Drawing Board merge proposal
As a sometimes contributor there, I wanted to let you know that there is a proposal to merge the Drawing Board into Wikipedia:Requests for feedback. That conversation is located here. And hi. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:02, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

tagging pages for deletion after page move vandalism
When you do that, be sure to uncheck the box that says "notify if possible". Otherwise, notices get sent wierd places... J.delanoygabsadds 01:48, 18 September 2008 (UTC) J.delanoygabsadds 01:48, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
- Never noticed that little box up there. I guess you got it? It was still the attack page when I started the script, but when the page reloaded it was your redirect. You must've histmerged it in those few seconds. Sorry! —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 01:52, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
- No, it's fine. I knew exactly what happened, (Believe me, I know all about making errors with automated tools...) and I'm not mad at you in the slightest. I just wanted to make sure that you knew what had happened, so you wouldn't accidentally warn/notify the wrong person in the future. Thanks for helping clean up that mess. Hopefully, at some point the devs will implement a tool that makes cleaning up stuff like that easier. User:ClueBot gets some, but only the really obvious stuff. Anyways, I guess I'll ttyl. Cheers! Editing war
I was the one who wrote that statement; I can remove it if I want. I found new research that disputes that statement. (79times (talk) 02:26, 18 September 2008 (UTC))
I noticed you'd posted a vandalism warning on this page; I've just posted another one, but I'm not Admin, so I can't block it. Xyl 54 (talk) 07:32, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
- I'm not an admin either, so neither can I. That IP has only made one edit today, though, so I doubt you'll have much luck reporting to Administrator intervention against vandalism. You really need to give the fellow at least a couple of new warnings up to a final warning and then they have to keep vandalizing after the final warning. If you need more help, you can either ask me or read the Vandalism policy. Cheers! —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 07:41, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
- Ah! Thanks! Xyl 54 (talk) 07:57, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
date audit
I'd love this to be the case, but until we find someone who can advise on how to add this functionality, I have to rely on careful scrutiny; clearly not careful enough in this case. You don't have any contacts among WPians with monobook skills, do you? Tony (talk) 10:17, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
- I don't, but you could try asking at WP:VPT. —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 10:38, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
Vandalism
your lack of repect to AC/DC by labeling them as heavy metal is vandalism. I would like it if you woud stop changing my edit when I have listen to AC/DC for years and comparing the to metal bands like Metallica, they are not heavy metal! If you want to put down the lable "Heavy Metal" then I should suggest to get it straight from the horses mouth "AC/DC". Which you would never get. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.101.9.145 (talk) 03:21, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
- Hello, and thank you for writing. To reply to your concerns, I need to point out that to start with you are deleting material without leaving an edit summary so that other editors can understand your reasons for the deletion. Secondly, the edits of yours that I have reverted are ones where you have removed citations and cited material. If you have a problem with the categorization of the band, I suggest you take it up on the article's talk page. I hope this addresses all of your concerns. Please feel free to ask me about anything else that may be on your mind. —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 03:26, 21 September 2008 (UTC)

Well, alright
- you probably hadn't noticed I was avoiding talking to you. you seem to be someone who likes irony; I don't need more arguments or whatever going on. however you aren't picking up on that, so here goes. why are you paying so much attention to articles you don't necessarily even care about? can you explain that? why can't you follow the debate and grasp what has been said? I don't doubt that you enjoy editing, however I question some of your methods. explain? Upgrade1 (talk) 11:03, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
- Hello and thank you for writing. Is there any particular edit of mine that you have a problem with? I suppose at least one of them was the one where I linked to your edit where you admitted to being a sockpuppet, I say this in view of the fact that you tried to erase it. As for my motivation, even though it is irrelevant because we're supposed to comment on the edits- not the editor, I am simply expressing my opinion on how the rules should be applied. if consensus doesn't go the way I'd like best (as it often does), I certainly don't lose any sleep over it. As a proud member of WP:DGAF, I realize that a bunch of microscopic magnetic variations on a hard drive in a server in Florida (and a couple of mirrors in other parts of the world) has very little impact on my life. You really should adopt the same attitude, it's much less stressful. So remember don't panic just because something isn't going the way you think it should. I hope I have addressed your concerns. —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 16:36, 26 September 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Seal of the city of Waterbury Connecticut.gif)
Thanks for uploading Image:Seal of the city of Waterbury Connecticut.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:34, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
User:AdMinster
Greetings,
I noticed you welcomed this user to Wikipedia. However, he is pushing POV concerning religious articles. Note he deleted from his talk page proof of bad-faith edits rather than discuss them. Wikipedia is NOT the place for personal comments such as "anonymity is a cloak" as he has done on Local Church controversies. I suggest some counseling is needed.Ryoung122 13:38, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
- Hi there, yeah I know- that is the very reason I put the welcome template on his talk page. I checked and I didn't see that anyone had ever given him one. My rationale is that it is unrealistic to expect someone to follow the rules when they have never been informed where to find all the rules. I didn't want to just give him the warning about his cut & paste move without giving him the template too. I only just came across this situation but I will monitor it. Thanks for your input and happy editing! —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 21:46, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

