Images for biographies still on?

Hi, I am the user coming from Wikipedia Chinese version. Have been used your great great great tool for a while (In fact, adding images has become 'sort of' my daily routine), but toolserver responded 404 not found for a week ago. This is the link I tried to click. Has the link changed or the toolserver having problem? Just curious. Thanks a lot. --Zanhsieh (talk) 19:50, 21 January 2009 (UTC)

Now it's online again. Regards! Emijrp (talk) 11:27, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

404

I get 404 error when I press the Add button. I think it's probably because of the Hebrew characters[1]. Hidro (talk) 01:47, 28 March 2009 (UTC)

Imageforbio 404

I'm getting a 404 error with the add action, could you repair this please ? Kyro (talk) 11:18, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

Hello,
Do you think you will be able to fix this bug ?
Correct place :p

Your bot is being dicussed

Hello Emijrp. Please see this thread at WP:BON, which appears to be discussing one of your bots. In my own comment, I've argued that adding a template to an existing redirect merely to categorize it may not be worthwhile. (It prevents easily undoing an unwise page move, and the value of the categorization itself might be questioned). You're invited to add your own comment to that discussion. Please, read this solution. emijrp (talk) 21:25, 27 June 2009 (UTC)
Oups, I wanted to edit the other section. I post back in the correct place, sorry for the confusion --Hercule (talk) 21:37, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

BOTijo task 6 delay?

I have notices that your bot typically does not add the template to redirects until several days after the redirect is created. Is this intentional? If not, IMO it probably should be (assuming the template isn't deleted, which would make the whole thing moot) to give non-admin human watchers a chance to reverse the redirect. Also, BTW, you may want to comment at Wikipedia:Templates for deletion/Log/2009 May 4#Template:R from other capitalisation; I'm surprised the nominators didn't bother to inform you, as it's a direct result of someone whining about your bot. Anomie 15:31, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

Bot adds templates to articles with prefix A for day 1 in current month, B day 2... so, usually, an user has 30 days to correct a redirect. Emijrp (talk) 16:43, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

BRFA discussion

FYI: Wikipedia talk:Bots/Requests for approval#Why do we have a bot creating redirects that are handled by case insensitivity in the search box?. –xenotalk 21:13, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

(re your comment at BRFA) Hm - I didn't realize this. Please go ahead and resume - but shouldn't this ideally be fixed in the software? –xenotalk 01:00, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
See Wikipedia:Bots/Requests for approval/BOTijo 2 (again). emijrp (talk) 13:41, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
Thanks! I made some tweaks to your pages to better direct people to an explanation on these redirects. Hope thats ok =) –xenotalk 13:44, 25 June 2009 (UTC)

Spanish muncipalities

Hi. I'm hoping to sometime get all of the Spanish municipal/city articles consistent with a standard infobox and to do away with the infobox spanish city. COuld you help replace and also add |pushpin_map=Spain |pushpin_mapsize=300 to display the pin map which we now have for Spain to any of the municipality articles you started and to rid of the old dot maps. E.g see Malaga. Some day I've like to see all the articles consistent like this. Thanks. Dr. Blofeld White cat 16:48, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

Konarski listed at Redirects for discussion

An editor has asked for a discussion to address the redirect Konarski. Since you had some involvement with the Konarski redirect, you might want to participate in the redirect discussion (if you have not already done so). Beirne (talk) 15:36, 5 July 2009 (UTC)

Images for biographies: some suggestions

Some suggestions for further improvement of your nice "Images for biographies" tool:

  1. Now only the first 20 'lacking' portraits are shown. Could that be changed so that someone can also look at the next 20, or the 20 starting at a certain title? I (and more people using the tool) think that would be very useful - even more so when looking at the "done and useless" pictures
  2. There is only one button now for having handled an image. I would propose to have different options here:
  • Done
  • Added some other portrait
  • Article already has some other portrait
  • Useless: Not depicting this person
  • Useless: Other reason
And then of course also show which one was chosen when showing the 'done and useless' pictures. - Andre Engels (talk) 08:56, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for your suggestions and ideas, I know that this tool must be improved, the web interface is a bit poor. emijrp (talk) 09:05, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

