Block to Ladymenta

Hello, my nick here is Ladymenta and you have blocked me. Noooooooooooooooooooo. So, after my little crying, an explanation. I understand you have blocked me because you can't see my IP. If that's right, the reason of this situation is I had been making proves with some google chrome extensions like "hola" and I didn't know it's forbidden to edit things here and I'm very susprised about that. I have unabled the extension, it was only a prove playing with my husband. Is it enough to enable the block?? Reading the message of block it seems very difficult to enable it, I have read about making alegations and so... Ohhh, I like writing here!!! Please answer me in my talk page. Salutations from Spain."Ladymenta (talk) 17:52, 19 January 2015 (UTC)"

Sockfest at AfD

Thanks very much! But wasn't Hamada2012 the master? Not that it matters. Bishonen | talk 02:25, 24 January 2015 (UTC).

No problem. I treated Kulturaacc (talk · contribs) as the master since it appeared to be their most recent frequently used account. If they want to go back to Hamada or whatever other account, I don't mind switching blocks. Hopefully though, the warning will be sufficient to stop further socking. in regards to your 6 month ban of this ip 2606:6000:FD07:E900:4824:56EC:D309:5AF3

in regards to your 6 month ban of this ip 2606:6000:FD07:E900:4824:56EC:D309:5AF3

i notice that you just banned the anon ip 2606:6000:FD07:E900:4824:56EC:D309:5AF3 and for 6 months (a fairly large length block) and yet you did not appear to give a reason. the anon ip made only 2 tiny edits ever. i should hate to ever make the same error as this other guy thus can yo please if possible explain to me what grievous heinous thing they did. thanks.--70.190.111.213 (talk) 15:57, 25 January 2015 (UTC)

That is not the only IP they've been using. I blocked 2606:6000:FD07:E900::/64 which in this case is allocated to one customer and they have been very active withing the /64 range. Unfortunately, you won't be able to see many of the edits they are making because they have been revdeleted by other admins. In general though, they are racist, often contain libelous or derogatory statements as well as other obscenities. Elockid (Talk) 16:03, 25 January 2015 (UTC)
thank you for your prompt response thus you are saying sock of known bad user--70.190.111.213 (talk) 16:06, 25 January 2015 (UTC)
Yup and a very prolific one indeed. Elockid (Talk) 16:10, 25 January 2015 (UTC)

"Cannot create account" message - please help

Hello, I'm trying to understand why my IP address has been flagged and blocked. I have an account and just received permission for an account creator right for educational outreach programs (see: Wikipedia:Meetup/Seattle). I'm puzzled why this is happing. Thanks Shameran81 (talk) 00:09, 3 February 2015 (UTC)

Can you please copy/paste the message you're getting? Elockid (Talk) 00:50, 3 February 2015 (UTC)

Random act of kindness

The Admin's Barnstar
Yours is a name I've missed seeing on my watchlist, so I was glad when I went to block a vandal at AIV and found that you'd beaten me to it—the first time I've seen your name for a long time. I always thought of you as one of the few admins who were truly willing to get their hands dirty and deal with worst abuse the project suffers, so I'm glad to be seeing you around again. :) HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 23:42, 4 February 2015 (UTC)
Thanks so much. :) I've been busy for the last few months with irl things. I don't anticipate being away anytime soon. I am glad to be back in better capacity. Elockid (Talk) 22:45, 5 February 2015 (UTC)

Yummy. Thanks. :) Elockid (Talk) 17:34, 9 February 2015 (UTC)
Yes, a big thanks for that! Unfortunately the puppet-master continues, here's another apparent sock: 85.23.156.94. Jeppiz (talk) 19:47, 9 February 2015 (UTC)
Blocked the IP and protected Avi Arad. If they come back, I can protect the other pages also. Elockid (Talk) 19:51, 9 February 2015 (UTC)

Incorrect Use of Protection

Hey I noticed you create protected Category:Royal College - Panadura‎, Royal College - (Panadura), and Category:Royal College - (Panadura) with the protection level of [create=templateeditor] (indefinite). This is not allowed per WP:TEMP-P which states This protection level may only be used on high-risk templates and modules. Just wondering why and informing you of the rules. Thanks! EoRdE6(Come Talk to Me!) 03:34, 23 February 2015 (UTC)

Add Royal College - Panadura to the list in which you added templateeditor for both edit and move: ‎"[edit=templateeditor] (indefinite)‎[move=templateeditor] (indefinite)". I feel like this is seriously wrong... EoRdE6(Come Talk to Me!) 03:36, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
Auto-confirmation is extremely easy to attain and this ease has long been abused by sockpuppeteers. I know what the the protection level is used for, but for this situation I decided to take a common sense approach. I could've easily have just made it to just allow only admins to edit those pages as semi-protection is not very effective here. But I chose instead to try and make it less of inconvenience while still applying an effective solution. Now I'm not saying this would work or should be done for every page, but I feel that for this situation it would be better than just enabling only admins to edit those pages. Elockid (Talk) 04:34, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
There are currently 98 template editors on en.wiki. May as well just full protect, or start with semi and see if they bother to get auto confirmed. But thanks for the explanation. EoRdE6(Come Talk to Me!) 15:35, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
If there's really such a problem with others, I will just switch it to full. Elockid (Talk) 13:41, 25 February 2015 (UTC)

Request for checking the IP of user

Hi Elockid! The user User:Samaneh-davoudi-jende had written in my talk page the massage very very rude. In addition, he did this with the user name that is very similar to my own user name, but with a different word that is very rude word. I checked his contribution. He made this account just to misbehave me. The user User:Howcheng blocked him, but i want to remove the information of the massage in history of my talk page. Can you help me? Can you check the IP of the user. This user is too rude and he was irreverence to me. Can you check the IP of the user. Thanks!Samaneh-davoudi (talk) 07:34, 23 February 2015 (UTC)

