Can you help verify translations of articles from Chinese
Hello Epicgenius,
Would you be able to help evaluate the accuracy of translations of Wikipedia articles from Chinese to English Wikipedia?
This would involve evaluating a translated article on the English Wikipedia by comparing it to the original Chinese article, and marking it "Pass" or "Fail" based on whether the translation faithfully represents the original. Here's the reason for this request:
There are a number of articles on English Wikipedia that were created as machine translations from different languages including Chinese , using the Content Translation tool, sometimes by users with no knowledge of the source language. The config problem that allowed this to happen has since been fixed, but this has left us with a backlog of articles whose accuracy of translation is suspect or unknown, including some articles translated from Chinese. In many cases, other editors have come forward later to copyedit and fix any English grammar or style issues, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the translation is accurate, as factual errors from the original translation may remain. To put it another way: Good English is not the same as good translation.
If you can help out, that would be great. Here's a sample of the articles that need checking:
All you have to do, is compare the English article to the Chinese article, and mark it "Pass" or "Fail" (templates {{Pass}} and {{Fail}} may be useful). (Naturally, if you feel like fixing an inaccurate translation and then marking it "Pass", that's even better, but it isn't required.)

What's new?
Integrated Filters
- The team is moving full speed ahead on a follow-up project to the New Filters for Edit Review beta dubbed "Integrated Filters." The name refers to the fact that we are integrating the Recent Changes tools that currently remain in the old user interface (like Namespace and Tag filters), along with some tools and capabilities from Watchlist and elsewhere, into the new Recent Changes interface.
- You can get an overview of the Integrated Filters projects, and the general release strategy, on the description page of the project Phabricator board. Among the more interesting new capabilities:
- Category filters: We'll be adding the ability to filter by category. This is a little tricky, since wiki categories often work in a somewhat counter-intuitive way, with the broadest categories returning the fewest results—because categories like "Science" or "Art" tend to contain not articles but other categories. So we're exploring solutions where a category search will crawl at least a layer or two down the category treat to, hopefully, bring back more useful results. [1]
- User filters: We're adding the ability to filter by any username, similar to what's available already on the the User Contributions page. [2]
- Live update: Users will have the ability to look at a more or less continuous flow of changes. This is a much requested feature that we expect will open up new possibilities for Recent Changes, especially for patrollers who want to see vandalism or other changes as they happen. While the updates won't truly be "live," the page updates will be frequent, similar to the way real-time tools (like RTRC or LiveRC) works. [3]

Recent changes
- It is now possible to save your favorite filters sets by using bookmarks. [4]
This feature documentation can be translated.
- It is possible to filter only the last edits done on a page on the Recent Changes page. [5]
- ORES review tool has been deployed to French Wikipedia. This wiki can use predictions filters. To have the predictions filters on your wiki, you need to work on the labeling campaign for your wiki or request it. [6]
- There were some issues with loading highlighted results when the URL was copied and pasted. This is now fixed. [7]
- A "Watchlisted pages" filter group now lets reviewers use Recent Changes, and all its tools, to patrol changes to pages they've Watchlisted. If you have any feedback about how useful this is nor isn't—especially given that we plan to add the new filtering interface to the Watchlist page — let us know.
- There were issues with the tools still in the older filtering UI — like the Namespace filter and the number of results selectors. These have been fixed. [8]
Future changes
- Integration of new features on recent changes pages is planned. They will include menus to filter users, tagged edits, categories and namespaces. See the "What's new" section above for more information.
- Now that users can save filter settings, and declare any settings they want as the Recent Changes page default, we'll be reviewing the RC page Preferences with an eye to getting rid of as many as we can. For instance, if you want to hide minor edits or Category changes by default, you can now do that right on the RC page, instead of having to go to a separate page to manage defaults.
- On many Recent Changes Pages, the community has defined a large number of links that are displayed directly under the page name (example on Polish Wikipedia). Many of these links are unrelated or only peripherally related to Recent Changes, add informational complexity of the RC page. Research shows that they are used only rarely or never. We want to clarify RecentChanges page functionality, so we plan to put the links into a collapsible panel.
Should the panel default to open or closed? That is, should the default state (which users can change with one click) show the links as hidden or displayed? Let us know what you think.- The most used links are shortcuts to certain type of edits, (Mobile, Newcomers...). Users can already save their favorite filter settings to the Saved Settings menu, which should make some of the existing links redundant. We plan to provide default bookmarks for the most used filters combinations. [9]

