A tag has been placed on File:Plaque honoring Medal of Honor recipient Willie Johnston.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Thanks. -- Willthacheerleader18 (talk) 00:03, 26 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

No, the paragraph that I removed was not at all sourced. If you watch the video that you reference and have a link to further down on that page, you can hear that in the video (starting at minute 2:24:34 and thru 3:33:06 ) President General Wright made her comments on this subject and she did not say what you said she said. In fact "so long as their birth certificates have been updated to match their gender identity" is not at all what she said and is not what the bylaw says either. DAR applicants must have their original birth certificate changed, not "updated" which is very different, according to the laws of the states. Also, she absolutely did not say "that denying transgender women membership to the Daughters of the American Revolution based on their biological sex is discrimination and against the bylaws." President Wright never once used the word "transgender" while she was speaking to the members that day. Please remember the Wikipedia rules which state: "Material about living persons added to any Wikipedia page must be written with the greatest care and attention to verifiability, neutrality, and avoidance of original research." You have not quoted Mrs. Wright correctly and I ask that you remove that paragraph. Elaine Powell (talk) 02:51, 26 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The paragraph you are referring to is the "lead", located at the top of the article. It reiterates the information that is stated, cited and sourced, in the body of the article. In regards to birth certificates, "Updated" means "changed" (what are these "Laws of the states" pray tell?), as transgender people (depending on which U.S. state they were born in) can have their original birth certificate updated to reflect their actual gender (i.e. a transgender woman can have "M" replaced with "F" and vice versa). President Wright did say that it is discrimination to deny someone membership to the Daughters of the American Revolution based on their protected class, which she specified was people who have "female" on their birth certificate, including those whose birth certificate had been changed to state so. Futhermore, I did not misquote Wright. She did say "if a person’s certified birth certificate states ‘female,’ they are eligible for membership, and your chapter cannot change that.. if their birth certificate says they are a female, and you vote against them based on their protected class, it's discrimination."I suggest that you re-read the sources, re-watch the video, and refresh your mempory when it comes to Wikipedia rules and policy before making edits like you did, and before implying that another editor does not follow "the rules". Good day. -- Willthacheerleader18 (talk) 21:34, 26 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