Sure thing. I'll be glad to help you out. Do you think you could provide me some background info first? Have you been any disputes lately? Elockid (Talk) 14:30, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
Hi again! Yes,Of course!I recently edited two article that called Yasser Al-Habib, Sadiq Hussaini Shirazi. These two person have many followers, I think that user is one of the followers. In addition, I recently nominated Fadak (TV channel) for deletion. Fadak is associated to Yasser Al-Habib. But i don't have any dispute with any one lately! The important thing for me is removing the information of the massage in history of my talk page. Thanks for your attention!Samaneh-davoudi (talk) 06:26, 24 February 2015 (UTC)
Unfortunately, I don't see anything else of interest for the account. Regarding your request for the history of your talk page, are you talking about using Rev deletion? Translate is giving me an add translation. A translation on what was written would be helpful. Elockid (Talk) 13:42, 25 February 2015 (UTC)
Yes. I want you delete the account of rude user User:Samaneh-davoudi-jende and the information of the massage in history of my talk page. This problem has bothered me much. He insulted me at this "Samaneh-davoudi-jende". There is the biggest insult to a woman. At the massage he called me "whore" and at the "Samaneh-davoudi-jende". Is this enough? is this enough to blocking his IP and deleting his account User:Samaneh-davoudi-jende?
You can check the contribution of User:Samaneh-davoudi-jende and find out that this account is made just to bothering me. please help me! Thanks!Viator313 (talk) 06:27, 2 March 2015 (UTC)

Uber56

Hi there, are you able to please reveal who Uber56 (talk · contribs) is a sock of? GiantSnowman 12:57, 23 February 2015 (UTC)

Based on the other sock accounts, the sockmaster is Biar122 (talk · contribs). Elockid (Talk) 14:30, 23 February 2015 (UTC)

Pashtun people

HI, I have started a conversation for concensus on more Pakistani Pashtuns in this article talk page. I have brought the article to a neutral level so that whatever is acheived after concensus would be accepted by me or users like me who want representation of more pakistani pashtuns in the article. This is because Pakistan has the most pashtun population but they are in least numbers even lesser than indian Pashtuns/Pathans. Please i really would appreciate if you could ask User:Krzyhorse22 to refrain from reverting and try and have concensus before adding anything in the article. This is just to keep the article at normal shape so that it represents all pashtuns equally according to their acheivments and population. Thankyou Saladin1987 08:33, 19 March 2015 (UTC)

Elockid, you have CU, can you please run it on this distruptive anti-Indian Saladin1987. I'm almost 100% certain that he is a sockpuppet editing from Brisbane, Australia. See here for more info. I will very much appreciate if you could help me clear my suspicion, which is based on the fact that Mar4d claims to be in Brisbane, Australia, and Saladin1987 has posted several times googlebook links with "au" in it and he has stated numerous times "mate." Plus, they both edit the same articles with the same anti-Afghanistan/anti-Indian mentality.--Krzyhorse22 (talk) 11:38, 19 March 2015 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

The Admin's Barnstar
Hey Elockid, thanks for all you do, and much of it rather thankless and boring (hell, maybe you enjoy the technicalities of rangeblockes...). At any rate, the block on 2602:306:C5E4:A50:A1F7:C870:8659:603F's range is appreciated. Happy days! Drmies (talk) 01:01, 2 April 2015 (UTC)

Collateral damage

Would you be kind enough to have a look at User talk:LouisAlain #Blocked!. The user is French and an editor in good standing here as well as on fr-wp, but has difficulty understanding complex instructions in English. It appears you have blocked him as part of the rangeblock you created for 88.190.0.0/16 - whatever evidence you have of some of the range being a web proxy, it's worth checking in this case to see if you can unblock LouisAlain as I you can see from his talk page and contributions, he's not a problem editor. Thanks in advance, --RexxS (talk) 21:55, 9 April 2015 (UTC)

I think I took care of it RexxS, but only from that individual user's standpoint. I'm not going to go digging into Elockid's range block. — Ched :  ?  19:19, 10 April 2015 (UTC)

Could you take a look at this SPI?

Since you've dealt with this before, could you take a look at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Bowei Huang 2. I haven't provided that much evidence, mostly because I think for anyone familiar with the case there is fairly loud quacking. Nil Einne (talk) 07:21, 2 May 2015 (UTC)

Various apparent socks of user you blocked for 6 mo. in March

Hi.

Recently this question was posted at the Ref Desks by an IP user:

who subsequently erased his IP and overwrote it with the signature of registered user Nineguy.

Note that this question is almost verbatim (which drew my attention) for one posted at the Ref Desks in March by IP 60.241.116.90 whom you later suspended for six months:

The latter IP is suspected as being a sock of the indeffed multiple-account abuser User:Bowei Huang 2. Given the overlapping edits, the IP's all geolocating to Australia and the editors being interested in Australia, and common habits like talk-page blanking, it seems we have the same user.

Nineguy may want to comment, but his recent contribution on Australia seems to confirm the link.

Can you please look into this? Thanks. μηδείς (talk) 18:39, 21 July 2015 (UTC)

This matter has been brought up and addressed at SPI, for those who are curious. μηδείς (talk) 21:15, 22 July 2015 (UTC)

Page protected

Given the low grade, but persistent harassing/stalkerish edits being made to this page, I have semi-protected it indefinitely. Elockid can remove the protection on their return. Any unregistered editors requiring admin help in the meantime, are welcome to post at WP:ANI. Instructions to contact other checkusers and oversighters are here and here respectively.