- Wikimedia Deutschland have scheduled the notifications of Wikibase notifications to Wikimedia projects: all the Wikivoyages on May 3; all the Wikipedias except en, fr, de on May 30; all other projects on June 13 and Wikipedias en, fr, de on September 5. [10]

Evening SSI
I read on WT:NYCPT that you wanted to create a new symbol to represent evening service. I'm assuming it would be for the 5 when it turns at Bowling Green and would only be used for the templates that transclude to the Bowling Green and South Ferry pages, but would you consider using the weekdays only symbol instead? My reason for this is there will probably still be some 5 trains turning at Bowling Green starting next week. In parentheses, we could add something like (weekday evenings and limited rush hour service). Just a thought.
I was also wondering your take of creating a symbol for weekends only, for when the 2 goes to South Ferry and when the 5 goes to Flatbush Avenue. It would be similar to the nights and weekends symbol, but with the vertical line only cutting across the circle, rather than both the horizontal and vertical lines do for the nights and weekends symbol. There is precedent for this symbol that exists, back in the 90s on Guide-A-Rides for the C when service used to terminate at the World Trade Center. (See here and here.

P.S. I have an idea for what we can do for the 5 train's station listing in its article come this weekend. I was considering two collapsible tables: one!for weekday service, one for weekend. I'll post more on the WT:NYCPT page in a bit.
- @LRG5784: Yeah, sure. I think you could create this weekend-only symbol.Regarding the 5 service pattern, I don't know if they should be collapsible, but I think 2 separate tables could be helpful. However, the service pattern could still be displayed within one table, since the 5 weekend pattern is basically the same as the all-local version of the 5 to Nereid during rush hours, except with one extra stop.By the way, there is an IP user that is editing the station articles and putting a note that this pattern is temporary (173.3.52.22 (talk · contribs · WHOIS), but the user uses a dynamic IP address). Should we be including these notes? Maybe it is possible that we can use just one table, but that means we would have to create custom definitions for the icons then. Between Eastchester - Dyre Avenue and Morris Park, we can use the weekdays only icon and use text like:Stops weekdays 5 a.m. Monday - 11:45 p.m. Friday. Between Wakefield - 241st Street and Bronx Park East, we could use the weekends only icon and use text like:Stops weekends 11:45 p.m. Friday - 5 a.m. Monday, and rush hours in the peak direction (limited service). Between West Farms Square - East Tremont Avenue and Bowling Green, we could use the all except nights symbol and use text like:Stops all times, except weekday late nights from 11:45 p.m. to 5 a.m., Monday through Friday. Between Borough Hall and Flatbush Avenue, we could probably use the same symbol, but also include in the text that those stations in Brooklyn aren't served weekday evenings, either (Stops weekdays 6:30 a.m. - 8:00 p.m., and weekends 11:45 p.m. Friday - 5:00 a.m. Monday). The only stations that will be served all times is East 180th Street. I don't need to go over the stations between New Lots Avenue and Nostrand Avenue (Eastern Parkway), as those will still be served with limited service.
Yes, I reverted his edits because while the service change is temporary, it is still long-term and has been incorporated into the system pick. - All right, that's cool. I think for the 5 train between 241 ST and Bronx Park E, we can use the "weekends only" icon and, in the actual template text, add a note that it stops during rush hours in the peak direction. It will be similar to the 4 train to New Lots Avenue before the service changes (rush hours and late nights). For the Brooklyn stops, we can use the "all times except late nights" icon, and in the template, add a note that it's all times except weekday late nights. That 1-and-a-half hour gap on weekdays is pretty large, so I think I'm going to go with your proposal. epicgenius (talk) 19:58, 22 June 2017 (UTC)

It's incomplete, as I am unsure how to group the 5 train stations that are served by Nereid during rush hours. I thought about just creating a new row, but I'm unsure.
