Album covers

Please do not insert multiple album and single covers into the chronology boxes in articles. According to Wikipedia's fair use policy, album and single covers can only count as "fair use" if they are illustrating and accompanying text about that album/single; for example, the cover for Pink's Try This could not be used on the article for M!ssundaztood, because the album isn't discussed in the Try This article. Wikipedia:WikiProject_Albums#Track_listing_2 recommends using tables for track listings in complicated situations (such as if most/all tracks include samples), and there isn't one on the I'm Not Dead article. Please do not remove maintenance notices such as {{copyedit}} from articles when they are needed. Such behaviour may be considered disruptive, and the article does need improving. For example: "But the record company in the Netherlands stated, after getting questions if song was also released in Holland, that the song was only released in Belgium and that other country's where concentrating to promote Nobody Knows." This isn't very clear, and there are typos as well. Also, song titles should go in quotes and not italics; please read the Manual of Style, as I've asked you to. Not Too Late

1. The footnotes look messy when placed next to the chart positions; readers will take longer to understand the information because they have to deal with two sets of numbers. I moved them back to beside the chart titles.
2. Message boards (even ukmix.org, which I myself visit often) are not reliable sources for most information. Please, if relevant new information about certifications or whatever appears in a message board post, wait until a reliable source (such as the official website for the organisation) reports it. We're not trying to "scoop" the opposition here :).
3. Wikipedia:Guide_to_layout#Structure_of_the_article recommends (for good reason) against short sections, which is particularly relevant to this article, in which the two short paragraphs you added are not large enough for their own section. It doesn't make much sense to label a section of an album article "Album information"; readers are likely to expect the entire article will contain information about the album.
4. You've copied and pasted the content of the Thinking About You article into the Not Too Late article, but you didn't mention where you got it from. When copying or cutting content from one article to another, always remember to explicitly mention in the edit summary where it's from; this means the people who originally added it to Wikipedia are credited. For example, you could write "add info from the [[Thinking About You]] page". Also, we don't need to cover the entire history of a single song in an article on the album. That's what the separate article on the song is for.

Okay, I've got another "whole list", but this is only advice. I'm not telling you off! :)

1. Please remember to cite reliable sources when adding information. This includes information you add that you have read in another article; if it is unsourced, you should at {{fact}} or {{cn}} beside it. For example, on I'm Not Dead you wrote of "Stupid Girls", "Alot of people were glad that finally somebody stood up and said what alot of people were thinking." - where did you read this? Please provide the webpage or newspaper or magazine where you found the information you're adding; you can do this by listing it at the bottom of the article in a "References" section, or by enclosing the source in <ref></ref> tags.
2. Related to the above, please do not insert original research into articles. For example (from I'm Not Dead again): "The song ["Nobody Knows"] describes feelings that a persons can have without showing those feeling to the outside world." - this is your personal interpretation of the song, and we're not supposed to add our own thoughts and interpretations into articles. Again, please cite a reliable source where you found this information (e.g. an interview with Pink).
3. Please remember to provide a fair use rationale for every fair use image you upload (e.g. screenshots from copyrighted programmes and videos). This is basically an explanation of why it qualifies for the fair use criteria. You can see an example of such a rationale at Image:Stupid girls.jpg. You should also mention the owner of the copyright of the image.
4. Please remember to check where the links you insert lead to; e.g., Oprah leads to the article on Oprah Winfrey, not her show.
5. Song titles go in double quotation marks; album and television show titles go in italics.
6. Only first words and proper nouns in section headers should be capitalised, e.g. "Singles released", not "Singles Released".
7. Per Wikipedia:Guide_to_layout#Headers_and_paragraphs, please do not create short sections. As a rule of thumb, I generally insert section headers for text that is at least two paragraphs long.
8. Please remember to provide a descriptive edit summary for each of your edits (except small things such as correcting spelling).