Hi Elipongo! I came to your user page from a photo of Hartford Hospital that you uploaded in Wikimedia. Just wanted to say hello. I have been a wikipedia for a few years now. Now I am a new resident of Hartford, and as of now, working in Hartford Hospital. You edit a lot on articles related to Hartford and neighborhoods, I see. Iread many of those articles while I was coming to Hartford.
Anyway, nice to meet you. Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 00:22, 10 October 2008 (UTC)

Wow, thats still around. :( Sorry but I stopped developing it around the time I switched to linux as it won't run on linux. Whats even worse is I don't even have the original source code anymore as I lost it in a Hard drive failure. :( So... I'd say that its depreciated. Sorry about that :( —— nixeagle 19:45, 14 October 2008 (UTC)

Your Recent Proposing... And Subsequent Deletion
What do you mean that the beer glass could be a copyvio? It's public domain! You placed the copyvio tag on the page in error! I could have got to the situation if I hadn't been busy all day. Can it be restored please? -- MISTER ALCOHOL T C 06:11, 17 October 2008 (UTC)
- Hello and thank you for writing. In the image's licensing and description you stated that you had created it yourself using photoshop and that you released it under the GFDL. I did a Tineye search and found the identical image on many other sites. I tagged it for speedy deletion as a copyright violation since it seemed unlikely that you had created it because it was on so many other sites on the Internet. If the image is indeed in the public domain, then you should properly license it as such and not under the GFDL. You should also provide documentation to back up your claim. Thank you very much for writing and feel free to ask me any other questions you may have. —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 07:05, 17 October 2008 (UTC)
- Hello. I'm John Wansted, one of Alberto's friends, and I'm currently on holiday using this IP. Apparently, Alberto (Mister Alcohol) has been complaining that this beer glass image has been deleted. Orangemike (talk · contribs) should have known that Alberto would be changing the tag to a proper one. Also, Alberto said that he actually created it himself and published it on the Internet in the late 90s. I have consulted Ev (talk · contribs), Alberto's welcomer. If he doesn't restore the image, would you mind asking a sysop to restore the image so Alberto can change the tag? Thanks for reading. — John Wansted on 92.16.12.245 (talk) 15:30, 17 October 2008 (UTC)
- Hello Mr. Wansted, thank you for writing. My reply to you is identical to what I would say to Mister Alcohol if he had asked directly. If Mister Alcohol would like the image undeleted, he can take the matter up himself with the closing admin, Orangemike. Also, if Mister Alcohol is indeed the creator of the image, than I expect that he still has the source file and can re-upload it. I would advise that this time he upload the full size, high resolution version with the relevant metadata embedded from Photoshop and the camera. I have no interest in requesting an undeletion myself since, to be frank, I have no evidence besides two anonymous messages from the Internet that the image isn't copyrighted. Thank you again for writing, it takes a special kind of friend to take time from his vacation to stand up for a friend in a matter like this. —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 17:00, 17 October 2008 (UTC)
- I've tried talking to Mike, but he's refusing to do talk with me. What can I do? — John Wansted on 92.16.12.245 (talk) 19:00, 17 October 2008 (UTC)
- He's right, this is something that Mister Alcohol has to do for himself. You should probably take the time to enjoy the vacation you say you're on rather than wasting it at a computer trying to do this favor for him. —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 20:11, 17 October 2008 (UTC)
- I'm in the airport now, after my two week break (expecting to be on the plane by 10:00 Eastern Time) and I've opened a thread at WP:Media copyright questions. Why not see it and then consult somebody to restore the image so he can do this thing? Thanks. — John Wansted on 92.16.12.245 (talk) 13:20, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
The lines at Logan must be getting especially long if you need to be there at 11:20am for a 10:00 flight! Pretty cool too how you're still editing from the same ISP when you're at the airport now. Regarding your thread at WP:MCQ, they've given good advice on how Mister Alcohol can prove his ownership of the image, I suggest you drop him a note to let him know. Have a safe journey. —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 23:22, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