Images for biographies in French

Hi Emijrp, I noticed in your tool, there is no more French language. Is it possible to put it again or there are some problemes with large wikipedia? (because german language is not present too). Thanks --Sisyph (talk) 17:06, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

It probably just means there are no more unprocessed image suggestions left. --Ettrig (talk) 10:58, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
fr: and de: are too huge to be analysed by now. I'm sorry. emijrp (talk) 15:51, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
then kick off the small ones. who needs them? :-D Sargoth (talk) 20:51, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

Images for bio: Portugese

Hello. I am having a problem, I can not move the pages (1-20, 21-40, 41-60) of toolserver. How should I proceed? Best regards, ChristianT C 22:17, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

See suggestion two steps up in this page. Currently, the only way to advance is to mark some of the pictures among the first 20 as done or useless. They will then be removed and the list is replenished with later images in alphabetical order. --Ettrig (talk) 11:01, 29 July 2009 (UTC)

Images for bio

How does this tool work? A few days ago I check many pictures and the progress% went up from 48,7 -> 50,15%. Now I see pictures come back that I marked already as done a few days ago. Rudolphous (talk) 11:23, 3 October 2009 (UTC)

Hi. I'd like to point out that in cases like this, where the bot adds an {{R from other capitalization}} to a page that has no edit history save the creation of the redirect, it makes it impossible to reverse the redirect without administrator intervention. In my view, this is highly undesirable, even when capitalizations are moved in the "correct" direction, as the bot cannot determine which is which.

Would it be possible to change the bot's behavior to have it not edit a redirect page that has only one edit -- the creation of the redirect? Thanks.--Father Goose (talk) 04:14, 7 December 2009 (UTC)

I have disabled the bot. emijrp (talk) 23:58, 17 December 2009 (UTC)
Okay, thank you. I would have no problem with the bot resuming its work as long as it avoided pages with only one edit. Be aware that it was blocked in response to my raising the issue; I have now requested that it be unblocked.
I'd like to suggest that you put a note at the top of this page and BOTijo's page advising users to contact you at the Spanish Wikipedia if they need to reach you, since you only check in here sporadically. Thanks.--Father Goose (talk) 00:45, 18 December 2009 (UTC)
My bot do the same that all these people, when they do the second edit. Tell them the same. emijrp (talk) 11:03, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
Users who are familiar with the template {{R from other capitalisation}} are hopefully familiar with our capitalization rules and thus are likely to reverse an incorrect redirect instead of adding the template. The bot can't tell which is the correct title and which is not, which means it sometimes makes mistakes that require administrator intervention.--Father Goose (talk) 02:26, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
You said: hopefully. 99 templates added with bot correctly and 1 need admin intervention is better than 100 templates added by hand and an idle admin. emijrp (talk) 11:00, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

BOTijo

Your bot makes it really hard to revert moves, you know that right?—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 05:13, 23 December 2009 (UTC)

Images for bio - formats

I have come across several articles on this list with pictures already in. The pictures are all in .png or .svg formats. Does your tool not recognize these formats as pictures? --Avilena (talk) 14:31, 27 December 2009 (UTC)

Question about tool 'imagesforbio'

Emilio, i often use your tool from http://toolserver.org/~emijrp/imagesforbio/. I use it to put pictures on the Dutch wikipedia. I have a question: if i press add on your tool, i get a new page with the article, with above in the article ''[[{{subst:ns:6}}:XXXXXXXXXX.jpg|thumb|right|{{subst:PAGENAME}}]]''. Can you change the word 'right' into 'rechts', the word for right in Dutch? It will also work, and we prefer here as much Dutch language as possible. Friendly greetings, w:nl:Gebruiker:Goudsbloem