Thanks for the response. The reasons I removed the information were that there was overlap between the "Release and reception" and "Singles released" sections (it's best not to repeat information), a lot of the information was unreferenced (Wikipedia:Verifiability says unsourced info can be removed at any time by any editor), and a lot of it was too detailed for inclusion in an article about the album. It's best to briefly summarise the most important facts about the singles, and leave less important information about the video and chart performance in smaller countries or whatever in the single articles. It's usually good to have text (i.e. the tour section) above lengthy lists and tables, and short sections and paragraphs should generally be merged into other appropriate sections and paragraphs. Please Wikipedia:No original research about the song meaningg, because your interpretation of the song may differ from other people's. Extraordinary Machine 20:32, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

Personal attacks and sources

It's completely unacceptable to call other editors "stupid people" and "Losers", as you did on Talk:Pink (singer). It was me who "erase[d] screenshots, texts ect. [sic]" for the reasons I've explained on this talk page and others, as well as in my edit summaries. Another editor expressed concerns that the article was becoming more like a fan page than an encyclopedia article.

Again, you need to cite reliable sources for all information you add to articles, and not make assumptions about certain information and write that because one thing is true, something else must be true. Please, no original research; that includes personal opinion and interpretation. For example, Norah Jones's Not Too Late may have sold a certain amount of copies in France, but that does not mean it has been certified for that amount by the relevant organisation. Certifications are not automatic; the record label has to apply for them, and they take a while to be processed. And bpi.co.uk does not list a certification for the album. These are just two examples.

Time and time again I've noticed you making the same errors when editing. Look, I don't know if you don't understand what I'm saying and haven't bothered to ask for clarification, or you're ignoring me because you don't mind if articles in a website aiming to be a reliable reference work are poorly written and formatted, inaccurate, unreferenced and include copyright violations. Well, I do, and ignoring the policies and guidelines isn't really an option here. Please, rather than act like editors who are cleaning up after you (by doing so they are trying to help, by the way) are "idiots" or whatever, let's work collaboratively and in compliance with the policies and guidelines. 1. Please make sure what you write is clear, grammatically correct and free of typos; if you aren't sure, add {{copyedit}} so others can check for any errors. For example, "preformance" is actually spelt "performance". Don't be offended by this question, but is English your first language?
2. Only first words and proper nouns in section headers should be capitalised; e.g. "Album information", not "Album Information". I've told you this before. The whole article contains "album information", so it's rather senseless to title a section as such anyway; you've been told this before as well.
3. For every copyrighted image you upload, you must specify the copyright holder and status of the image, and provide a detailed fair use rationale. Fair use images should never be presented in a gallery. See WP:FU and WP:FUC.
4. When adding information to an article, please make sure you don't duplicate information that is already in an article (this is in relation to Try This).
5. Song titles go in "double quotation marks", album titles in italics.
6. Never copy and paste text directly from other websites. You must always rewrite it so that it doesn't pose copyright problems for Wikipedia.
7. Always cite your sources for information you add or change, and make sure they are reliable; this applies to all information you add, even if it is from another Wikipedia article.
8. The correct formatting of "U.K." is "UK", and "gold" and "platinum" shouldn't be capitalised because they aren't proper nouns. See WP:MOS.
9. Please do not insert detail into articles if the information can be or is already included in another, more specific article.
10. Please don't highlight award wins over nominations with colours and boldfacing; this is a violation of WP:NPOV.
11. Articles, prepositions and conjunctions shouldn't be capitalised in song and album titles; for example, "Long Way to Happy". See WP:NC.

Edits to Pink (singer) and other articles

You seem to be ignoring what other users (including myself) have told you and continue to tell you, so I'll get straight to the point: many of your edits are bringing down the quality of articles, often significantly so, by being unsourced or poorly sourced, incorrectly formatted, original research-filled, poorly written, copyright-violating, inaccurate, or made under the mindset that this is a fansite rather than an encyclopedia. For example, the image you uploaded, Image:P!nk Just Like A Pill Screenshot.jpg, shouldn't be in the Pink (singer) because the "Just like a Pill" video isn't discussed (much less mentioned) in that article. The image description page is missing the mandatory fair use rationale. I could go on and on, but what is the point when you're just going to keep on editing as you were before? Judging by your refusal to respond to other editors' concerns, you seem to think that Wikipedia is your personal playground on which you can play by your own rules and do things your own way, no matter what other people are telling you. It isn't.

