Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thanks for your contributions, please read a bit more on our MOS. You make a few simple mistakes but you're making them a lot, e.g. we don't capitalize every word in a header. We try to make all of our articles look the same and adhere to a few basic standards. Thanks! JesseRafe (talk) 20:54, 22 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Ericwg. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Kenyan cricket team in Sri Lanka in 2001–02, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Events involving notable entities are presumed significant. In this case, "[country] cricket team in [country] in [year]" are established kinds of article and there needs to be broader consensus whether they should still exist or not (I suggest raising it at WT:CRICKET). Thank you. SoWhy 16:20, 3 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion declined: Eternal statement

[edit]

Hello Ericwg, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Eternal statement, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: clearly has context. If you are interested in learning more about how speedy deletion works, I have compiled a list of helpful pages at User:SoWhy/SDA. You can of course also contact me if you have questions. Thank you. SoWhy 16:22, 3 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Also, I fixed your nomination at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Eclipse Center (2nd nomination) for you. Before nominating more articles, make sure you follow all the steps outlined at WP:AFDHOWTO or the nomination will not be seen and thus not be acted upon. Last but not least, remember to sign your posts on discussion pages such as deletion discussions or talk pages using ~~~~. Regards SoWhy 16:30, 3 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Rockford High School Proposed Deletion

[edit]

Hi! Welcome to Wikipedia. I just wanted to give you a head's up that I removed the PROD template on the Rockvale High School article. In most cases, this would mean your next step would be to nominate the Article for Deletion on the AfD page if you feel it should still be deleted. In this case though, there's an exception for public schools that avoids the whole PROD/CSD/AfD process for schools that don't meet WP:GNG. Since it was just WP:TOOSOON for an article on the school, I wiped it and redirected it to the school district's page. This isn't the way the process works for most article subjects, though, so I didn't want you to see what I did and indiscriminately copy the process on other articles. If you're curious about how public schools work, here's the guidance: WP:WPSCHOOLS/AG. Happy editing! Orville1974 (talk) 19:57, 4 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I've improved multiple articles, and added information to them. See my contributions to John Orrell Lever (added information about his businesses), Henry Fisher (MP for Maidstone) (added information about his election), Ronald Ringsrud (removed dead links), Maryus Jones (added American civil war battles he fought in and information about his views on slavery), Robert Forde (added a public domain photo from the expedition he went on), Health_and_appearance_of_Michael_Jackson (reversed some external link spam), Rohm and Haas (added information about their labor relations), and Larry C. Inman (added information about his recent legal issues). It appears this may have been because I created the page for Gregorio Casar. I live in the city where Casar is on council, and follow the news. When I saw that he didn't have a wikipedia page, I decided to create one, and that gave me the interest in further improving wikipedia, which my contribution history demonstrates I've done. I was in no way compensated for the article, and have been planning other articles for the Austin area regarding local activism. Ericwg (talk) 15:18, 9 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

I have discussed your block with the reviewing admin and I agree that there are unfortunately too many red flags in your editing history to feasibly allow an unblock on your account. Sasquatch t|c 17:12, 26 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Sorry for the delayed response. I have reviewed your edit history. Have you read over WP:NPOV and WP:PROMOTION? Once you have, please reply here with why you believe your edits to Gregoria Casar were flagged as promotion. Sasquatch t|c 23:07, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Sasquatch, I have read both WP:NPOV and WP:PROMOTION, and had skimmed WP:NPOV when I was editing the article. I believe that the edits were flagged as promotion because the article is primarily about his accomplishments that cite sources that those accomplishments are good things. A number of these sources were from national press, so I believed it was acceptable and notable. However, I was unable to find any sources that seemed to be notable that aren't POV blogs. I believe this is because most of the writing on the topic is from a positive perspective at this time. However, if the article is undeleted in the future, I'll go back through it in light of this experience and attempt to improve it and try to find more sources to make it as neutral as possible and make sure the entire article is NPOV, and proportional to the sources. Ericwg (talk) 15:13, 26 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Alright. You seem to be editing in good faith. I will discuss your block with the blocking admin. Sasquatch t|c 15:22, 26 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Gregorio Casar, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
