Edit warring

Please refrain from further edit warring on Škoda Auto as the article has now been unprotected. Violations of the three revert rule will result in a block for editing Wikipedia. Please discuss your issue on the talk page. Malinaccier (talk) 13:10, 9 December 2011 (UTC)

I have made one edit to the page, days ago, reverting unexplained removal of material and replacement of RS citations with one non-RS cite. Your suggestion that I have engaged in anything approaching edit warring is highly inappropriate, and you should apologize. Ebikeguy (talk) 15:43, 9 December 2011 (UTC)
I fully agree with Ebikeguy on this. You are warning two editors who tried to engage with a highly disruptive editor. --Biker Biker (talk) 15:45, 9 December 2011 (UTC)

Each of you should have attempted to discuss your editing dispute on the talk page of the article or with the user in a non-templated and non-confrontational fashion. It was actually recommended that I actually block Biker Biker for violating the three revert rule, but I refrained from doing so in the hope that all the involved parties would start a discussion on the talk page (which did not happen). Ebikeguy, I apologize for warning you about 3RR because (as you are correct) you only made one reversion to the page; however, please try to discuss your problems with the user's edits (which were not vandalistic) rather than adding to the reversions. Malinaccier (talk) 17:51, 9 December 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for your apology and your comments/advice. It is frequently a difficult judgment call as to whether one should revert or discuss. In this case, reverting seemed the proper course of action because one party was clearly editing outside of Wikipedia's rules and guidelines (not including 3RR violations, which were seen on both sides, as you mentioned). It could have been helpful if I left a note explaining my actions on the article's talk page. However, since the erring editor quickly made another edit which both supported his position and followed Wikipedia's rules, I thought it best to leave the matter alone. I was quite surprised to see the page protected immediately after that last edit. I had thought the matter had been worked out effectively and that all parties were happy with the results. Cheers, Ebikeguy (talk) 21:09, 9 December 2011 (UTC)

Roger F. Gay

In response to your post on my user talk page. Roger F. Gay is my real name. I've reviewed the rule section you mentioned and it does not appear that it violates any rule to use one's real name, although it is suggested that it may be safer not to. The promotional issues mentioned had to do with using false names that for example, are similar to company names or names of famous people for promotional purposes, including self-promotion though something akin to identity theft; which is certainly not the case here. I am not planning to change my name and am not interested in applying for a user name change on WP. BTW: If you are interested in improving the WP page on the Fathers Rights Movement, please consider my comments on the discussion page. Rogerfgay (talk) 22:47, 9 December 2011 (UTC)

Poor you

I seem to remember that sometime back you said that you were something of a father's rights supporter. So it seems particularly unfair that you should be on the receiving end of such casting of nasturtiums, first by Rich Zubaty and now by Roger Gay! But actually it is a sign that you deserve congratulations because it shows that, despite any personal opinions you may have, you are not afraid to stand up for the encyclopedia, first and foremost. I'm not one for giving out barnstars - partly laziness as I can't ever remember where to find them - so consider this in lieu! --Slp1 (talk) 02:49, 13 December 2011 (UTC)

Thanks! That means a lot, especially coming from someone who does not share my opinion on every issue. I appreciate your support, and I appreciate the hard work you put into making WP a better resource. Ebikeguy (talk) 02:53, 13 December 2011 (UTC)

Hey, nice work. I realized my edit was kinda half assed, but what was there previously was just so egregious I had to do something...Rebel1916 (talk) 20:00, 16 December 2011 (UTC)

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a search with the contents of Autoblog (automated blog), and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: Autoblog. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally trying to rename an article, please see Help:Moving a page for instructions on how to do this without copying and pasting. If you are trying to move or copy content from one article to a different one, please see Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia and be sure you have acknowledged the duplication of material in an edit summary to preserve attribution history.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. CorenSearchBot (talk) 20:16, 16 December 2011 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification

Hi. In Autoblog (automated blog), you recently added a link to the disambiguation page Aggregator (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 11:28, 17 December 2011 (UTC)

Hiya

The deed is done. If I've missed something important feel free to make your own statement there. See ya 'round Tiderolls 00:01, 14 December 2011 (UTC)

Thanks! I added my two cents. Cheers, Ebikeguy (talk) 00:07, 14 December 2011 (UTC)
I see no responses on the project page and the article is stable for the moment. I think my concerns have been answered. I'll see ya when the sequel is released, I guess. It never ceases to amaze me the subjects I get drawn in to simply watching recent changes. See ya 'round Tiderolls 05:56, 17 December 2011 (UTC)
That was a fun one! Thanks for the improvements you made to the article. See you when the sequel comes out! Ebikeguy (talk) 16:41, 17 December 2011 (UTC)

Hi Ebikeguy. Just wanted to say thanks for the help on the Classical Movements article. Best, Sparthorse (talk) 20:58, 20 December 2011 (UTC)

You are most welcome. As you said, it seems to be worth rescuing. Needs a lot more work though, and I am going to be very busy over the next few days. I hope we can convince folks not to delete it. Cheers, Ebikeguy (talk) 21:08, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
I'll see if I can dig up some more references and continue to chip away at the article. With the holidays coming up, it might take a while. Thanks again. Sparthorse (talk) 21:35, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
