Autoblocked at NYC Public Library

[edit]

((unblock-auto|1=65.88.88.214|2=rms125 sock|3=Mackensen))

To whom it may concern: I am using the Internet at the NY Public Library for the Performing Arts. I have never had this problem at other library branches. Thanks!El chulito 21:18, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reason(s):

Apparently good contributor being affected by collateral damage from an old checkuser block. WHOIS data supports your claim -- seems to be a New York library. I've unblocked the IP address, for now, and contacted Mackensen for further input. You should be able to edit, at this point. Sorry for the trouble!

Frente Amplio

[edit]

I noticed that you had changed the political party affiliation of Larriva to just the socialist party, but if Frente Amplio is only Uruguayan, why is it listed on the Spanish wiki as being from Ecuador? -Yupik 12:34, 25 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If you are going to move or change article titles

[edit]

1. Discuss it first and 2. do it properly via the "move" tab at the top.--Vintagekits 15:50, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Máire Nic an Bhaird

[edit]

Sorry for reverting you at Máire Nic an Bhaird; I meant to revert Vintagekits' edit; dunno how I missed your intervening change. That said, I have just changed your re-edit a wee bit... jnestorius(talk) 17:58, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Background

[edit]

Would you by any chance be of Puerto Rican and Guatemalan background?--Vintagekits 02:18, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Anglo-Irish War

[edit]

I have seen you revert this away from Irish War of Independence citing POV as the reason. Can you please explain this?--Vintagekits 03:43, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I didnt mention you calling me a fenian (which if I was in a more sensitive mood could have called that a personal attack!!). Anyway, Tan War and Anglo-Irish War are both redirects to the correct page which is Irish War of Independence, so how can that be, as you say, "emotive, manipulative and POV" - if anything that shows me that you possibly do not have an indepth knowledge on the subject, and add that to you calling the PIRA "terrorist's" and this shows you could have a potentially biased POV.--Vintagekits 04:28, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Listen, bud: If I have a "potentially biased POV", you have an indisputable one, and you have corrupted numerous pages related to Northern Ireland or Northern Irish people with your pro-IRA slant. Do you think I haven't noticed the term "Óglaich" in the Gaelic translations of Irish names or your use of the term "Volunteer" which was sent to mediation and as far as I know never concretely resolved (if I am wrong and the term is approved, please just send me a link) or your overwhelming use of pro-republican/pro-IRA sites and media as your sources for decidedly non-encyclopaedic phraseology?? I am going to let your redirect of Anglo-Irish War to the other term slide, but I will keep an eye out for NPOV and if necessary we will go to the Administrator's noticeboard.

As far as "Fenian", I don't think undue sensitivity will ever be a problem for you. El chulito 05:00, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"Bud", calling the IRA "terrorist" is POV, and if you cant see that then that is possibly the most worrying thing. 2. Volunteer is the correct term and is correctly used. If need any further information on the issue I suggest you read Military volunteer, Volunteer (Irish republican) and go also if you require further information (it should be noted that it is not proper wikiette to directly alter member to Volunteer and vice versa during mediation). and frinally back to 3. Tan War and Anglo-Irish War are both redirects to the correct page which is Irish War of Independence, so how can that be, as you say, "emotive, manipulative and POV"--Vintagekits 05:05, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I see you highlighted a number of mistake in that article. I think you will find that they are there because Astrotrain reverted it to yesterdays version. Astreotrain seems to just log on and revert my edits (probably without reading them) simply to annoy me. I will revert to the version immediately prior to Astrotrain, so you can have a look at it from that point. regards.--Vintagekits 03:47, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

17 December 1983 Harrods bombing

[edit]

Can you explain the revert on this page?--Vintagekits 06:06, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Have you seen my reply to your answer?--Vintagekits 15:12, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Volunteer

[edit]

If you do not self revert each time you removed Volunteer and replaced with member whislt mediation is still on going then I am going to report you.--Vintagekits 06:15, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thomas Begley

[edit]

You made a number of edits on this page, can you please explain them.

  1. You removed the reference to Volunteer, you know this is against mediation, why do you keep doing this?
  2. You deleted the line "Begley not only believed in Irish republicanism but pure republicanism and non sectarianism." Can you explain why?
  3. You added " He had little schooling and was referred to in published reports following his death as "illiterate"" - this is POV and weasel words - to start off, can you provide a source for this?
  4. The Glenbryn Estate reference - why did you delete this, it was clearly referenced on the BBC website and refered to Belgey directly.--Vintagekits 06:27, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In reply to your reply.

  1. You did not answer my first question, please do.
  2. Read the BBC article I posted, the Glenbryn Estate proster on that day was in relation to Begleys bomb - have you read the article? if not please read the article for further details.
  3. If you read in then is must be in a book somewhere, if you find it then we can discuss its insertion, until then I will remove it as agreed.
  4. Firstly the article did not state he was "fervently anti-sectarian" is state he believed in non sectarian republicanism - a. can you explain what you consider is POV about that and b. it is reference in Tirghrá within his biography.--Vintagekits 14:27, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Paddy Quinn (Irish republican)

[edit]

Again you have had a number of edits without discussion, can you please explain the following edits.

