Welcome!

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. The following links will help you begin editing on Wikipedia:

Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia

The Wikipedia tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome!

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of The Broken Kingdoms, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://nkjemisin.com/books/the-inheritance-trilogy/the-broken-kingdoms.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. The article The Kingdom of Gods has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

no 3rd party references that show notability of unpublished novel; fails WP:BOOK

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Tassedethe (talk) 15:40, 13 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your contributed article, List of Lorien Legacies characters

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I notice that you recently created a new page, List of Lorien Legacies characters. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page - I Am Number Four. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at I Am Number Four - you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think that the article you created should remain separate, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Jamiebijania (talk) 13:46, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please refrain from introducing inappropriate pages, such as The Seventh Son (2013 film), to Wikipedia. Doing so is not in accordance with our policies. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. [edit]

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Before saving your changes to an article, please provide an edit summary, which you forgot to do before saving your recent edit to Jeff Bridges. Doing so helps everyone understand the intention of your edit (and prevents legitimate edits from being mistaken for vandalism). It is also helpful to users reading the edit history of the page. Thank you. Cognate247 (talk) 18:39, 2 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I just found out this option so whoever comes, be forewarned you won't have to answer a question, but many.

Here goes:

  1. What are the meanings of the green and red (+somethings) and (-somethings) respectively that appear on my watchlist at most of my or someone else's edits? Is there any way to find out the total?
  2. My user:Eb00kie page is automatically updated, can I/should I edit it? What I mean is, can I edit it Facebook-style or it's entirely programmed and every edit I do will dissapear once something new comes up and the Wiki has to update it?
  3. I'm fluent in 3 languages but my Eb00kie account differs for each, is there any way to keep track of all the pages I've edited?
  4. I got a message at 23:17 and suddenly my User:Eb00kie page just dissapeared - the content - how did that happen?

Thank you.

  1. The green and red + and - figures on your watchlist are the change in size of the article produced by that edit.
  2. The messages on your user page, User:Eb00kie were a mistake - they should have been put here on your talk page. I have moved to here the message about List of Lorien Legacies characters, but just deleted the Welcome part as you already have that here; so your user page is now blank, and you can add to it. It is for you to do what you like with, within limits, and will not normally be edited by other people. It is mainly intended for you to say something about yourself, if you choose, to help communication within the project, but a certain amount of Facebookery is quite OK. Read WP:User pages for more detail of what's permitted and what's discouraged.
  3. See WP:SUL for a way to set up an account with the same username across all the Wikimedia projects. If you click "My contributions", at the bottom of that page is a link "Global contributions" which, if you have set up a SUL unified account, will show your contributions on all the projects. But generally, each project is separate.
Two more pieces of advice: If you want to know about something to do with the workings of Wikipedia, say for instance (imaginary) "Oogles", the first thing to try is typing "WP:Oogle" or "Help:Oogle" into the search box - very often that will lead to useful information. Also, on talk pages (but not in articles) it helps to know who wrote what when, so please sign your posts by ending them with four "tilde" characters ~~~~ which the system will turn into a "signature" with your username and the time and date, like this: JohnCD (talk) 20:33, 5 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Re your comment at Talk:World Dance Alliance

[edit]

There is no requirement for a 10 day wait before deleting articles that meet the criteria at WP:CSD (the 10 day period applies to some unreferenced biographies of living people). However, another option is to start a page in your user space and develop it over multiple days and edits without concerns of deletion. You can then move it to main space when it is ready. You also can request a copy of the deleted page be moved into a user subpage at WP:REFUND so you do not have to start over. Let me know if you have any questions! {{helpme}} Can I use a picture from a book for at the character description for character ID?

Is the image in the public domain (or under a suitable free copyright license?) Most images are copyrighted, and are assumed so unless you can affirmatively show otherwise. If not, then no, you probably cannot use it in this manner. We do allow fair use images in certain places for certain ues (fair use images can never be properly used on a user's subpage), if they meet the Non-free content criteria, but this would probably not qualify. Of course, we would need to see the specifics. Your question is in the abstract.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 11:03, 12 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Picture Help

[edit]

In a nutshell, how can one use a file from one language wiki, for example en.wiki, in another language wiki, for example ro.wiki, without uploading again?

There's a way of using a page from on language wiki on other language wiki without reuploading it. For example the Romanian equivalent of an "Infobox writer" can add the pic of Richelle Mead without it being previously uploaded, I only had to use the same name in the image area and it used the en.wiki picture of Richelle Mead. On the other hand the Ro eqivalent of "Infobox Book" doesn't. The [[File:Example format can also do this in ro.wiki, but only with pictures that have already been 'imported' - For example it can add Richelle Mead's pic, but it can't add that of the Vampire Academy (novel) cover.

Those files are not on another language wiki but Wikimedia Commons. Files uploaded to Commons are available on every project without uploading but need to satisfy Commons' strict upload guidelines (i.e. only free files). On the other hand File:Vampire Academy.jpg is uploaded here only because it's a non-free image - it cannot be uploaded on Commons. In order to upload it on another project, you need to satisfy the requirements of that project (which you have to check there). Regards SoWhy 19:46, 6 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Spoilers

[edit]

Please do not delete or flag potential "spoilers" in Wikipedia articles. It is generally expected that the subjects of Wikipedia articles will be covered in detail, and giving a section a title such as "Plot" or "Ending" is considered sufficient warning to the reader that the text will contain revelations about the narrative. Deleting such information makes the article less useful for a reader who is specifically trying to find out more about the subject. For more information, see Wikipedia's guidelines on spoilers. Thank you. Hipocrite (talk) 14:20, 16 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there! I notice that you have recently contributed articles on the House of Night series by P. C. Cast and Kristin Cast. Unfortunately, most of these articles do not appear to have references and in one case Chosen (A House of Night novel) appears to have been only partly translated from Romanian. Left in this state, there is a risk that these articles may be nominated for deletion as they do not meet the required standard. If you are planning to improve these articles, I suggest that you do so before creating any more like this. Also,in future, I strongly suggest that you create new articles in a sandbox or use the article creation wizard so that you can check that they meet Wikipedia's standards before you move them to mainspace. If you need help or have any questions about this comment, please post here and I will respond.--CharlieDelta (talk) 08:45, 9 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article Betrayed (novel) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No apparent notability; a page on WorldCat or a brief mention on Hollywoodreporter don't establish notability

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