About Mister Alcohol
I am not suprised that he is probably a sock puppeteer, I know for some reason I was suspicious of him the first time I saw that strange signature and flashy userpage. "John Wansted" has said some pretty nonsensical things, huh?--Metalhead94 (talk) 02:31, 20 October 2008 (UTC)
- Indeed, from his first edit it was evident that he was an experienced user — however there is nothing wrong with using an alternative account per se; so long as policy as not being violated. It was only when I was sure that he was using IP socks to try to manipulate a discussion at Talk:Quincy Jones that I decided to report him; his rudeness to Orangemike didn't earn him any points with me either. —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 04:14, 20 October 2008 (UTC)
- Elipongo, I haven't operated any other account. I wrote this...
"But I've made myself admit with the first IP being used."
- ...because I was drunk at the time and not concentrating hard enough. What I have realized now is that I told my friend, John Wansted (who lives down the road from me and who was on holiday at the time), to use a Boston IP address. But he hacked the Internet Protocol twice and used two IPs, including 92.16.12.245, instead. That was all. He did it. But I still apologize for all this trouble. I won't tell him to do this again, as it WOULD be abuse. Remove all of his IP posts from Talk:Quincy Jones and Orangemike's talk page immediately. -- MISTER ALCOHOL T C 05:00, 20 October 2008 (UTC)
- Then why did you also leave out the one IP from the list of socks you denied being? In any case you might want to take another look at Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/Mister Alcohol again because I have extended the evidence report. Also I would advise you not to remove User:92.16.12.245's posts. If, as you contend, he is not yourself; you shouldn't be messing with his posts. If you're going to go back to saying that you're the same person, then you would be better off striking them out,
like this, rather than erasing them. —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 06:45, 20 October 2008 (UTC)

Drawing Board
Hi. For some reason, we're suddenly getting a ton of traffic, more than I can handle, anyway. :) If you get the opportunity to check it out, I'd be grateful. I hate having to leave before I finish everything there, but I've already overstayed my time this morning. The next one in line looks potentially valid at a glance, though I haven't looked at the sources. I wonder if there's somewhere we could advertise for more assistance? --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:58, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
- Should have read the top. Good luck with your exam. :) I expect this problem will still exist after the 31st. :/ --Moonriddengirl (talk) 15:07, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, I see what you mean; 59 topics in the past fortnight! I wonder if someone changed a header at another help desk or something in the mediawiki to send more traffic to WP:DRAW? As for getting help, maybe we should jump-start that stalled merger with WP:FEED, it's unfortunate that editors are splitting their efforts between two such similar help boards. I've made a new suggestion in the discussion there. —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 16:40, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
- There you go. I knew it had to be something! Wonder why Franamax wrote that it was for newly registered users? Obviously, that's primarily who we get, but I'd presume we wouldn't shuffle off an experienced contributor seeking feedback. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:31, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
- Good point, that! I've removed the word "newly" from the sentence there. I think I may make a post on the Community bulletin board to appeal for more assistance and for further input into the merger of WP:FEED and WP:DRAW. —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 13:38, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
- Good idea. We should get that going if we can. I've added my two bits to the discussion. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:42, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
- Hi. I didn't realize we were doubling efforts there. :) I think you should leave your response! I didn't find the AfD. That's useful information. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 16:50, 5 November 2008 (UTC)
- Odd that the software didn't hand me an edit conflict. I'll re-write it a tad I think to streamline with your post. Thanks! —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 16:55, 5 November 2008 (UTC)
