Welcome!

Hello, Endothermic, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on discussion pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{helpme}} before the question. Again, welcome! [edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from This site may harm your computer, a page you have created yourself. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, you can place a {{hangon}} tag on the page, under the existing speedy deletion tag (please do not remove the speedy deletion tag), and make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. Mayalld (talk) 15:35, 31 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edits

[edit]

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 14:03, 3 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Reports to AIV

[edit]

Hi, I have been responding to your reports to AIV. While all help is appreciated, it is more beneficial if you were able to follow the processes properly when submitting reports. I note that you use the {{Userlinks|account name}} template instead of the more usual {{IPvandal|numbers}}/{{vandal|account name}} and do not sign your reports by typing four tildes at the end of the message. Of more concern, however, is that you are reporting vandalism where there has been no edits since the last warning or there have been no warnings at all - in some cases where there has only been the one (vandal) edit. It is usual for a editor to be warned, so they know that there may be a block if they continue, before a report is made. While your enthusiasm is great, it would be better if it was tempered by better application of the rules. Cheers, LessHeard vanU (talk) 14:36, 3 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
sorry for the trouble, I have found a great way to warn users —Wikipedia:Twinkle.Endothermic (talk) 08:00, 4 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hey man

[edit]

Good to see you're jumping right in with the messy stuff. Feel free to warn vandals yourself – take a look at Wikipedia:Vandal#Warnings for details, and if they vandalize after a "last warning" / level4 warning has been issued, report them as LessHeard vanU indicates. Let me know if you have any questions, THEN WHO WAS PHONE? (talk) 14:51, 3 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

TWWP is spot-on. For a quick reference, all the warning templates you'll ever need (and then some) are available at WP:WARN; if you spot vandalism, after reverting it just head over to there and pick whichever template is appropriate. The ones I use most often are {{uw-vandalism}} (for general vandalism), {{uw-delete}} (for blanking, removal of content), {{uw-error}} (for inserting erroneous stuff), {{uw-test}} (for general gibberish or tests), and {{uw-biog}} (for libel). Politizer talk/contribs 15:01, 3 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks I will use the warning templates from now Endothermic (talk) 15:20, 3 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Great start! A tool you may like is popups. It opens a popup window when you place your mouse over a diff (such as at Special:RecentChanges) or prev, so that you don't have to open a new page to see if an edit was vandalism or not. THEN WHO WAS PHONE? (talk) 10:07, 4 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
yeaah that's a nice script; I also installed "Twinkle" and "Friendly" from the monobook page :DEndothermic (talk) 13:08, 4 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Glad to see you're finding some good tools! I will, however, give you the obligatory caveat: while Twinkle and Friendly make it easy to perform mass edits, you also have to remember to be very careful when using them. A couple days ago a guy using Twinkle accidentally send hundreds of messages accusing well-established editors (including administrators) of being sock puppets (in fact, I think THEN WHO WAS PHONE? was one of the ones who got a message), and he ended up getting quite a talking-to...so, just an example of why you always need to be cautious! Politizer talk/contribs 14:57, 4 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the heads up. I see 6-8 extra tabs after installing it but I will not use most of them anyway (specially in the case when I don't know what a particular tab does) Endothermic (talk) 16:14, 4 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Breathless (Shankar Mahadevan album) has been reverted.

Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove unwanted links and spam from Wikipedia. The external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. The external links I reverted were matching the following regex rule(s): \byoutube\.com (links: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p47tv3canmc). If the external link you inserted or changed was to a media file (e.g. a sound or video file) on an external server, then note that linking to such files may be subject to Wikipedia's copyright policy and therefore probably should not be linked to. Please consider using our upload facility to upload a suitable media file. Video links are also strongly deprecated by our guidelines for external links, partly because they're useless to people with slow internet connections.

If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! --XLinkBot (talk) 14:25, 6 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Rollback

[edit]

You have been granted with the rollback permission on the basis of your recent effort on dealing with vandalism. The rollback is a revert tool which can lessen the strains that normal javascripts such as twinkle put on the Wikipedia servers. You will find that you will revert faster through the rollback than through the normal reversion tools such as javascripts and the undo feature, because the rollback feature does not require fetching the data from the page history and then sending article data back to the Wikipedia server as the javascript requires, therefore you could save time especially when reverting very large articles such as the George W. Bush page. To use it, simply click the link which should look like [rollback] (which should appear unbolded if you have twinkle installed) on the latest diff page. The rollback link will also appear on the history page beside the edit summary of the last edit. For more information, you may refer to this page, alternatively, you may also find this tutorial on rollback helpful. PeterSymonds (talk) 12:13, 7 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Exothermic

[edit]

About those exothermic editors writing "WP is not censored" in the Pope article that you mentioned in ANI, try to work with everyone in a calm and cooperative manner. Sometimes, I look at edit summaries and start to use similar language as I just saw. It's the power of suggestion. Some editors can be quite crude. Never sink to that level. Work in the most distinguished and respectable manner possible. Good luck! Chergles (talk) 17:24, 7 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No I'm not involved in editing that article at all. I just saw these edits at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:RecentChanges so I reported it. You are right about discussing it calmly with them, but all brand new editors signing up for an account and jumping in one by one on the same article to add the same problamatic content does raises suspicion of sock puppetry. My intention in quoting the edit summary they were using was to point towards the possible sockpuppetry there, nothing else. Rootology says he has blocked all the new accounts—Endothermic (talk) 16:39, 7 February 2009 (UTC) 17:45, 7 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Disam

[edit]

It's a combination of things actually. I've created a list of some of the most common terms that need disamming (i.e. the links point to disambiguation pages instead of to their intended target). I also take a look at the disam project, especially the "problems" section at the bottom. And that's it really. I don't watchlist the pages themselves. What is on my list is the "What links here" pages. So I go by the terms themselves (such as pop) and not be the pages themselves if that makes sense. In the case of Espagnolette, it was the word French, which was pointing to French when it should go to French window. Originally I thought it should go to "France" but French window has a specific connotation. --User:Woohookitty Diamming fool! 10:58, 9 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

2006 Noida serial murder investigation merger proposal

[edit]

Hello, I recently proposed merging the Moninder Singh Pandher and Surender Koli pages into 2006 Noida serial murder investigation, which can be found here. I noticed that you have contributed to some of these pages and welcome your thoughts. Thank you, momoricks (make my day) 04:01, 19 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Roomarang

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Roomarang, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Toy with no asserted notability. May be a trademark.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached.  Blanchardb -MeMyEarsMyMouth- timed 20:37, 8 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi

Apologies for the "spam"; I'm writing to you and other editors because you have edited the Club Mahindra Holidays article recently.

Concern has been expressed that the article is too promotional and is about a non-notable subject. I do not necessarily agree with this, however I am concerned that unless these issues are addressed then the article may be deleted. I am therefore asking for your help in improving the article, and wish to make the following suggestions:

  • The article should avoid being a promotional vehicle for Club Mahindra: the article should adhere to Wikipedia's policies of neutral point of view.
  • The article should avoid being an attack on Club Mahindra: while some criticism is to be expected the article should not be an attack page.
  • Positive and negative comments about Club Mahindra should be referenced by reliable sources such as major newspapers and business magazines.
  • Controversial claims - either for or against Club Mahindra - should be discussed on the article's talk page.

Once again, apologies for disturbing you with this matter but I hope I can look forward to working with you on improving this article!
