copied message here that was left on my talk page in this dif, in order to keep discussion in one place Jytdog (talk) 15:42, 24 October 2017 (UTC) [reply]

Dear Jytdog, I am not a real Wikipedia editor and my only involvements are just monetary donations. I do not need to change my (not shared, it is my - Andrey Filippov's) username that was created for the only reason - authoritatively fix errors about my company without hiding my identity by a nickname. As you may guess it happened after https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elphel article was started on Wikipedia without asking me (or anybody from Elphel) for approval, of course. If you look at my edits, you would see that I did not introduce any new self-promoting information, just fixing old dead links and correcting wrong facts - and these corrections are completely neutral. As my username violates Wikipedia policy - I will just delete it as soon as discussions will end, I do not want to hide.Elphel (talk) 15:15, 24 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your note. Accounts cannot be deleted in Wikipedia. If you click on the link in the message above, you can change the name of this account to something like "Elphel-Andrey", which would be fine, or "Andrey@Elphel" -- or anything else you like -- it just needs to refer to a single person, not a company. Jytdog (talk) 15:44, 24 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
That did not work: There are problems with some of your input. Current username: Elphel Requested username: AndreyFilippov@Elphel Enter the new username you wish to use, e.g., "Elphel683". You have not specified a valid user name. I do not like "Elphel683" or any other cryptic or misleading name.Elphel (talk) 16:09, 24 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page stalker) Pinging @Jytdog:. Elphel, I wp:pinged Jytdog, to this page.
Somewhat recently, special characters including "# < > [ ] | { } / @" have been disabled. Andrey-Elphel, Andrey.Elphel, Andrey from Elphel, Andrey at Elphel are not in use and should work. Hope I'm being helpful here. Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 17:52, 24 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for clearing that up! Jytdog (talk) 18:17, 24 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you both! As I already explained the only rationale for this account, and Elphel page is going to be deleted, I'll just wait. If the page will be deleted I'll just abandon this account (as it is not possible to delete it) - nothing will break as I did not contribute to other pages - only my objections at the talk page about renaming "Open Hardware" to "Open Source Hardware". If Elphel page will live - I'll change my account name according to your recommendations. Andrey Filippov Elphel (talk) 21:26, 24 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
