not be interested in information they can't find anywhere else - and just come for cut and paste journalism policed by disgruntled cut and paste editors.

Decline reason:

It looks to me like you're spamming a link to an Amazon page selling a book across multiple articles. You were asked to stop (above) and did not. Please read our information on advertising and why it is not permitted. TNXMan 15:30, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Original content

[edit]

Hey, just so you know, Wikipedia does not accept original content that cannot be found anywhere else—it's not something an encyclopedia does. See Wikipedia:No original research.

If you want to contribute new information to the worldwide web, you'll need to find another site, or publish your own. I you are interested in a wiki style collaborative site, there's Mafia Wiki. / edg 16:45, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Eric Ferrara requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you.