  1. You again removed the reference to Volunteer, you know this is against mediation, why do you keep doing this?
  2. You substituted Irish War of Independence with Anglo-Irish War when you have already been informed that Anglo-Irish War is a redirect to Irish War of Independence and the correct term is Irish War of Independence.
  3. You added the following "His mother, despite her aforementioned republicanism, described how awful it was to see her son suffering "epileptic fits". They helped to get him medical help to save his life, and some other families followed suit." Can you add a reference for that claim and clarify is with more detail.--Vintagekits 06:33, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • reply to your reply

you have not answereed the above questions. regards--Vintagekits 14:53, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

17 December 1983 Harrods bombing

[edit]

Your recently made a number of undiscussed changes to this page. Can you explain the following please.

  1. As the target of the attack you stated "Christmas shoppers at Harrods" - can you clarify this answer and the store and not the shoppers was the target and this is confirmed by the prior phoned warning to evacuate.
  2. You deleted the time of the explosion and replaced it with "Unfortunately they did not have time to defuse it" - a. why do you delete the time and b. "Unfortunately" may be correct but it is POV, why did you and it.
  3. You previously added the line "Three officers and three civilians (including one citizen of the United States) were killed." but then deleted from my last edit, can you please explain this.
  4. you removed the line "It stated that a bomb was placed the C&A deptartment store on the east side of Oxford Street, London." and replaced it with "They claimed a bomb had been placed in the heart of Oxford Street. It was said to be at the C&A store on the east side of the shopping street." the later sounds messy and POV can you explain the edit. regards

Diarmuid O'Neill

[edit]

You made the following edits on this page, can you please explain the follow -

  1. You deleted the English version of Diarmuid's name, why did you do this?
  2. As you know the expression member and Volunteer are currently under mediation. One of the conditions of the resolution of the mediation is that when describing the role in the IRA Volunteer should be capitalised and disambed to the Volunteer (Irish republican) page, can you explain why you deleted this?
  3. Diarmuid was shot is his bed, this detail is added within the references, why did you delete it?--Vintagekits 14:19, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

reply to your reply -

  1. Here is is the link for the english revsion of his name I would appriciate if you would alter the artice yourself as I do not want this to become an edit war.
  2. If you look at Shyam's current recommendations with regards the use of Volunteer in relation to articles about the various IRA's.
  3. I will also find a link for him getting shot in his bed.--Vintagekits 14:46, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Joseph MacManus - 28 January 2007

[edit]

You recently reverted my edit on the above page. Can you please explain the following edits that you made.

  1. Why did you change the position of the Joe to the centre of the phrase.
  2. Again the Volunteer issue - have you read the guide set out by Shyram? If not please read recommendation here
Note This is not the full explanation given by the mediator. Rather, read the full text here.
That is the latest recommendation that the mediator has given and he was also clearly told that he should not change Volunteer to member and vice versa. Please do not try to distort what I said and try and make out that I did something wrong here.--Vintagekits 22:31, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Please review the link you gave. It did not contain the proposals that Shyam initially set out, and which have not changed. Logoistic 22:41, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  1. You made the second M in MacManus a small m, that is not how his name is written, can you please explain why you did this?--Vintagekits 14:37, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Violating mediation

[edit]

Hello El chulito, your sock-puppet account had made some edits which are against the ongoing mediation. My intention is this, in the future (until closing the mediation), do not make any contrary edits to any articles related to the mediation process. Thanks for your co-operation, Shyam (T/C) 17:57, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi El chulito, I apologise for the problem caused by my indef-block to your another account. You may request for another name with the same user account, if you are really interested. Thanks for your co-operation to the mediation. There is no need to say "Sir". You may simply call "Shyam".

Happy editing, Shyam (T/C) 17:15, 31 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You are doing it again!!! STOP!--Vintagekits 20:39, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
DO you not think you should not edit it until they get back to you then and also regarding the message you just left me may I also remind you of WP:NPA and WP:CIVIL--Vintagekits 20:47, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I will remind you FOR THE LAST TIME of WP:NPA and WP:CIVIL, also can you show me one time where I have changed member for Volunteer! You have been told on numerous occasions about this issue.--Vintagekits 20:57, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You are continuing to make edits which are NOT in line with the result of the mediation! - if you do not understand the outcome I would suggest that you do not edit on those articles until you are fully aware.--Vintagekits 21:49, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

AFD noms for All-Ireland winners

[edit]

Winning the all-Ireland is one of the great achievement in Irish sport can you please read GAA to see the cultural importances of this organisation and Gaelic Games (Gnevin 16:15, 8 February 2007 (UTC))[reply]

Yet you delete players who played in the All Ireland final as NN also which doesnt make sense , you shouldnt nominate articles just because they are stubs (Gnevin 16:26, 8 February 2007 (UTC))[reply]

The articles aren't stubs; they are short because there is nothing sufficiently notable about the player(s) in question to warrant their own encyclopaedia articles (McGinley, Harte, Mellon, ...).El chulito 16:34, 8 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[1] 14,400 hits , BBC, RTE ,must be a whole lots of nothing (Gnevin)

I notice there's nothing about Mellon or Harte. If you want to improve McGinley's article go ahead. No one's stopping you.El chulito 16:41, 8 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
