Photo requests
[edit]Eric, do you do photo requests in Shanghai? WhisperToMe (talk) 20:22, 30 August 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for the tip! I'll take a look at the list of uploaders! By suburb of Shanghai, is it close to Hongqiao (China Eastern Airlines corporate HQ)? The photo request I want is in Hongqiao, but I'm not sure if it is considered suburban. WhisperToMe (talk) 07:36, 31 August 2012 (UTC)
- Ah, ok. I'll check to see if there's anybody who can get there sooner. Hopefully one will photograph the China Eastern HQ. I'm thinking it would look like File:Cathay City.JPG or File:WatersideBAHQLondon.jpg WhisperToMe (talk) 18:50, 31 August 2012 (UTC)

Chinese Soviet Flag
[edit]Hello there! I assume that you refer to my use of that particular flag on the Mao Zedong page ? Is there a picture of the flag that you would propose that we should use instead? Best Midnightblueowl (talk) 13:20, 4 January 2013 (UTC)
- On an aesthetic basis, I like the flag of the Jiangxi Soviet Republic, and think that it fits nicely in the section discussing Mao's involvement with that particular state. However, I am more than happy to use the flag of the Red Army elsewhere in the Mao article; perhaps in the "Resuming civil war" section, which I intend to expand with referenced material fairly soon in the future ? Midnightblueowl (talk) 13:41, 4 January 2013 (UTC)
- We already have quite a lot of pictures of Mao in the article, and I'm really not convinced of the need for another one. Howeverm if, as you say, the historicity of the Jiangxi Soviet flag image used here is dubious, then I agree wholeheartedly that it should be replaced, and the Red Army flag that you have shown me is probably the best replacement. Feel free to make the substition! Best, Midnightblueowl (talk) 14:17, 4 January 2013 (UTC)
- Chronologically then, the Red Army flag would be appropriate for inclusion in the section of the Jiagxi Soviet ? Midnightblueowl (talk) 14:31, 4 January 2013 (UTC)
- There is not a lot of space in the section on the Nanchang and Autumn Harvest Uprisings; for that reason I would suggest placing the Red Army flag in the place of the current Jiangxi Soviet flag image. Midnightblueowl (talk) 14:34, 4 January 2013 (UTC)

Hi Ericmetro. You've made a nice svg diagram of the Berlin Wall. I have a few notes on the German version:
- The first word is "Pionier-", with a dash.
- The English names ("West Berlin" and "East Berlin") can be removed.
- Between the number and the "km" must always be placed a space.
- It has to be "190 Stck." instead of "190 Stk."
It would be nice, if you could incorporate these notes. Regards, Timk70 (talk) 17:00, 13 February 2013 (UTC)

Historic German Urburschenschaft flag request
[edit]Hi Ericmetro, I have noted that you are a very skilled SVG artist with an interest in history and flags. Perhaps you are interested, if you find the time, to make a vector version of the historic German “Urburschenschaft” (Original Student Fraternity) flag found here:
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Fahne_der_Urburschenschaft.JPG (has to be rotated 90° clockwise)
The flag has no copyright, as it is from the early 19th century. It played an important role in German flag history (it lead to the spread of the national colors), yet there isn’t a single vector version available. It’s a simple red-back-red flag, the only complicated thing is a superimposed detailed golden oak branch. If there are doubts regarding the colors, I recommend using those of the black-red-gold German national flag. The proper Commons category for the flag would be https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:SVG_flags_-_historical_of_Germany Thank you for your work. Can you verify this edit? The blue-black-white flag was flown between 1989-1991 even though Soviet Estonia (Republic of Estonia) was still part of the Soviet Union until Sep. 6, 1991 according to vexillographia.ru. Can you expand the same to Latvia and Lithuania too? 135.23.144.35 (talk) 21:11, 1 July 2016 (UTC)

Eastern Bloc flags and emblems
[edit]Hi again Ericmetro, I decided to give this a shot by creating the flags of the former Eastern Bloc which they deserved its own article since there is already an articles of East Germany for their flag and emblem. Here are the ones I made so far:
- Flag of the Socialist Republic of Romania
- Emblem of the Socialist Republic of Romania
- Emblem of the People's Republic of Bulgaria
Can you try making the Flags of the Eastern Bloc and Emblems of the Eastern Bloc in the future? Otherwise, improve those articles above. Thanks. Supreme Dragon (talk) 02:59, 21 April 2017 (UTC)
