Russian Rap[edit]

Hello there, I'm watching Russian hip hop article and I can see that you've done a lot of edits today, and there are even some references. Great job! Article seems to be much more informative now. However, I'm afraid it is actually not.

Let me explain. I'm Russian and I've been digging russain rap since 1999. Most of new statements seem very obsucre to me. For example, the Soviet government ban and "government presented the people with propaganda stating that African Americans were forced to participate in hip-hop music and dance by the American whites". That's just silly. AFAIR, African American culure was in favor with Soviet government of 1960-1980. It was presented as a proletarian ressistance to white capitalist America. And I guess that's natural if you recall how far-left Black Panthers or Public Enemy were!

However, I was too young during that time (I was born in 1982), so I'm not 100% sure. So my question is: What made you use the sources you have used? Do you 100% sure they are relable? It looks like at least some of these articles are written by people who never studied the subject themselves.

Are you a Russian who listens to rap and thus has insider view of the subject or are you just a foreign observer?

Anyway, there's a lot to do in terms of improving this article. Did you know that first russian rap songs were mid-80 works by rock musicans from Kino and Alisa bands, before there were any rap bands at all? Shouldn't the article mention massive success of Mal'chishnik in 1990 and 1991? Etc. Netrat_msk (talk) 22:00, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
