Cross Border Xpress edits

Thank you for changing the aspect ratios, I would like to ask for your knowledge on Wikipedia. I tried to insert hyperlinks within the article and never succeed, e.g. the reader could click on "Image 1" and be taken to it instead of scrolling back up to look for it. @Rnieders: I suggest adding [[#Image 1|Image 1]] (a # sign and then the section name as the link) whenever you want to link to image 1. Thank you for spending so much time inserting the anchors. I added anchors to images 13 and 14. The section on "Construction Begins" I started the project in 1989 and initiated the land negotiations in 2006 with the investors who acquired and built the project, and technically was involved until the land negotiations closed in 2008. After that I never got a call back from them and was consciously excluded from the project. No one wanted the article in Wikipedia. I do appreciate the amount of time you spent on this. Ironically, of the 4 original partners, I am the last one left. Dan Malcolm, Rodolfo Ramos and Gilberto Valenzuela, all have passed. I am still trying to get the DEA the release one picture showing the drug tunnels from the Tijuana airport to the US warehouses. Grand St Subway Station Neighborhood Location

Not debating the Chinatown location of Grand St subway station, however, do you really believe it's not in the neighborhood of the Bowery as well? Wikipedia's own entry on the Bowery lists the neighborhood's borders as, "East 4th Street and the East Village to the north; Canal Street and Chinatown to the south; Allen Street and the Lower East Side to the east; and Little Italy to the west." Grand St subway station is on Grand and Chrystie which falls within the borders of the Bowery neighborhood as defined in the article. Additionally, if you look at the borders of the Bowery neighborhood on Google Maps, you can see that Bowery station, Grand St station and 2nd Ave station are all within the neighborhood. Not arguing that these wouldn't crisscross with other neighborhoods, but if we're going to use our own and other commonly accepted definitions of the neighborhood's borders, I don't see how one could say they don't fall within the confines of the Bowery. caz | speak 20:53, 4 April 2016 (UTC) I'll hold off on editing Grand St and 2nd Ave subway pages until we reach consensus, but my view is that they should both mention that the stations fall within the neighborhood of the Bowery in addition to the other neighborhoods we currently mention. caz | speak 20:58, 4 April 2016 (UTC)

@Cazador: I think that the Bowery neighborhood is an interesting case. Some say it's a neighborhood, while others say it's only a street. The Bowery station is clearly in the Bowery neighborhood, but I think Grand Street and 2nd Avenue are both disputed occurrences, as neither are on Bowery street itself. So, for now, we should stick with "Chinatown," "Lower East Side," or "East Village." Thanks. I'll follow along there and post this there as well. I think there's a case to be made that the Bowery isn't a cohesive neighborhood within the borders Wikipedia & Google give, which is why you feel it may not be appropriate to include the latter two stations as within the confines of the Bowery. However, I don't think we can say that while also leaving the stated borders of the Bowery neighborhood in the Bowery article untouched without the pages contradicting each other. caz | speak 05:08, 5 April 2016 (UTC)

License plate serial formats with stacked letters

I've just seen the edits you made to Vehicle registration plates of Maryland and Vehicle registration plates of Indiana, regarding serial formats with two letters stacked one on top of the other.

I fully understand what you were trying to do here... but the problem is that the letters are so small, they're actually quite hard to read.

I'm not asking you to undo these edits or anything, mind - it's just an observation.

To be perfectly honest... I do think that simply putting <small> tags around the letters in question, and separating them with forward slashes, is a better way than most.

It's clean, it doesn't use too many bytes, it works well for letters that are stacked vertically and for those that are stacked diagonally - and it also works well in the rare cases where there are more than two stacked letters, like on some of Nevada's non-passenger plates.

But that, of course, is just my opinion - which you are perfectly entitled to disagree with. Safe to say, not everyone can or ever will agree which is the best way to display a serial format that contains stacked letters.

And again, I'm not asking you to undo your edits. I may not fully agree with them, but I do fully understand and respect your intentions here.

Section name

I don't think it's unreasonable at all to rename "Chinatownscape" as "Street Scene", but I've changed it back for now as several other articles are redirecting to this section title and there is no anchor. Also, the "scape" concept goes along with several other genres of articles as well. If you feel strongly about the name change, please just create the appropriate anchor, thanks. Yes, I think probably moving it back is best. My guess is that most of the articles on Metro-North should be at (for example) Beacon Falls station, rather than Beacon Falls (Metro-North station) as at present. Automarking by a Wikipedian?

Hi there,

I coming from the special:log/patrol where i have seen you automatically "marked" an edit. I wonder what does that mean. Perhaps you can help me out with some questions?

What does a marked page mean, who can mark it, and why should they be marked?

Does your edit allways automatically "mark" the page you edit? Does this indicate your edits are confirmed or "preapproved" in some way? Is there some sort of status to be gained, so edits are automatically "marked"?

This status puts you in line with bots, but prehaps you have some formal role in English wiki (do you?). can a regular wikiped ever obtain such a status on any of the Encyclopedia's you know?

@Mateo: Hi, and welcome to Wikipedia. "Patrolling" a new article just means that your edits have been reviewed and approved by an autoconfirmed user (i.e. someone who has 10 edits and 4 days' experience). Basically, someone decided whether your new article should be immediately kept or sent for deletion. There is no process for "patrolling" regular edits. I hope this helps. @Mateo: 1) No, only pages that are pending changes protected get reviewed. 2) Pending changes are not the same as regular changes; they are visible to logged-in users, but not to logged-out users until a reviewer approves them. 3) No, any confirmed user can patrol a new page.

Hi Epicgenius! I've been working on restructuring the WP:STATIONS main page (and also updating it as a result of this RfC), and I think the page's new "structure" is better than it was. But that's not what my request is about! – Could you please take a look at the (new) 'Article body' and 'Article template example' sections? Both of these sections look to be horribly out of date, and not reflective of how current train, etc. station articles are generally structured these days, and I figured you probably see as many train station articles as any editor, so I thought I'd ask you to look those sections over and and see if you can figure out how to update them. Almost ready

I see you have been working on John Francis Hylan, which is good. I am itching to get back. Maybe I will take a break. You will see, however, if you look at Archibald Cox that I learned how to do the thing from you, which is part of the reason it has taken me so long to finish the Cox article. Once you have the freedom to do text notes, then there is no end to the minutiae you can add. Which you can see by comparing the current version of Archibald Cox to the version that exited before I began in February. As soon as the agony of Cox is over, I will be back to Hylan adding a similar level of minutiae. Maybe we can get a GA out of old Hylan. The problem with my ADD is that I keep jumping from one project to another. I figured Hylan had to be beefed up because I was about to do John H. McCooey, which I only stumbled on because I was trying to finish Irwin Steingut. The only Brooklyn politico I have finished is Stanley Steingut. But I intend to finish Hylan if it kills me. Cheers. @Epicgenius: Yes, be my guest. Stanley Steingut is done, so it might be best to start there. If you attempt Archibald Cox, don't do the "Back to Harvard" or the "Watergate" sections since I haven't gotten to them yet. As for Irwin Steingut that is so incomplete (almost as bad as Hylan) that My goal is to inginish Hylan and let you nominate it and follow through on Ga so you can get the credit. I'm not going to ask for a review of Archibald Cox since I think an editor might think it fails the "summary writing style" criteria and I don't want to revert it to some typical list-like Wikipedia piece.
