COI[edit]

Information icon Hello, Emmencyclopédie. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Antoine Schneck, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Canterbury Tail talk 22:02, 4 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Canterbury Tail,
Thank you for informing me of the need to disclose the conflict of interest, which I will try and do now by clicking on "How to disclose a COI".
Regards,
Emmanuelle Emmencyclopédie (talk) 17:24, 5 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I have reverted your edits as you have not complied with our COI guidelines. Additionally it's clear the only purpose behind this account is to promote your partner on Wikipedia for his career purposes. As a result I have blocked you from the relevant Wikipedia page, but you may suggest edits on the talk page as long as you comply with WP:COI and do not use the page for advertising or turning it into a resume. Canterbury Tail talk 15:48, 28 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello,
Thank you for letting me know what you did. The changes I made today, and which I understand you reversedn, were:
1. Replace the link to In Fine edition by a link to a Facebook post mentioning the book upcoming release
2. Add a link to an article by Emmanuel Monvidran - whom I don't know - showing the relationship between Antoine Schneck, his father and his sister, as requested by the tag mentioning no references.
I do not see the point of reverting additions which specifically meet the comments you and another editor made.
Morevoer, I find your tone disrespectul. My purpose is not to promote my partner but to ensure there is publicly available information about him on Wikipedia. Isn't that the whole purpose of wikipedia? Is there any thing I have written which is not correct per se? I do not think so. I find your intervention unwarranted and unfair.

E. Emmencyclopédie (talk) 16:26, 28 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
So I reverted your edits for the following reasons. You have an obvious COI and you have not followed our COI policies. You removed valid maintenance tags from the page without them being addressed (and them actually being about you.) There is a strong COI on the page since you, the self admitted partner of the article subject, have done the majority of the editing. You cannot remove that tag. It is written like an advert or resume and not like an encyclopaedia article, so again that tag is correct and can't be removed without addressing it. Facebook is not a reliable source. Canterbury Tail talk 16:43, 28 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Canterbury,
I duly removed the "lack of reference" and "advertising" tags after making the above-mentioned changes, which you reversed for reasons I still fail to understand since they addressed the issues raised by the tags.
I removed the "COI" tag because, after reviewing the entire content with Antoine Schneck, we agreed that there was nothing in it that was not public information. Please point to one thing which in your view is subjective.

Sorry I missed the point about Facebook.
But is it really your point? Perhaps your point is that wikipedia can list an artist's exhibit but should not list an artist's book...unless he is a writer. But not if he is a photographer? I'm not sure I get it.

I have tried to insert another reference for the book which does not enable the sale of the book (https://www.cnap.fr/antoine-schneck-1)
Yet you have now blocked me and I can't do it. What do you suggest I do?
E. Emmencyclopédie (talk) 17:11, 28 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I have unblocked you from the article on the condition that you use the talk page to get consensus for your edits and you follow WP:COI. Canterbury Tail talk 12:54, 29 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,
Thank you for unblocking me.
Reading "WP:COI" again I found that wikipedia strongly discouraged editing when there is a COI, and required a mention of a paid COI. I am not a paid COI so my understanding was that I could edit Antoine Schneck's site provided none of what I wrote would be deemed subjective or biased or erroneous.
That said, since this is not your opinion, I will insert the following template, hoping I do it correctly:
. Feel free to correct it instead of writing to me: this is quicker and this is strongly encouraged by Wikipedia.

Also I was planning to insert this COI statement in the "family" section...which was removed by someone.
So I will place it somewhere else.
Regards,
E. 81.220.136.173 (talk) 20:23, 29 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, I will insert a shorter family section, supported by a public article mentioning his father and sister. 81.220.136.173 (talk) 20:25, 29 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
(Non-administrator comment) - you should be logged into your account when making these edits, not logged out. Additionally, it would be helpful to us if you disclosed on your userpage as well. See WP:DISCLOSE for how to do that as well.Yoshi24517 (Chat) (Online) 20:30, 29 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