Bear in mind that repeatedly introducing copyright violating content into Wikipedia will lead to your being blocked from editing for a period of time. This includes failing to provide accurate copyright and source information for images, as well as a fair use rationale for ones under a nonfree license. 80.0.72.76 16:19, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

As I've said before, encyclopedia articles are meant as summaries; there's absolutely no reason to regurgitate every detail about songs and albums on an article about a singer. Mentioning the highest positions one single reached in minor markets such as New Zealand or Sweden is completely unnecessary. The argument about appropriate level of detail aside, your wholesale reverts are removing wikilinks and formatting fixes, and reintroducing spelling and grammatical errors. It's clear that English is not your first language, and it's not just me who has had to copyedit your changes to articles, so I recommend that you not tell somebody whose first language is English that your "texts" are "better". I've explained the importance of the Manual of Style, verifiability, copyrights etc. and you're still making the same problematic edits. Why is this?

Firstly, when a talk page becomes too large, it is meant to be archived in a subpage, e.g. User talk:Electric Storm89/Archive 1. Secondly, for someone who has been steadfast refusing to acknowledge other editors' concerns, it's not a good idea to call on other people for "communicating through the historypage [sic]"; I didn't see much sense in leaving a message on the talk page of a user who is likely to ignore me again.

If you disagree with the policies and guidelines, you can take it up at the relevant talk pages (e.g. Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style), but don't wholesale revert other people's edits without any explanation or discussion other than "[my edits] are better". By the way, your persistent reverts are removing wikilinks, references and basic formatting corrections - this is considered disruption, and if you continue, you may find yourself blocked from editing for a period. Why don't you read my previous messages, both on this talk page and at Talk:Pink (singer)? To summarise: I'm simply trying to a) keep the article in line with the Wikipedia policy, guideline and WikiProject pages, b) keep it well-written and comprehensible, and c) keep the level of detail appropriate for a general encyclopedic overview of Pink's career, not a regurgitation of random trivial facts about her recordings. The article is not meant as a fanzine piece or a hagiography, something that I think you don't understand. You are persistently and repeatedly adding and re-adding unsourced content to articles. You are also adding and re-adding images to articles in violation of the non-free content criteria.

You've been asked to stop this and have been directed to the relevant policy and guideline pages many times, so you know what's required of you. If you continue to edit as you have been doing, you will be blocked from editing temporarily. Extraordinary Machine 00:25, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

I have read the "things" to which you are referring, and I've explained why I've edited them the way I have done on the various talk pages, such as Talk:Pink (singer). You seemed to ignore this before, so to reiterate: much of the content you inserted contains information that falls outside the scope of an article about Pink. Simply put, the reader does not need to know what songs she performed at the MTV Australia Video Music Awards, or when/if I'm Not Dead reached number one in New Zealand — facts such as these are unimportant in the wider context of Pink's life and career, unless you know of reliable sources that say otherwise.

Which brings us to a more important point: references. I've said it many times before, and you don't appear to have taken it in, so I'll say it again: all information in Wikipedia articles must be attributed to reliable, verifiable sources. You cannot insert (much less reinsert) claims such as "I'm Not Dead is her second biggest seller worldwide, with sales of 5.8 million to date" or "It's not yet known if the album will only be release in the US or worldwide If a new single will be released in the US is not known either". If someone removes something that doesn't have a reliable source to support it, you do not reinsert it. This is not negotiable.

Also, as mentioned previously, it's apparent that English is not your first language, so if someone (particularly someone whose first language is English) changes the wording of something you've written, don't undo their edit. Extraordinary Machine (talk) 01:00, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

Hi there - I am working to bring the James Blunt article up to GA standards, and one of the reviewers has recommended that the sound sample in the article be of Blunt's best known song, You're Beautiful. I noticed that it was you who uploaded the current sample, of Goodbye My Lover, and brought it into the article; now I wonder if you would be able to do the same thing for You're Beautiful.
