NAS / Institute of Medicine and Dr Makgoba[edit]

You're quite right, and indeed their member list does include Dr Makgoba. My apologies.

Incidentally, it's good to sign your posts on talk pages -- you can do that with -~~~~, and it will automatically include your username and date. It's also good to create a new topic for something specific (as I'm doing here) -- the button is in the dropdown next to the heart and the star at the top of the page. -Kieran (talk) 16:53, 3 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Disruptive edits[edit]

OK, I'm reasonably certain that this account has been created by UKZN Corporate Relations, as were Ukzn and corporaterelations. That alone is not allowed on Wikipedia, which is why the corporaterelations account was blocked. But the pattern of editing which you have engaged in is generally viewed as disruptive, which is the reason the Ukzn account was blocked. Please follow that link, and understand what is considered as disruptive editing -- your current behaviour on the page about Dr Makgoba is almost certainly disruptive.

UKZN is my alma mater, and I sympathise strongly with your desire to protect its image. But as an academic and as a Wikipedia contributor, my goal is aligned with Wikipedia's goal to be a neutral encyclopaedia. This means on the one hand that the pages about the university and Dr Makgoba should include verifiable information on controversies they have been involved in. On the other hand, it means that they should be balanced by broader factual information (e.g. Dr Makgoba's achievements). You have been tending to completely remove the former, and to pack in the latter in a format that is barely referenced and certainly does not comply with the manual of style. Please cease to do so.

Lastly, I strongly urge you to read the FAQ for organisations. It contains details on the policy on corporate accounts, the policy on editing the articles about your own organization, taking careful note of the conflict of interest guidelines. There are also some suggestions on how you can challenge unverified or attacking content within Wikipedia's policies.

Please, please read those policies. If you continue to act out of compliance with them, administrators will keep blocking your accounts, and people will keep reverting your edits. It is possible for you to fulfil the goals of Corporate Relations on Wikipedia, and I hope that you can come to be a valuable contributor of content, but you must comply with the policies. -Kieran (talk) 17:43, 3 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
