Welcome!

Hello, EdwardBennett, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome!

You might want to consider adding {{User NZ res}} to the top of your user page, which will add you to Category:Wikipedians in New Zealand automatically and also add a nice graphic. Or simply add [[Category:Wikipedians in New Zealand]] which will have the same effect.

Finally, thank you for your contributions on Auckland places. I removed the more blatent advertising on Karangahape Road as that's not what Wikipedia is for, but the web site KRoad.com seems a worthwhile addition. I'd like to take one of your tours of Karangahape Road sometime when I'm not quite so busy.-gadfium 06:40, 5 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Request for references

[edit]

Hi, and welcome! Thanks for all your contributions to the various Auckland articles - you clearly have a vast knowledge of Auckland's history, and it's great that Wikipedia is benefiting from it. I was wondering if you could please provide references as you contribute, if you know of any published sources for the information. One of Wikipedia's core policies is that our articles should be verifiable. -- Avenue 12:39, 16 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Auckland Savings Bank Building

[edit]

Nice to see you back contributing to Wikipedia. In the article on Edward Bartley, you give the date of the Auckland Savings Bank Building as 1881, but the specific article gives it as 1884. Could you please correct one or the other article, and preferably add a source. Thanks.-gadfium 23:05, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:Dec 015.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Dec 015.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 16:32, 29 March 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Strangerer (Talk) 16:32, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
