Image:Mayor-Barnes.jpg listed for deletion[edit]

Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as Image:Mayor-Barnes.jpg has been listed for speedy deletion because you selected a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission. While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, a non-profit website, this is in fact not the case. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If you have any questions please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. Sherool (talk) 08:37, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Headshot-1.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

I am willing to help informally resolve the editing conflict. I also noted this on the Talk: Missouri page.VK35 23:40, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You have been accused of sockpuppetry. Please refer to Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/Enorton for evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with notes for the suspect before editing the evidence page.

Blocked[edit]

You have been blocked from editing for violating Wikipedia policy by using sockpuppets to break the 3RR; see Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/Enorton. If you believe this block is unjustified you may contest this block by replying here on your talk page by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}}. You may also email the blocking administrator or any administrator from this list instead, or mail unblock-en-l@mail.wikimedia.org.

Missouri , Discussion while blocked[edit]

I am willing to try to informally mediate in the dispute about Missouri and St. Louis. I see that you are blocked for 2 days. During this time, you can still edit your own talk page. Do not become angry at the blocking. IF YOU AGREE, I'm willing to help broker an editing concensus. Somebody else with an opposing editing opinion is agreeable to participate. Can I help you? I personally don't have a stake in the Missouri article (so maybe that's good for informal mediation) but I do wish for harmony and would like your opinions to be heard without you being blocked.VK35 00:12, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

After discussion with VK35, I am willing to reduce the length of your block if you wish to participate in mediation. He also pointed out that the Enorton08 account is older, so if you would prefer to use that account instead, I will reduce that account's block. But I must ask you to agree to use only one named account. --Akhilleus (talk) 00:31, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I see that you are willing to discuss the Missouri issue in the form of informal mediation. I just want to promote harmony so people can continue to contribute to wikipedia. GrayWanderer has expressed an interest in me helping out in resolving the matter. Since you're in agreement, tomorrow I'll read up on what the issues are. I know it has something to do with St. Louis and Kansas City and who is larger and what should be in the box but I need to study it further. I will not impose a solution and say "this is the way it is" unless one side clearly has a misunderstanding of facts.VK35 01:59, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Enorton, I will reduce the length of the block since you expressed willingness to join in mediation. Please understand, though, that you should not ask your friends to join your side in controversial discussions. This is called meatpuppetry. Any edits by a meatpuppet are treated as if you had made them yourself, so there's still a 3RR violation. Since some of the block has already elapsed, I'll reduce the length to 12 hours, and you'll be able to edit tomorrow--but please avoid edit warring. --Akhilleus (talk) 02:11, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have written 5 keys points on the talk:Missouri page that I hope that most people are in agreement. This is a step towards informal mediation. Hopefully, this will be a foundation so that the issue of Kansas City and St. Louis can be resolved. Once there is agreement with the 5 basic points, then we can proceed further and possibly reach a concensus in a few days. This message is being sent to several people who have previously written comments about the Missouri matter.VK35 18:43, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Duplicate images uploaded[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Kcriverskyline.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:Kcmoriverskyline.jpg. The copy called Image:Kcmoriverskyline.jpg has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot 23:18, 3 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Kcscoutlogo.gif)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Kcscoutlogo.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 05:35, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:Kaywaldobarnes.jpg[edit]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Kaywaldobarnes.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. B (talk) 05:04, 15 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use Image:Kcmodistrictmap.jpg[edit]

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Kcmodistrictmap.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use media which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. B (talk) 05:05, 15 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add uncited personal opinions to articles[edit]

Please do not add content without citing reliable sources, as you did to Michael Jackson. Before making potentially controversial edits, it is recommended that you discuss them first on the article's talk page. If you are familiar with Wikipedia:Citing sources please take this opportunity to add your original reference to the article. Contact me if you need assistance adding references. Thank you. Gwernol 01:33, 26 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add unsourced or original content, as you did to Michael Jackson. Doing so violates Wikipedia's verifiability policy. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Gwernol 01:36, 26 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

First, the issue is not my permission, it is the rules of Wikipedia. Please read carefully our policies on citing sources and original research. You should not add rumor, gossip and speculation to articles. All information added to articles must be properly sourced. Trying to imply that Michael Jackson is gay through innuendo and rumor is inappropriate.
By the way, when adding comments to talk pages, please add your comments at the bottom of the page and sign your comments by putting ~~~~ at the end. Thanks, Gwernol 01:46, 26 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Image:Kcmomayorbarnes.jpg[edit]

A tag has been placed on Image:Kcmomayorbarnes.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free image with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria.

If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the image can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the current tag with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{non-free fair use in|article name that the image is used in}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the image. If the image has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:Kcmomayorbarnes.jpg|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. File:Kcmoflag.jpg missing description details[edit]

Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as File:Kcmoflag.jpg is missing a description and/or other details on its image description page. If possible, please add this information. This will help other editors to make better use of the image, and it will be more informative for readers.

If the information is not provided, the image may eventually be proposed for deletion, a situation which is not desirable, and which can easily be avoided.

If you have any questions please see Help:Image page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 18:33, 11 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
