The article Gender Inequality in Nso' Community has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Arguably CSD but there's at least the chance that this is a real subject. Either way, this appears to be an essay copied out of userspace without a clear subject. If this is a subject worthy of an entry, WP:TNT and let's start over afresh.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. 49ersBelongInSanFrancisco (talk) 09:36, 24 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Moved article[edit]

Hi! I've had the article you created moved back to your userspace where you can work on it at your leisure. You can find it at User:Efreitas2/Gender Inequality in Nso' Community.

The article seems to be more about what you think should be added to the main article Nso people rather than an independent article, which is why it seems to have been nominated for deletion. Offhand these look like they would be very good additions to the main article, which is a bit on the scant side. I would recommend that you use the sandbox to expand on these ideas and add WP:RS, and then add them to the main article as a subsection. I can help you with this, so don't hesitate to reach out to me via my talkpage or my e-mail as needed. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 04:18, 28 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The article on Nso people is in terrible shape. It needs to be blown up and started over. Robert McClenon (talk) 01:29, 3 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Your edits to Nso people have been reverted. They were made in good faith, but they were completely contrary to the formal neutral tone of Wikipedia article space. Please do not edit in article space any more until you have been given a proper orientation as to how to edit Wikipedia. Sections in article space are not signed, because they are the work of the community. The contribution history is available. (Talk page posts are signed, but article space is not signed.) Articles are written in the formal neutral third person, never in the first person as the opinions of an editor. Do not put [edit source] in the corners of paragraphs; Wikipedia does that for you. If you want to propose changes to an article, please discuss them on the article talk page first. (Normally I would advise you to be bold and make the edits, but that advice assumes, at a minimum, that you know what is and is not appropriate in articles, and it appears that your instructor did not properly instruct you.) Sandbox submission[edit]

You submitted a sandbox draft for review. I have declined it for several reasons. First, it appears to be written in the first person. Wikipedia articles are never written in the first person. Second, it consists of multiple sections, each of which is signed by an editor. Wikipedia articles are not signed. Talk page contributions in Wikipedia are signed; articles are not, and are the work of the Wikipedia community. Third, and this is related to the other issues, it appears to include opinions. Wikipedia presents the opinions of reliable sources neutrally. Fourth, it has [edit source] at the corner of each paragraph. Do not put that in the text. Wikipedia does that for you. Please ask your instructor to get in touch with the education coordinator, who has already welcomed you on this page. It appears that you and your classmates need more guidance on how to use Wikipedia. Robert McClenon (talk) 00:56, 3 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Robert McClenon: I'm helping out with Adam's classes this semester, so I've been given charge of this class. I'm going to ping the teacher as well so she can be aware of the conversation. (@Drbgsu:)
Efreitas2, what you've written is a personal essay on your chosen topic, the Nso people in general and in specific, portions from this book. Wikipedia does not accept original research and all content must be written in the format of an encyclopedia article per Wikipedia's WP:MoS. The draft you created was not ready as it would not be considered an acceptable article on Wikipedia, which is why it had been proposed for deletion. I had moved it back to your article with the note that while it contained ideas that could be merged into the pre-existing article on the Nso people, it was not appropriate for Wikipedia. Wikipedia doesn't host original essays - you can post some content of this nature to Wikiversity, Wikipedia is meant for encyclopedia articles.
I note that you've cut/pasted this content to the Nso article itself, however the problem is that you did not change any of it to meet any of these issues. Please understand that articles must be written in encyclopedic format and it should not have any of the issues that Robert brought up above. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 21:42, 3 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • I would heavily recommend going over the basics section of the training modules. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 21:43, 3 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hi! I've been told that English is not your first language - would it be helpful if I found someone who spoke your native language to help discuss some of the more technical angles of Wikipedia? Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 22:38, 3 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Nso people article[edit]

Hi! Your teacher filled me in on what's going on, so I'm going to try to help you a little.

One of the first things we should do is look at what you would like to add to the article. Your teacher said that you were looking to add information from the book Men Own the Fields, Women Own the Crops. From what I can see on your sandbox, it looks like there was interest in writing about the following:

  1. Mentioning that the Nso people also practice Christianity alongside their traditions. You wrote that you think that this portion should be added to the article as well: "As a religion, the Nso people practice a traditional religion which is based upon the worship of ancestors and their spirits. There are special men that are designated as priests to perform this religious task. Some of these men are part of the secret society of "Ngwerong.""
  2. Include more information about the Ngwerong in their community.
  3. Include more information about the Nso people and agriculture, especially that women are vital to the people's agricultural success, causing them to be seen as the backbone of the community.

Does this fit into what you want to add to the article? It looks like the Ngwerong is covered to some extent in the government section of the article, but there is no mention of Christianity in the article, which can be added. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 02:08, 4 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
